it not necessary to collect all of them. In fact, you only need 11 coins. This for buying a Potato Chips (1 coin) and 99 Fish (10 coin). As for Runes, I don't think you should keep them till the end. Just give it to Rune once you arrived at Red Tree House and Facility (2 each). I wonder if the secret coin actually builds a bridge somewhere, and taking the coin removes it…

How did you manage to get coin 19? If I remove the fuse before draining the room, one of those floaty monsters show up right outside the engine room; I simply can't get past it. On the other hand, if I do it AFTER draining the room, the monster doesn't show up, but the area to the dungeons is sealed off by a door.

I think the monster spawn system is random. You just have to manage to get out first. Or you could explore another area first and go back to that dungeon after a minute. That way the floaty monster will go somewhere else.

@@pharoz5423 Hmmm, good to know. Will load a previous save and try again. Problem is, I can't explore another area if I leave the engine room and the monster is right there. It isn't even possible to sneak around: he starts coming for me as soon as I open the door. I tried leading him to the exist stairs and dodging him there, but it doesn't seem to be possible - he catches me as soon as he reaches a square next to mine, and the stairs have only 3 squares from one end to the other.
