Nope- I think it's a generational thing. To me, Instagram food suggests food that looks pretty but tastes bland. And that's what it seems like to me- even without this review.

Agree. I went to his restaurant in ATL a few years ago and couldn't even eat because of the unsanitary conditions which I had to address with the staff. Never received any call from a manager as I requested. You can have a food review but don't be distasteful about it.
Businesses fail all the time; it’s part of business. Darius is still relevant and doing well and making millions as we speak. If the owner of Papis plays his cards well, hopefully he will be just as successful as Darius one day🤞
I like that even if he doesn’t like the restaurant he still recommends that you come and support and give it a try. I think that you should always try things yourself because everyone’s taste is different.
well….the restaurant is still in business. He hasn’t lost 3 restaurants. He’s not traveling state to state cooking out of Air BNBs so that’s something to consider
But Darius is a multi millionaire! Papis opened during the pandemic with PPP money, most businesses take a few years to simply be able to cover their expenses, let alone generate revenue. The jury is still out on how this establishment with fare over the next few years!

You really can’t judge food honestly when you’re eating back to back.. You need to clean your palate before trying the next item! Try lemon water in between.. otherwise your meshing flavors.. jmo 💁🏽♀️

Darius is so extra!!! Mistakes happen like gheesh he drug it out more than it had to be when the lemonade was spilled!! He was degrading the menu before he even tried the food!! The vibe was giving malicious before he even entered the building!!! Jealousy is such an ugly trait!!
I agree... It was just an accident when the waitress spilled the lemonade... Things happen... It seemed like he downgraded every single dish after that... I think the food looked good... If I was in Baltimore, I would still try the restaurant's food myself even after watching his review... Everyone has different opinions... I would never go by one person's opinion for sure...
@@trinafuller5076he didn’t have to be upfront and honest that he was doing a review of the food nor did he have to encourage ppl to check out the restaurant in spite of it not being his personal preference. Darius is very straight forward and clearly can handle all the smoke that comes with giving his honest critique. Darius doesn’t have to “accidentally” spill lemonade on someone just because he doesn’t share the same opinion as them!
The food looked aesthetically pleasing. At least they cared enough to present it well. I am always disappointed though when something looks good, but doesn't taste as good as it looks. But honestly, as a chef, the food never wows me or elevates my taste buds often, no matter where I go. My food has spoiled me rotten. It is what it is. So I am thinking its the same thing for Darius. When you can COOK cook, and you know what you would do, the food in other places just don't compare. I will still go to this restaurant and give them a try.
Seems like a lot of these reviews are based off of how the place decides to stroke his ego, No other food reviewer will go out of their way to make sure a server knows they're being reviewed. The idea is to allow us to get a review and idea of a place based off of a blind experience. Hope you can adjust!
OMG, did yall see how that woman sitting next to Darius, LOOKED at him (Time stamp 8:21-8:22). She had such a look of disgust. And of course, it can all be explained away--right. Chile, it is, what it is!
I wonder if he even asked her how she felt being filmed. Everybody doesn't want a camera in their face, and I'm sure the young lady was embarrassed about making that MISTAKE. She made a mistake.
I didn’t think she was non challant. I actually thought she was kinda embarrassed. She may have been nervous being on camera which may have led to the drink spill. I also Think the recommendation to go check them out may be taken a disingenuous after the review.

Sometimes you wish someone did a little more research. Papi isn't a new fad restaurant owner. He started YEARS ago with pop-ups, did lives on IG of him cooking at home, did catering, then had a small diner style restaurant and then finally opened up a true sit down restaurant. He's been making these dishes and posting them before a LOT of others. I'm not saying he started it but as someone who loves food, has always wanted to be a chef and has been following food shows, channels and pages for as long as I can remember, Papi has BEEN around. Also, I've been to his diner and his restaurant and I wouldn't say his food isn't good. I enjoyed the dishes I had. I'm not saying his food is the best I've ever had but it's not on the lower end either. I'd go back. But as always, I'd tell anyone to go for yourself and give it a try. If the food isn't good and you still want to support...by all means do you! I for one enjoy the honesty, bc I'm a food as well. Give me quality and I'm making stick beside you. My husband is from Baltimore and we currently and just about every place we have tried have been a BIG disappointment. It be giving “we could’ve made this at home.” Stuff just taste slapped together. 😢
I went when they were new to baltimore…over priced and the food wasn’t great…seating is uncomfortable…I can’t remember the dish I ordered, but I do remember the collards(bitter-small portion) 1/5)

G&M Crab cakes are not Baltimores Best!!! It is the best for people that don’t live here! Koko’s on Harford Road is the best and we do not flavor with lemon! Old Bay is our crab seasoning!
I find when multiple people give reviews and they are not private they usually jump on the band wagon. Women especially like to group together it's jus a fact.

