I own a Paradigm Reference Series monitors from the early 2000 and from the sound of this video I can notice right away the trademark light & smooth veil these still seem to possess. They're essentially the Senheiser of speakers. Oddly unoffensive, yet still rich and detailed.

Paradigm have since gone up in price substantially, which is why they have this entry level stuff made in China to make it more affordable. Their better stuff is still made in Canada.

I told you so! Paradigm makes amazing gear Z! I have owned many many different sets of Paradigms, none have let me down when used as they are intended (as you have discovered with your Atoms). I would invite you to check out more of their speakers, I suspect you will be impressed and perhaps your OHM Walshes will become nervous.

I recently picked up a pair of these in perfect working (and cosmetic) order from Value Village in Nova Scotia for FIFTEEN DOLLARS. They are the best speakers i've ever owned. I'm a budget listener, but own JBL 305P monitors, some classic Sound Dynamics (Concert 500s), and others. I couldn't BELIEVE what i brought home!

I bought this exact setup to replace some tired studio monitors in my studio/office, now I know the clarity and dynamics I was missing. I couldn't find used amps as inexpensive as the PA3. It's quiet, clean, runs cool and is perfect. Personally, I like them right side up but I get why you have them where you do. You're right these speakers are power hungry but they do perform.

These do have an advanced crossover too - "2nd-order electro-acoustic at 2.3 kHz ". So yea, like you mentioned, it helps. I like how Paradigm always lists highly detailed specs.

I just ordered my first 5.1 system. From the reddit I wanted something budget 500 if possible to 800 with room to grow over time. Settled on micca mb42x with matching center (rb is not in stock anywhere), micca cavo s for rear, Bic America f12 12in sub, and denon avrs540bt receiver. Was going to get the klipche reference setup as it was on sale for 599 but needed a receiver in addition. I also have fluance sx6 as my desktop speakers. Really anxious to set it all up

They don't make the Mini Monitors anymore (Bookshelf with a 6 1/2 woofer), but those were unicorns for low cost, high value speakers. They worked awesome for me in a mid sized room. Incredible sound. With a subwoofer they are insane. If you can find a set of the version 5 - 7 used, I would jump on them.

Hey Zeos, When can we see a video review of the Dayton Audio Sub 1500? They're only 200 bucks on Parts Express and Amazon. Also, really looking forward to some Emotiva Tower reviews like Airmotiv T1/T2. Maybe compare them with Elac UniFi's and Debut 2 floorstanders. Lastly, you said in the Topping MX3 review that you wished the subwoofer out had a crossover such that once you plug in a sub, it eliminates sub-80hz signals going to the main speakers and only sends them to the subwoofer. Did they ever come out with a MX4 or something? Or what product from other lines would you recommend that has that feature? Thanks a lot! :D

We used to use Paradigms as nearfields (15 years ago?).. before switching to Tannoy actives and now Neumann KH 120s (which are amazing for what we mix)

If any of us following where to buy these, where would we start in setting them up? I've always been into portable audio but am moving on from Bluetooth speakers and am wanting a decent fixed setup at home. But I have no idea what I need after I've bought a set of speakers. Cables, Power Input, Amp? What's the bullet point setup for the uneducated?

whats your source? if pc use a dac into a reciver or stereo amp. if blutooth get a reicever with blutooth input : so if dac then rca to reciver/amp then speaker wire from outputs to speakers. SOURCE interconects AMP speaker wire SPEAKERS

In Mazzy Star "Mazzy" is with with a short "a", so it rhymes with "jazzy". Sorry to be so nitpicky, but they 're one of my favorite bands of all time... Do check out their masterpiece album "So Tonight That I May See" (1993) as well as their debut "She Hangs Brightly" (1990).

Different category i guess, swans are active with tons of connections. I have the Edifiers 3000 and love them.

Atoms would probably be top, if not a little too accurate and expensive, for most peoples tastes. Otherwise for active speakers, Edifier and Swan are the top still. For passive speakers, I would trust what he said about the Paradigms. They are some of the best speakers I have heard in person. The ones I listened to were from the early '00's and full tower. But I would bet from what he says it sounds about right. Top passive speaks would be these, especially if he is talking about replacing the Q100's with these, because those are some really good ones, I would have recommended those. Otherwise for active, rough tie for the Swans and Edifiers, wouldn't go wrong with either. I have the first gen of the Swans and they sound good, but from his review, it sounds like they made the right tweaks to fix the issues I have with them. For reference, I have a full Definitive surround system, separates pieced together, not one of their all in one kits , and Tannoy active studio monitors on my desk, I like the accuracy of them and they have the perfect amount of low end for my space.

In the 90’s Paradigm was one of the best values in speakers. The decline of the local stereo store really hurt their popularity as they had been slow to adapt to online sales. Paradigm would blow away speakers twice their price side by side. I haven’t heard new Paradigms but my old Monitor 11’s still kick ass in my brother in law’s basement.

I've literally been watching Zeos since I was 16, recently I've bought my first set of (decent) speakers, Klipsch RP-500Ms and they're great! Never give up, follow your dreams and whatever, one day you'll be able to afford something great. I'm almost 21 now send help I'm getting old

I have Paradigm 3se mini's from the late 80's, they blew me away the first time I got them working. If it's one thing they got right it's definitely near-field. But do not changed the woofers in them, I found that out the hard way. The old woofers were so worn out the refoam was useless, but they sounded good for a while, stuck ones in to "replace" them, they just don't sound the same.

Paradigm rocks, the bookshelf size photos always have GREAT bass. Great sounding. CLEAR and bright. I do see some differences here though. RUBBER surround and INVERTED. Paradigm always did FOAM standard surrounds that rotted but DAMN did they sound good.

the swans are powered and the paradigm's are passive, the monitor atoms are the lowest end product paradigm makes so you can always go up in price of you want.

Most small monitors are not made for brain-eating bass, just balanced, punchy, sound. Mainly. Some of those cheaper KRKs or Pioneers, are made for bass-heavy monitoring, though. Depends what your monitoring goal is. Paradigms I'm assuming, will always aim more for punchiness and accuracy, over overpowering bass. Not what "monitors" (real studio monitors) are intended for. I've heard the newer Yamaha monitors (Powered) are really, really good, too, around the same price. Paradigm seem to really still keep their quality up high, which is nice to hear.

I may buy a pair of those later on. It's either that or some of the newer Yamaha powered monitors, which I have heard at Guitar Center, they aren't bad.

Paradigm put a lot of effort into balanced frequency response. Their measurements in many reviews are quite flat, rivaling much more expensive speakers.

Ahh, my next purchase will be............. either PSB P5s. Or. Paradigm p3 atoms. Cost wise it goes to the P3s. But I'm not concerned with cost at this point. So I dont know which way to go. By the way, I'm going broke because of you MR. ZEOS !!!!!!! I currently own so many speakers I had to buy a speaker switcher to have them all hooked up. I actually have speakers still in the box unopened.

Cheapest possible of the entire collection available... Try the Premiere Series... OR .. Look at the Prestige or Persona for possible technology.. And I promise you.. they only get even more refined and better sounding ( if not the best looking) ... Promise. The sound will be the best you can buy.. Bar none. ( & yes.. I work fo them ... haha but i am an audiophile .. that works there because they are that good) ...

I’ve never met a Paradigm speaker that wasn’t thoroughly engineered and didn’t sound great! My 1992 9se2’s will never be sold despite their large girth.
