Paracordist how to tie a lanyard knot, Prussik knot to make a paracord belt

I came up with this when a "built in" belt on a pair of outdoor pants I have was severed. I like it so much my field-expedient replacement still resides on those pants! However, in this video I use a loop and two strand diamond knot; on mine I use a loop with monkey's fist knot instead. Check out my website for other cool stuff:

I have never been so helplessly incompetent at following what seems like a simple knot. Usually good with knots, I've wasted 4 hours trying and I'm not even close. I wasted another 1/2 hour trying to follow the narration. Because I see you perfectly capable of doing this, I know I must also be capable, therefore I keep trying. My frustration level is absolutely through the roof right now.

Thanks for teaching us. I made a Cobrad (or Solomon) adjustable belt out of it, using your technique. I really like Prusik knot.

was wondering if anyone might know which not this is in the ashley book of knots, the knot listed as two stranded diamond knot is definitely different than this. it is not as elaborate or look quite as nice.

@monsterofcookiez it is hard to follow,but not impossible. I think it would be easier to follow if it was viewed through his eyes not reversed in the camera.

i would really like to see someone tie this lanyard knot on an object like a knife or compass. i've been trying this knot for a while and cant seem to get it. :(

Awesome video. I can tie the diamond knot without a monkeys fist, but when I have a monkeys fist can't seem to tie the diamond knot on the end. Can you do a video on how to tie the diamond know on the end of a monkeys fist?

Good knot work but....your fingers are in the way and you should show the knot from the view of the person making it.

You must have the patience of Job or the most disobedient kid on the planet or both. I thought you did a good job with your presentation but I wanted to reach through my monitor and address manners with the kind in the background screaming "daddy". Unless she was dying there was no reason for her to interrupt. Just wait till she's 18.
