These are my personal hints and tips that work for me,I am sharing them to give you an idea of what could possibly work for you. I am not saying they are the best way or the way you should do them, please take that into account, there are many fantastic pilots doing such movies on RU-vid that may well work better than mine, what ever works for you is all that matters.

Best explanation so far. Thank you. For high winds do you recommend Cobra or center A's ( as shown in another video)? I'm used to pulling A's and using the above pulley technique already on normal days.

Well I myself when I always arrive rig side on and get ready then cobra for the first launch as it’s rigged in that position, after I land to chill then come back to it all I re open it and launch with the inner A’s. 👊🪂👍

Awesome. I'm only a beginner but I find Cobra launches straight forward after watching this. The way you showed to set up the glider is spot on. However there are a few things missed out (unless I missed them) that I discovered from watching other videos. Firstly and importantly, make sure your up wind/hill riser is on top or else when the wing comes up you will find yourself facing the wrong direction to launch and you will need to do an extra twist to face forward. Secondly, you only need to initiate using the outer A not all the As on the top side. Thirdly, the top brake hand controls backward/forwards as explained in this video but your body turn controls up/down. Turn into wind/downhill to bring the wing over your head, turn away from the wind to face uphill to bring the wing tip down. I find this launch is equal or easier in difficulty as the reverse launch now. Maybe it's good to learn both together as a beginner - it had helped me recover the wing when it goes terribly wrong while doing the reverse launch for example.

Hi Marc, great vid, made learning the cobra on my own much easier. Quick question though; you said you can do either left or right twist when rigging up, doesn’t the downwind riser have to be on top? Otherwise you’d be turning 270° to face into wind instead of 90°?
@leavesleyaviation

@@leavesleyaviation Hi Marc, Thanks for the quick answer. I am beginner and have started training the cobra launch. It does not seem so difficult in laminary wind. Tell me, is more difficult in turbulent wind than the back launch?
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation 3 года назад
@@erikpfingstner3902 Yes harder because you need a nice smooth flow to launch the wing tip slowly into the air, If turbulent it comes up and swings all over and makes it all go wrong.

I've been trying to do cobra, I can get the wing to go straight up, but I can't figure out how to pick up the wing from the ground, the other side of the wing just stay on the ground the whole time
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation Год назад
So you need to once the wing tip is up ie done the first part of the COBRA you then need to pull on the brake of that side gently and move under the low side, that's it!
@davidwanj
@davidwanj Год назад
@@leavesleyaviation thanks for the reply, my problem it that if I pull the brake, the wing just falls back down, instead of popping off the ground
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation Год назад
@@davidwanj So if the wind is rather light this will happen, walk backwards if the wind is light to power the wing up and while pulling the brake. But also pull brake gentle otherwise this problem your having will keep happening. If it is windy and this is happening your pulling the brake too hard. Just smoothly and gently pull it.
@turkeyphant

I get the bit about bringing the A-riser across and keeping lines slack etc. but what's the idea behind leaning away? What lines are you trying to engage with this?
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation 2 года назад
Leaning away/forward helps when the wind grabs the wing and helps stop you being pulled over.
@turkeyphant
@turkeyphant 2 года назад
@@leavesleyaviation Thanks. Doesn't it potentially overload the As leaning back like that though? I don't get when you lean back and when you want to run under the wing to get it overhead.

There’s no real need to do that I don’t think but if you wanted to and if it’s not too windy of course just apply brake one way and as the glider drops to the side lean away hard so it does not pull you over, BUT I would say it’s much safer to have quick out carabiners and just release one side, this would stop any drags.
