Wow! Incredible voice! This song brings back memories 45 years ago growing up on the gulf coast. My mother would be inside the beach house cooking gumbo. I would be under the cabin on a swing. This song would come on and my mother would sing at the top of her lungs and as loud as she could. Neighbors in their beach houses or close by had no choice but to listen and wonder if an animal had been hurt and was in pain. She couldn’t carry a note and was so off key. But that didn’t matter to her. I would be on the ground outside laughing.and my dad would be shaking his head from side to side with this horrific look on his face. Listening to this song now ... makes me laugh all over again like it was yesterday. What I wouldn’t give to be back at that beach house... with the smell of gumbo and mom putting on her own private concert and my dad trying to hide from embarrassment. Great music... great times... and priceless memories. Thanks Paolo ... you are one amazing singer and storyteller!
from a guy who got kicked out of choir in grade 3 I know just how bad your mom and I are - doesn't mean you can't like music - and I really like this guy,
@@Perocasevecchie. . . If , and only 'if' ... we are as blessed as you and I are Pierre-Louis , do we hold the sun-kissed warmth and crystal-clear recall of days like these . How is it that by 'merely' closing one's eyes and quieting down for the time taken by a certain song or piece of music ... can we be , almost , ' back there ' . I had a mum who sang out unaccompanied by played music in our case , most every day , thankfully she could 'carry a tune '. Indoors or out of doors she sang out , and , like your dad I always felt that horripilation of embarrassment as a young lad . And , as with your mother. it was more than just the 'words and music' to any particular song , it was both of them remembering their own earlier times of life , lived , now having passed - and just ' how ' I understand that , for some long while now . She passed on very suddenly at a young age (64) and I will always remember our neighbour stating to me that ... " I will forever miss the sound of your mum singing in her garden " ... There is a lesson of sorts for us all there I believe. Have a listen to Neil Diamond's 'take' on this great Fred Neil song , it is ' something else ' . All be well .
I loved reading that, I remember this song when it first came out, I'd be around 11 years old. Such lovely memories of childhood. Happy days eh? Love Paolo.
Awe lovely memories...I'm the same my kids laugh at me my husbsnd praises me but I can tell by his contorted face it hurts...😅 my Irish/ Scottish Dad was the same but man he could hold a tune...Billy Law. Brucehill man... Dumbarton.

Hi pat im in the uk, may 2024. I was so touched by your comment I had to reply . I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately. It conjures up sunny days, bus trips, laughter, youth, good friends. The whole bright future spread out before you like a golden path to happiness . I’m 60,now, wondering where the hell the last 45 years went!
This is the second reference to him being underrated..I can't say I have thought that about him. I find most people who know and play a lot of musical styles hold him in high regard.. Never knew anyone to hate on him.. I'll never forget where I was when I first heard him sing Last Request and a fan since.
criminally under rated. I've sent a few people songs by him and they were completely unaware how good he is because they had only heard last request and new shoes
Well I'm from the USA where if any I nes heard of him it's pencil full of lead or new shoes. Both imo his bottom two songs. But I was blessed ro see hom I. Chicago this year right on the rail. Best concert
I very rarely comment here.. But as much as I love the Harry Nilsson version of this wonderful song, I find myself amazed by this version too. A true cover, a different interpretation, without falling anywhere just to pretend to do something original. Bravo. More! PS: hey Cafè Corsari, the song is written by Fred Neil, not Nilsson, which inspired most for this Nutini version!!
Me too. Everyday his songs swirl in my soul and I'm constantly sing or humming to myself, if I'm not listening to him. I can't get enough of his amazing voice. Paolo is my soul man.
Paolo Nutini has come a long way since his "New Shoes" days (where he was as charming as he's here). What a versatile artist! I love this cover of "Everybody's Talking".
Brilliant...so happy I fell upon this...I've always loved Paolo Nutini...he's raw, the truth and completely the real deal! We need another album from him soon, but it'll be totally worth the wait!!...Paolo just makes 'everything' better!!
My God!!! I absolutely LOVE when Paolo sings this! It brings peace to my soul! So soothing! I listen to it at least 5x a day! Thank you for posting! & Paolo, Thank you for bringing me so much joy with your beautiful voice! 🎶🎵 xo ❤
Why does this song makes me cry (almost) every time I ear it ? I'm french and I'm not even sure to understand every word. Lot of emotion there. Thanks for that.