Yes I agree. I would like to se a Bar Rescue type like show where he and or guest chefs get in the kitchen and maybe like helping with their food cost and making the dishes that need the most help their way. Or maybe get a team someone for cocktails , someone for desserts etc.
Seems like a lot of people are mad when people get honest. Half of the people mad about his reviews , can’t spell, use punctuation, or compose a proper sentence. Have you seen the ratchet, unhinged responses from the owners and their minion’s? People who get mad, seem extremely uneducated. They don’t have the ability to process a review, take constructive criticism, and utilize the feedback to better the customers experience. Those who can utilize basic intellect , understand what a review is , and they have the self control, and proper mindset to take it in, appreciate the review, free publicity, and make adjustments accordingly. This can be the best thing that happens to a business, even when the review wasn’t rated the best , he has had business owners who respond like an adult, and responds as a BUSINESS owner should , who understands how to run a business. Those who get upset, act like a fool, curse, and rants that go on in paragraphs without punctuation, misspelling words, bad grammar etc. Their response shows their ignorance, lack of education, and the inability to control their emotions, and act like an adult with couth . Those who act a uneducated fool, are those who don’t understand business. They are probably the same people who flipped out in high school because you bumped into them, or the person who curses out the fast food workers at the drive through window, because their fry’s are cold. Probably the same people who throw liter out of their car window, or open their car door, and dump out the trash from their car into the parking lot. These are the uneducated trash humans that exist in our country. Darius is an educated black man, and I don’t mean educated as in college, because even with a college education, we have adults who can’t use proper grammar, punctuation or spelling, who somehow have a college degree . Throwing trash out of a window, or into a parking lot ,is what an uneducated adult does. Acting like a fool, using paragraphs or writing sentences and making comments , like an angry child, who has no self control, is a lack of education. The person who raised them , probably didn’t teach them proper etiquette , or how to properly communicate when there is a problem or conflict in life. Some people had parents where they were not allowed to talk, have feelings, or discuss the trauma they may have experienced in life. So, the child grows up an angry adult, who doesn’t know how to properly express their feelings, or communicate when they don’t like what they hear , or if someone disagrees with them. Stop yelling at your kids, telling them to shut up, not letting them be allowed to show an emotion, or have an opinion, because they grow up aggressive, angry, and then blow up and embarrass themselves with their inability to communicate, or form a proper paragraph or sentence. You’re so worried about your child sweeping the kitchen floor properly, that you forgot to teach them or be an example , of how to handle a social situation. Or know how to write words in the proper context. We have people out here selling food. Who own a business. Who will post things like this on their Facebook page, or website. “Bake chicken for sell” Where is the “ed”? Because it’s BAKED CHICKEN FOR SALE , not sell. Grown people, commenting, sorry for your “lost” . And no one in their family knows it’s wrong. No one says anything. And 20 other comments saying “lost” ,instead of “loss” . How do you have generations of people who dont know basic language. Because people are too busy yelling at these kids, having them clean behind you, and no emotional or social skills. No ability to properly express themselves calmly with a level head. Darius is educated in a well rounded capacity. He has the ability to utilize his culinary skills and social skills ,to provide feedback to help a business better themselves from his reviews
This guy is allowed to have his opinions but some of his statements are rude. He says a lot of stuff, doesn't mean they are all true. For example, he came to Jacksonville,Fl and went to a couple BBQ restaurants. He gave them a high rating but see I live not too far from both places and they are okay. I'm not sure if he would have given them a high rate if he knew what I witnessed that caused me to not go there anymore. So, your experiences are yours but because it's not to your taste or your liking does not mean the dish is a low rate just because you say so. Be kind. Don't knock someone unless you can do better.🤗
