Perhaps you've already tried some, but might I suggest to you, for deeper insight to the life and times of a soldier on the Eastern Front, several war memoirs including but not limited to: 'The Forgotten Soldier', 'Black Edelweiss', 'Until the Eyes Shut', and some others. We've been fed a warped version of WWII history in the West in our lifetimes, and many of these published memoirs are pure. Some have been modified by relatives and such, but these memoirs still provide my most trusted points of view from that time. Each of them have varying levels of opinions as to the macro retrospect and narratives surrounding WWII, and some leave that out entirely, and just carry on recording their war experiences. Mein Kampf, unless obtained before 1945, is not worth our time. Significant portions of the original Mein Kampf have been revised or omitted. It's been used against Hitler, and is not an actual representation of the pre-1945 original version. The Germans were imperfect and by 1945 hell on earth came from the east, however, the NSDAP nor the Germans of today deserve the demonization or mischaracterization of their fight. It was a noble cause, and the greatest crime of the NSDAP, was to have lost the war. The most notorious war criminals in WWII are Stalin and Churchill, then Truman, but these swine won and therefore got to document themselves as heroes. The Spielberg-Nazi is a fictional character - more akin to a comic book evil doer, than a real German soldier or NSDAP party member. Cheers to the pursuit of pure truth, whatever it might be.

@@tompurcell3088 I wholeheartedly agree with the war criminals being Stalin Churchill etc Never read mein kampf as it is not to be trusted and not relevent in my eyes, Well worth catching up with some older lectures of the British author David Irving on youtube. They were there five years ago, but for fear of going off topic of this excellent channel i will leave it there.

So glad the HH team managed to check out this location before it all disappeared forever. Having stayed in an 1850's era dilapidated inn, with creaking floors, and rattling doors and windows, can see why anyone staying in that totally trashed basement overnight, might think it's haunted. Really spooky setting. But it certainly looks like it has had some Post War use. And yes, those concrete blocks near the barracks are probably for the radio antenna. Can imagine they had the radio room set up in the basement. Love seeing these little forgotten, out of the way, locations, they really give a great perspective as to how widespread the German influence over the whole of Europe was during WW2. Can't wait to see what else this site brought to you. Cheers to you all! Stay Safe and Well!

@WW2HistoryHunter, So that “insulation”, is actually sound proofing. So a generator room, with that box on the floor is indeed a transformer rectifier for power. There was another old box frame on its side in the previous room Those blue tubes are explosive hole protectors. The upturned cups catch water pushing the tube further into the hole preventing the blasting hole from being filled with water.

Very interesting and I agree with someone's comments about asbestos partials in such a location and nobody can be for sure as to what material were used. A pity the hill is going to be blasted away but I am sure there are many more untouched locations just unfortunate that this one will become history.

indeed a pity it will go totally away. At least we could share it before that happened. Thanks for comment and for watching.

Those concrete small squares in the ground looks like the ramps foe V1 structures so they can be built for launch of V1 rockets

I think the basement bunker was probably admin and pilot briefing, plus communications. It looks like a bunker come admin centre.

@09:16 you stated that "something might have been on the wall" I'm thinking there would have been a chalk board and maybe a map? That room could have been a high ranking office of some sort where they could get briefings

😱 What's with ghosts? My Mom just told me yesterday she feels there is a ghost in their bedroom. I had to explain to her, that everything was alright. And now WW2 HISTORY Hunter explores a Luftwaffe German officer's/pilot's baracke where the basement is reported to be haunted. Maybe you should go back during the night to see if there is more activity 🤔. Well built solid Barack. It seemed to be well laid out with everything they would need. Good catch EE in locating the MG nest and ammo storage bunker. Thanks for taking us in the underground Regelbau. Again very solidly built with thick walls and bars in the windows. Excellent location for a defensive position high on the hill. Very interesting HH & EE. Will you be returning before they tear everything down? Stay safe.
