Flying the jurassic mountains while there was some northerly wind. I flew to the lee-side of the hill and managed it to climb up again to continue my xc-flight.
Wow, amazing pilot. If this was me, you would have watched a video of a guy standing at the side of the road making a call. "Hey, I am sort of in a pickle here. Can you please come pick me up at (GPS-position)..... Thanks, you're a life saver..... See you in 4 hours then.
It's awesome to see this video with 84k viewers and I was like: oh my god it's look like Frinvilier, but wait, it is! I fly arround Chasseral too, greatest low save I ever seen, bravo Dominik!
Like a boss :) Reminds me of my home "flying site" with elevation of just 50m. It sometimes takes a lot of patience to get up little by little from just a few meters but it's well worth it. Take care.
well done!! these are the best flights!! where you think that youre grounded.. and sunndently you hear the beep of the vario ... fight fight fight .. and u r on the cloud base again!!
Usually no, many factors with little get out clauses. Nothing wrong what they done, however they may know this area very well and have flown this pattern before. Unlike any other aviation we have no control tower or controlled landing strip. Your flying by the seat of your pants. Knowledge is everything in Paragliding, probably the most dangerous aviation sport in the world, but it is so addictive.
Yes that is the big risk you take in the sport of paragliding, as I said unlike other aviation the most dangerous aviation in the world. Paragliding dangerous mainly due to zero control, but maybe that is the attraction to pilots that wish to fly paraglider and not say small aircraft from a small airport, control tower, I am ready for approach what is the wind direction and speed over, it is all done for you not much to think about. Paragliding is a skilled game of chess which is very unforgiving when it go's wrong which is 98% pilot accidents error or an eBay cheap deal and then into a deep stall and later you find out the lines have shrunk, keep kit new up to date never go cheap in aviation. Most never even do a SIV course, rare if pilots pay for post tuition, so they learn by mistakes, something very wrong here. As recently a pilot 360 into the deck his first 360 in thermic air low air time, now in a brace. If he paid for post tuition he be walking and enjoying the sport. Question how would you make the sport of paragliding 110 % safer ? And get the message across?
Great ! But I wonder, if the thermal had to do with the luv- or lee-side. I think, it is more because of the sun shinig direction and because of the road below. ? Your opinion ? And as far as I'm concernd, I try not to have a look on my glider during These Situation, because I lost my concentration and miss the thermal often.... ;-) Your Video is very inspiring !
Yes, it was because of the sun shining direction and I think also because of the road below. But the thermals on the lee-side were much more stronger, because there was no wind....
It´s a Variometer. It indicates if you are climbing or falling and since you can´t look at the display all the time it beeps when you start climbing. The more beeping the better ^^
@@DomesticDave No way! I always park my car at the train station of lommiswil to take the train to Weissenstein :-) Just made my furthest jura flight from weissenstein last year: www.xcontest.org/2018/world/en/flights/detail:nick/21.04.2018/08:48 Ps: I live close to Biel and flying a lot in the Jura, so maybe we gone see us in the future...
@@breitingair Sure hope so. Ive made a few flights from Weissenstein and had a couple of close calls too with the launch, which makes me a bit nervous. Any help / tips for Jura flights would be greatly welcomed. I learnt in Verbier and seem to always fly there, my second home and feels safe because I know it so well. Also they all speak English there too, which helps, my German sucks. Trying to improve my thermalling which is a must for Jura flights, made my first 1000m climb last week to just over 3000m. Very pleased with myself. If you ever want to play teacher, I'd bee happy to learn from a pro. email david.familylewis@gmail.com.
minch333 He was getting so low to the ground that most people would prepare for a landing but this guy doesnt want to give up,. He finds a little tiny thermal " warm rising air" which is the little beeping noise, and manages to just get enough height to keep going
Dominik Breitinger Thanks! I've never been paragliding but would love to do a tandem ride one day. I live near New York so no mountains..... It looks beautiful there thanks for posting!!
