A Valley homeowner says her HOA wants to fine her because she installed artificial grass. Now a state representative is stepping in, in hopes of preventing this from happening to other Valley residents.
She's saving $1,100 a month in just water, HOA needs to 🖕 off. %90 of water bill goes to water grass. I'm so glad Cave creek has rocks instead of grass.
I use to turn my nose up to it. But got my attitude handed to me a while back. The quality has so improved I couldn't tell the difference. Think about the time, money, water, heart ache it could save you. We don't need full grass yards here any way. I adore them too. But really this is the desert. We need to wake up and adapt instead of abusing our resources.
Especially when you live in a multi-million dollar home. Must be one of the gated communities. I grew up in PV and we would have given an HOA a heart attack with the stuff we did.
My HOA fined me for the someone’s car being parked in front of my home on a public roadway! I had no clue who the car belonged to! Ive called HOA and emailed them multiple times. And they never returned my calls or emails,
they had finally got back to me! I asked the Manager what took so long to get back to me. She told me they had never received anything from me. I told her I have copies of the emails I sent to them. But When I explained the car they fined me for wasn’t my car! The HOA manager told me, I was lying. Because they have police officers that work for them and they ran the plates. I told them if that was true then she would’ve known that car didn’t come back to my address. She stayed quiet and said “oh well you need to talk to who ever owns the vehicle”. I told her it wasn’t my problem, that they needed to figure it out in they’re own!!
I think it looks really nice. Her HOA is absolutely crazy to expect her to keep natural grass alive by wasting water when the artificial turf looks so good and is also saving the homeowner a lot of maintenance and water usage costs. I have my own private home and can do whatever I like with my property. Even though I live in a state that gets plenty of rain, I think lawns are a waste of time and money. I don't water except in very dry spells and am filling in any parts of my lawn that croak with pollinator-friendly white clover. Doesn't need to be watered or mowed as often, doesn't need any fertilizer, week killer or pesticides, stays green even in dry spells and looks beautiful.
i still say a more natural low maintenance/low water desert xeriscape situation is better than toxic heat retaining/releasing non renewable and non reuseable chemical plastic as 'landscaping'..
At least she’s still making an effort. Any cut back is helpful. Some people also have pools but doesn’t mean they want to remove them. I say “back off HOA”. Drought is eminent
it is a good idea , saving water in the desert is right thing to do ,HOa, have way to much power over home owners ,and act as bullies which should be stop everwhere from bulling people with their lawyers .
I live in the midwest and we an area between our home and garage 12 X 8 ft that struggles every year to grow grass. The sun is blocked most of the day and between fertilizer and water and just plain wasted time and money, I gave up and bought some artificial grass. My husband thought I wasted more money and it would look ridulous. Last year in the spring I laid it down and he is absolutely satisfied. So far nobody has even noticed the difference. This year I have another little secret that he is unaware of... our dog has ruined our front yard with urine stains all over. I'm painting my front yard green where all the damage is done. I am done with grass seed and patches.
If it is quality artificial grass I don't think this should be an issue. Look it comes down to this. If you are saving resources, helping your community, and the environment with class and style what is the problem? I get the whole idea. But put some standards for the types or quality needed to be accepted. I have seen it done with taste as in this incident. Best wishes to all involved but we have to be able to be responsible, educated adults who communicate. Seriously this is insane to waste the time and money. You can have all the money in the world. But no amount of money will ever be able to buy class. Make your evening amazing and never stop moving forward.
Artificial grass blended into landscaping of other live plants and/or hardscaping such as patios and rocks is absolutely desirable. This HOA, like so many, are so concerned about image intelligent cost sits on a smaller throne.
how long will it take for her to really see money savings lol; it is insanely expensive to install that much toxic plastic non renewable non reuseable chemical heat retaining/releasing fake turf..
$1100 savings every month is $13,200 every year. I'll bet you can buy lots of fake turf for that. You can store the toxic fake grass next to your toxic battery using Prius or Tesla.
