Great surprise. Glad EE was not driving, the sudden stop and 180 turn could give you whiplash. All the bunkers were in great condition for their age. The dome was an incredible find. I wonder if there was a secondary cover that the locals took. What was broke off was still shiny unless it was the welds that were broken. Panzer steel was welded with stainless steel rods. It smaller so that would go in your back yard, :) , This was a great find and in great condition hoping it stays that way for the future. Nice job gentlemen. Stay safe and well out there.

Talk about Eagle Eyes being an appropriate nickname! What an amazing find. First the cave, that probably thousands have driven past without a second thought, and then the pointing out the "bunkers' at the top of the hill, and then, incredibly, spotting that observation dome, amongst all the bushes and trees. Just wow. Well done Eagle Eyes! And those bunkers, with almost new white paint, and only the fittings gone. Just stunning. Love those "serendipity" moments. Many thanks for bringing this amazing adventure to us. Great work! Cheers to you all! Stay Safe!

Your comment about the young one spotting the cave reminds me of a time that I did that. I was driving down a freeway with some friends, talking and as I turned my head slightly for the conversation I spotted something off in the distance that looked out of place. We turned around and, with the help of a spotlight I had with the vehicle, we explored a cave that I doubt has had many visitors.

This one is now at the top of my list of your unique finds. I have heard of these installations from my Dad who served in the SS when these sort of garrisons were manned. The markings you saw on the turret interior were targeting degrees or MILS that would be transmitted to the attached 88 or 105mm howitzer Gruppe who would triangulate the target location. I would sure like to know exactly where you found this installation so that I can look at it on Google Earth or other satellite images. Looking forward to your next adventure. 😎🇨🇦

Gotta love the 🎸 guitar chords at the intro . Way to go EE in pointing out the cave. It does look like a MG and ammo post. Definitely, an excellent location for it. It's a good thing you brought your trusty Olight flashlight HH. The freaking trench system seemed pretty well intact. Thank you for taking us inside the Panzer turret bunker. The 502 Regelbau bunker and Panzer done were very special indeed. Your sneeze was explosive HH. You had to have felt that one. Unplanned trips or spontaneity are often the best kind of adventures. Now that I have watched this interesting WW2 history video, I can go back to watching my cats and dog sleep.🤣 Thanks again HH & EE for making that unplanned side trip.

I was thinking that first cave could have been a check point, or as you said ammo storage. As for that turret installation, what on earth were they for? Just observation? It seems like that turret is so low, and so heavily armoured for just an observation spot, no? Do you think there was other stuff topside back then?
@WW2HistoryHunter
@WW2HistoryHunter 2 года назад
Turret is for observation only and what a great place :)

Great video, the "L" probably stands for Luftwaffe. I've seen it before in other bunkers.
