Papua New Guinea celebrated its first Independence Day on September 16, 1975, ending almost 70 years under Australian administration. Look back through the ABC archives at the ceremony, which featured then-Prince Charles addressing the crowd in Tok Pisin and the raising of PNG’s official flag at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
