I didn't spend a dime (this week) on these meals. I sourced it all from my pantry and freezers. Using your resourcefulness is a great way to save money and serve up delicious meals.

Hi friends! I'm Jennifer, a fifty-something wife and mother of 7 children ages 9 - 25. We are Catholic. We homeschool. We cook from scratch. We farm cranberries. We drink coffee. We advocate for Down syndrome awareness. We are loud. We are chaotic.
Here I'll share vlogs about all these things, what I'm doing that works and what I've tried but didn't work. I hope to encourage you in your journey through motherhood, homeschooling, learning to cook, and growing in your faith through it all.

We all need to take the time to shop our stash for making meals before buying more. I rarely make a meal plan but I do keep a fully stocked refrigerator, freezer and pantry. We actually turned an unused guest bedroom into a "grocery store". So on most days, I have what I need and can make good meals.

If I have something like the green beans that I have none of I throw them on a sale watch list so when they go on sale I know to pick up on them but am never paying full price! Definitely helps us clear out stuff that’s made it to the bottom of the freezers or forgotten about so helps with having less waste!

It funny you would share this idea tonight because one of my sons suggested we do just that….cook from what we have! I had commented how our grocery bill had gone up and he said “I have an idea. Why don’t we just use up what we have?” Looks like we will be shopping from our pantry. I don’t have much meat in my freezer, though, because I just have the ones on my two refrigerators and they are both small. But we can use what we have and then supplement if need be.

I had to laugh at how surprised you seemed because you did what most of us do. Most of us just stock our pantry with basics and decide day by day meals according to what we have available. You're hilarious with how you act like it's a strange and unheard-of accomplishment. I've never made meal plans in the entire 42 years I've been married and my family is well fed with a variety of meals
@acountrylife