Probably old people like me 65, but unlike me they can't accept other versions, loved Nilsson's original from Midnight Cowboy (brilliant film), but Paolo sings this beautifully :)
not underrated but so intelligently keeping balance between enthusiastic appreciation (that he gets worldwide) and stardom, which is a soft drug very dangerous and even life-threatening:) some say old voice, old soul and perhaps he does possess also that old wisdom which allows him to keep his route to become a great if not legendary artist. the evolution of his music delivers this constant re-search, as his covers do. where, like here, he not only owns the music with his wonderful musicians, but lives in it. a sort of magic that needs to be preserved carefully, and guess he knows well luckily... only a few more lives, also in It, would be great:)) way to go!
Weronika A S Weronika A S thanks very kind of you:) he is great (and the band as well) and so very down to earth, which makes him quite unique. hope he comes back at some point with an album and especially with live concerts:)
In my eyes he already is one of the greatest of all times ... i believe that Paolo maybe had enough of the "artificial life" of a Superstar, he got his money, he still stand on the Ground and want to try out what Life has to offer for him, apart from the music Biz, maybe he found a Woman and/or decided to invest more time into his Family . Btw i hope He s coming back im a great Lover of his Music also my whole Family is . Cu and Gl
This is the most eloquently, superb comment I've ever read and I'm so happy to have stumbled on it! I am not very eloquent! I think the guy is a once in a lifetime talent, utter fucking class, does what he loves and to fuck wi the churning out loads of albums arseholes. Please tell me you've seen seen "I'd Rather Go Blind" cover?! Different class 😀
@@princessfoof3523 too kind of you:), if it was addressed to me, and thanks bcs English is not my first language, so very appreciate you say this:) and yes, I've listened to I'd rather go blind and love it, as all of his covers... Have you listened to "Forget it" or "Time to pretend" live or even "What a wonderful world" or "Spanish Harlem"?
there is no greater feeling in the world when you recommend Paolo Nutini to someone and then when they hear him they just call you and scream in the phone how awesome he is.
Paulo stirs emotion effortlessly. it is difficult to find words to describe what he brings to the music industry. But I think he is raw, true and real... which is rare in this find fame for a minute culture.
C'mon Paolo give the Scottish people what they deserve...start singing again. Now more than ever Scotland needs it's finest to come forward. That's to you also Blue Nile and Paul Buchanan.
I didn't count exactly the bpm paces, but the impression is a slower pace in the Nutini's cover; probably, in the original Nilsson's version the guitar fingerpicking arpeggio in the background is compound by a fast cascade of notes, whereas in the cover the guitar base track has a rarefied "texture"; therefore the comparative impression is a slower "tempo"
missing so much... "i won't let you leave my love behind" last phrase ... dealing with the past... looking forward ...but that's all ... and the present fearless trying to made me forget ...
Wow, this rendition is amazing, it's different but maybe better? it's certainly equal and respectful of the original, i'm torn if this is this better? amazing and i love this song and this cover really is a beautiful Version.
Classic song, Good cover. I imagine a late night drive on darkened roads. The music playing is the only company as the miles stretch behind, away from the one you love. Aija Wilson If you're still reading, I hope you like those words. Everyone has a story.
There are three songs that always remind me of my childhood in the 60s, songs indelibly imprinted in my psyche: the original Everybody's Talkin by Harry Nilsson (check it out), Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues, and Witchita Lineman. Great cover by Paolo
This song was actually written by Fred Neil, but was made famous or at least more commercial by Harry Nilsson' cover version ... and then used for Midnight Cowboy soundtrack etc
..me voy donde el sol siga brillando a través de una lluvia torrencial..estoy yendo donde el clima se adapta a mi ropa...dándole la espalda a los vientos del noreste...
Harry Nilsson recorded the great, classic version of this song, but he didn't write it. It was instead written by Fred Neil. Credit where credit is due.
Everybody's talking at me I don't hear a word they're saying Only the echoes of my mind People stopping, staring I can't see their faces Only the shadows of their eyes I'm going where the sun keeps shining Through the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Banking off of the northeast winds Sailing on a summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone I'm going where the sun keeps shining Through the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Banking off of the northeast winds Sailing on a summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone Everybody's talking at me Can't hear a word they're saying Only the echoes of my mind I won't let you leave my love behind No, I won't let you leave I won't let you leave my love behind
