I think the fact that you can get through all enemy and boss encounters without taking damage, is enough of an accomplishment for the challenge. Even with the Snifit game show, I’d say you were victorious in the end.
You know… I got this game on Easter when I was a kid. And I had never played a Paper Mario game beforehand… and I loved it. I loved using real life items to pulverize the enemies and interact with the environment. (Even though I had to google a guide for almost every level since I was a stupid kid.) I still had fun. I loved each of the bosses…except Petey. And I liked Kersti as a companion. I’ve just started playing paper Mario 64 and I’m enjoying it as well, but I still have a soft spot for this game. Even with all its flaws.
I really enjoyed it too! Its boring and lacking compared to one of my most favorite games, Color Splash, but it was fun enough to beat when I was little. I did not like Kersti at all though. Unlike Huey in Color Splash who I really liked, Kersti's a nasty little unhelpful jerk most of the time who I dont think ever even thanks you for anything. You cant even skip her battle spin explanation if youve already played the game before, what the heck? Yes, I tried. After saying no several times she forces it on you. Unlike with Kersti I actually felt that Huey was a friend and missed him
@@Paradoxe_0 There looks like a good amount of love for Color Splash since the game is so good, and I would want there to be since theres a lot of fun stuff you can do with it and I enjoy talking about its interesting story. Sadly a issue I keep seeing are people who like to be in denial about how well made it is and pretend its the same as Sticker Star, JUST since it isnt a carbon copy of the original Paper Mario. But heres a fun way to respond to the misinformation to help them stop misinforming people (sadly I was misinformed that it was similar to Sticker Star, and since I already finished that I took longer to look into Color Splash). Just explain what makes Color Splash actually good, and the moment they start telling complete lies and basically talk about Sticker Star instead, you expose the fact they have no justifiable opinion against it.
@@Lizuma trust me i tried it and people will hate you for it,even tho they are clearly in the wrong. At best they’ll be like, yeah color splash isn’t a bad game but it’s still not as good at the OG Nostalgia will never go away from these people unfortunately.
@@Paradoxe_0 But at least other people coming across the comments wont be badly misinformed and can actually hear what COLOR SPLASH, not Sticker Star, is like
26:52 Something not a lot of people know (and I don't blame them at all) is that the "intended" way to clear this section is to use a freezing Thing to freeze all the Podoboos, then use a wind Thing to make all of them drop on Bowser's head.
I knew about freezing them but not the wind thing. Man if only this game took an extra like 2-3 months to fix most of its game flaws then maybe it wouldn’t be as hated as it is
@@GuidingLightAngelo..kay? What's that got to do with anything. He still took damage, so it's a low damage run not a damageless run. You can't semantics your way out of that.
This message was likely programmed to always occur if you didn't use the sticker the game wanted but beat the boss either way. But they didn't account for someone beating the boss turn 1 with a pow block boom box and water gun
The ice bros are the mlg gamers. The fire bros are the casuals that coast by without much effort. Boomerang Bros are the gamers that think using a gimmick weapon makes them pro.
And this is why when someone gave me a an empty box of the game as a prank I told him it was going in the trash, he h Asked me how I know it didn't have the cd and I asked him what he meant... I just never want that game in my house and didn't give à shit
There is literally no way to make Sticker Star interesting without making it horrible because the gameplay is that horrible that there is no thing you can cut out or no game play style you can have that will ever make Sticker Star good or decent.
@@iantaakalla8180 the best I saw was to think of it like it's someones first game that they ever made and have just thrown stuff at the wall hoping it sticks
@@arzfan29 Literally every single puzzle is solved by just hoping that you have the right thing sticker for that particular situation. "Oh no the room is dark, I hope you got the light bulb sticker that was available 3 hours ago."
I remember being stuck on puzzles in sticker star for way too long as a kid because of their poor design. I think one that I was stuck on for a while was the 5-1 goat thing. I mean, seriously who would think to use a goat statue before a vacuum cleaner, a fire starting device, or... Just trying to catch the shyguy in the trash? Sort of enjoyed the game otherwise I suppose, decent soundtrack. But the so-called puzzles really hurt it
I got stuck often and I think I did look things up several times. But I mightve figured out to clear the trash with a vacuum to get the Shy Guy on my own. It was a long time ago so Im not sure, just really glad everythings so much better in Color Splash.
