Love everyone commenting how this is a copy of their regional cuisine... Sounds like humans all over the globe have ben cooking essentially the same stuff since the dawn of time. Love that sandwich idea at the end btw.
yeah definitely - you're probably going to pay a premium for the Panzerotti as well, way more than the tasty dive place down the street from our kitchen studio. Not everything 'Gourmet' is expensive though... we're pretty reasonable over on our channel.
Had my first Panzerotti in New Jersey back in the 90's, loved them ever since. Didn't know you could find them in Brooklyn now, my hometown. Gotta check this place out.
Da Pugliese DOC (da Andria in provincia di Bari) non posso che essere estremamente contentoe fiero di questi ragazzi. Finalmente anche gli americani conosceranno e assaggeranno il vero cibo degli dei xD From an Apulian citizen (from Andria, a province of Bari), the only thing I can say is I'm really happy and proud of these guys. At last the americans will know and taste the real gods' food also xD
Metallaio your probably the kinda person that wouldn’t step foot in Camden. It’s cool tho it’s not for most ppl. It’s not a boujee hipster spot in Brooklyn. It’s a mom and pop shop that’s stood the test of time. So take your Italian self to Brooklyn I’ll stick with the Panzarotti Spot in Camden.
I love deep fried calzones so there's no reason I wouldn't love this. The only thing is the price... $20 for one of those little delicious things, whereas I can get a whole calzone for far less here. I guess those NYC prices are killer. I get the point of it being smaller and more portable though.
We have something near identical at a restaurant called Jimmy's Grotto in Waukesha WI called the Ponza Rotta. The difference is, they bake the Ponza Rotta for about 15 minutes before they deep-fry them.
My middle school would sometimes serve those instead of regular pizza on Fridays, we all got so hyped for the glorious "Pizza Pockets" as they called them, those and the Mac and cheese everyone lost their shit over lol😂
You can find panzerotti (more often spelled panzarotti) all over south Jersey near Philadelphia. I went to college in the area in the mid-eighties and late night panzarottis were THE exam cram food.
My hometown of Waukesha Wisconsin has a restaurant Jimmy's Grotto. The sell an idem there the Ponza Rotta. It's the complete opposite of this, it's full a grease and fat... It is amazing! Would love to give an authentic one a try.
Do not confuse appearance with the taste. The idea of folding and cooking dough with a stuff is common in various cultures, but the taste is different for any national results. "Vive la difference!" 😀
There's plenty of people talking about it in the comments, but First We Feast should have done a report on Tarantini Panzarotti. They have been doing it since the early 60s.