@@avocadeous Maybe there was a hand-held vacuum that didn't work then. Idk. I just remember getting to that spot and being so irritated with it because seemingly nothing I tried worked.
I just remember getting stuck on the 1-1 spiked goombas because I didn’t know you could time the stuff so I was just hitting them with sticks and dying over and over again
Honestly, this is the first thing involving Sticker Star that is not Nathaniel Bandy’s review that does not end with the person absolutely hating the game overtly. He keeps the hatred of this game limited to implications, subtext, and connotations, and it’s refreshing in a world of videos of people growing to hate Sticker Star like it was Russia.
18:53 odd, could’ve sworn I did those jumps unscathed before. Btw this is easily my favorite part of the game, fun concept of roller coasters, the ability to wait in line like a normal person with no consequence, the secret door functioning as a fast pass (RIP), it holds multiple ultraflash stickers, and the a boss which I can’t get enough of nuking the crap out of using the mega shiny flame hammers (which are bought at the world’s shop) to easily break the damage cap of 99.
Would love to see that considering every boss from color splash is the most monotonous garbage in existence because if you don't happen to have the very specific item required you're completely screwed. Pretty good game otherwise, though.
@@wConor The bosses are still really fun (coming from someone who normally dislikes turn based battles) and unique to each other. You literally only need the thing item at the end. My favorite is probably Ludwig's where you need to knock his attacks back at him, or Larry's where you need to make sure to defeat all enemies in each turn
I know it's too short to make a full video, but I wanna see someone beat bowser without using the Kersti sticker. If you farm the sticker at the end of the the raft video, the megaflash infinite sticker, then use those and don't mess up, I wonder if you can beat bowser one damage at a time
You should watch LuckySevenDx’s LP of this game, he actually managed to beat the final boss without using the Kersti sticker during his second time fighting him.
You can beat Bowser without using the Kersti sticker. However, it's not quite as simple as "Infinijump" - when Bowser takes enough damage, his arms are destroyed, forcing you to attack his head, which is spiked. For the last part of the battle, you'll need to switch to using Iron Jumps, which is a bit of a slog, but not impossible by any stretch.
Thats cool you did Sticker Star! I prefer Color Splash over it by a LOT, but it was fun to beat when I was little with all its places to explore and little challenges (when I didnt get stuck). One of the clearest memories I have of Sticker Star is Snifit or Whiffit, and I immediately knew you were referring to it! It's one of my favorite parts of Sticker Star and I prefer this version of it over Color Splash's. It'd also be really cool seeing this done for Color Splash if possible!
The fact the game punishes you for thinking outside of the box is so ridiculous. While the music is good, I cannot stand this game. I feel like this is the only worthwhile challenge you could do since this game hates letting you have choices.
People have argued that Sticker Star is marginally better than the games after it because it allows for creativity and merely punishes you rather than forcing you to play the game of the bosses. Honestly, if anyone is arguing about how Sticker Star is better they are quibbling or they have played it once and somehow avoided RU-vid since then.
Yeah Im aware of that, I just honestly forgot after this went up. It was one of the things I wanted to mention if this challenge ever got updated with new info.
11:07 also, even IF you were to do the intended method, the thing you need for this boss is the SPONGE. Yes, the SAME sponge sticker that we've been using RELIGIOUSLY ever since we got it.
I tried a while back for multiple hours to try to get past the wall leading to 4-3 cause I wanted to try a Thing-less challenge. As far as I can tell (and from checking all over the internet looking for clips) it appears to be impossible.
Doesn't that challenge die at Bowser Jr 1? Junior heals to full every turn, the Battle Spinner isn't unlocked yet, and none of the stickers you can access can deal the requisite 20 damage except the Scissors.
@@underrated1524 unfortunately it doesn’t seem like there’s another way to win so I’m kinda stuck with the first level of each world and the port. Not much to work with
@@JadonTheRedFox Good on your for being able to enjoy the game. Your opinion about it being underrated is wrong as the game is objectively poorly designed but good for you that you can enjoy it despite that.
I actually really enjoy Sticker Star Also I was expecting this to be a challenge where you use the most underpowered stickers possible for progression.
The best criticism I have fore this game is that it's good to replay when you're bored. Game is still stupid easy to pick up, and you never get lost if you've played before.
I really liked this video, Mario rpg games can hold really interesting challenges and I think this is a good direction to go, continue to make these pls lol
"blah blah you didn't use the right thing sticker so you struggled a lot, try planning better next time" Meanwhile, "Perfect Bonus" flashes on the screen and you get showered with money Sure, Kersti, whatever you say
in the EU version of the game, the gameshow in world 3 is called Hit It or Snifit. i love seeing the interesting differences between two versions that share a language
For some reason, I enjoy this game even today. I still call it my least favorite Paper Mario obviously with the issues in it, but I kinda liked some of the ideas. Don’t get me wrong, Snifit or Whiffit and the music are the best parts in the game.
I wanna add that you can also mash the touchscreen for the boombox and squirt gun. Its honestly stupidly hard to get the boombox up to excellent without the touchscreen lol.
Me:so what exactly are you doing in this challenge Him:im playing trash but i have trash hp Also good job i bet it was difficult and sticjer star isnt that bad
No matter how many reviews i watch, no matter how many times i hear people saying that this game hurts and not even fun to play, i still want to play it. What is wrong with me? Do i have a mental illness?
I forgot most of this game, I only remembered the back tracking being annoying, this whole game was made to show how good we had it in Super Paper Mario
I liked this vid because sticker stars was one of my childhood games and I liked the game myself. (althought I never got too far seeing as some puzzles were too complicated for baby brain me)
I actually did this challenge when I was little I just freaking abused the sh of Megaflashinfinijump grinding them in the blocks where you can upgrade stickers
Paper Mario games don’t have a great record with balancing multi-hits well. 64 and TTYD have the multi-bounce, and then SS has a 100 jump item and the squirt gun that passes the damage cap
I don’t care what anyone says this game is tied with ttyd for my favorite paper mario game (likely cuz sticker star here is the one I played the most as a kiddo so big nostalgia points)
I'm glad that some people nowadays actually enjoy this game. I'm not sure if I'm just nostalgia-blind, but this was probably one of the best 3DS games back in the mid-2010's. It only gets a bad rap because of it constantly being compared to other games currently available.
I have the box for this game but I lost the card so I half remember this game, up to world 3. I lost it about 10 to 9 years ago, I kinda of belting in disguise, but I do want to play this now.
Wow... What a mess of game design. Clearly this game wasn’t tested well enough or thought though enough. This is like if one of the developers hid a few extremely powerful badged that broke the game in PM64 or TTTD.
This game is awesome. If you just try it like just try it and you’ll know it’s a good game color splash is the dead. The bad one color splash is worse.
That’s a good idea 17 minutes in. I don’t think getting past that wall is possible, but if it were, it wouldn’t matter. 4-3’s comet piece just leads to a shop (4-4), and the only way to get to 4-5 and 4-6 is to get the comet piece from 4-1, (which still means the radiator is required), which is impossible to get to from entering 4-3 early. Again, I love your idea on this, but there’s no way it would work despite being able to get beyond the wall in Decalburg. UNLESS if paperizing the oven would work in the radiator’s spot, but I highly doubt that.
I'm not concerned about beating 4-3, the only thing I want from 4-3 is the "Forebear's Portrait" Scrap Piece, which you get for defeating the Big boo. 4-1 has two comet pieces and can get 4-5's Comet Piece with only a fire flower (To melt the ice cream cone to grab the Pipe Scrap Piece) and Backtracking to the very right of the level, so Its more asking can you enter 4-3 early to beat the Boo, grab the scrap piece, then go to 4-5 and continue on.
@@ThatOneSpyGuy Ohhhhhhh, I didn’t think of that part. I forgot that the comet piece to 4-5 didn’t require the use of the radiator. Now we just gotta be curious is cheesing through that wall is possible, it’d unfortunately probably not though.
I have done this multiple times. Take his arms down with infinijumps (easier with with three slots) and then use iron jumps until he dies. Use mushrooms when necessary (1up mushrooms are also good)
I would genuinely think an incentive to battle would make this game good, also nerf the battle spinner, because it could lead to an interesting mix of resource management and RPG
