One of the probs I find myself doing is trying to make all the audio on the same curve, when naturally it isn't. I wish I had a formula to go by. It's really hard to go by ear sometimes when I have done about 30 different remixes on a piece. Once I get better I will know why certain signals should be held at bay more than other.
Hi Mike, if you are needing to use the sound remover and also correct, poor quality, vocal audio what is the appropriate order of operations and or layering to make sure it's done correctly without further distorting it?
Hi Danielle, my first word would be a word of warning, it's always best to get vocals right at source. Any sound remover or noise remover will affect the quality of the vocal recording and further processing of the "repaired" audio can also highlight the damage done to the vocals when using sound remover and noise reduction. Only use these tools minimally and before you do any further processing. My best advice would be to remove the unwanted noises and re-record if you are in need of high quality audio.
Love your videos!! A problem I often have when I edit podcasts in Audition, is that the guest or host have a lot of spit in their mouth, and you can clearly hear it when they speak. Is there anything I can do about this problem in post-production?
Thank you for the support! To address the mouth noise issue in post-production, try using a combination of spectral frequency editing tools in Audition, like the Spectral Frequency Display and noise reduction effects, to target and reduce those unwanted sounds.

I'd love to know what settings to use on backing tracks in the Audacity EQ so not to have to dip the gain. I know that's not what you should do but I've never really understood EQ so I just leave it alone.

Hi, this would only be achievable if you have the multi track recording or if you recorded the two voices panned left and right. The frequencies within the two voices would overlap too much to be able to separate them from a single track.
Thanks Mike - I have learnt from your videos that there is such a thing like a Preview Editor! :-) which is great but I"m stuck on one thing - in your videos you play the clips before the effect and after (top and bottom preview windows). Visual comparison is good but I need to HEAR the difference before applying the effect, but simply selecting the top or bottom window to play doesn't make any difference. How do you select the before or after window to play? thanks!
@@MikeRussell thanks Mike. Now I have a different issue and can’t find the solution anywhere. The Multitrack inserts a much longer silence at the end of the tracks than the length selected in Wave - instead of few seconds it inserts 1-3 minutes. Clicking on the Zoom out to Full icon has helped once, but not for another audio. How can I trim the excess silence at the end of the tracks before the mix down so that when the audio stops the playback doesn’t keep going for another minute, and reflects the length of the audio saved in Wave? Thanks!
@@MikeRussell there is nothing, zero, zilch. One track is over 2 minutes extra long, the second track is 4 min. while both are trimmed to the correct length in Wave. I have cut out the extra bits with the slicer and when zoomed out full - it is now correct. There must have been some ghosts of the audios I cut out earlier. thanks!
I cant use any preset in parametric eq... it's show the message ".... 'the preset .... did not load correctly'... I already reinstalled. Do you have some idea about this?
The issue might be related to the version of Adobe Audition or specific presets. You may need to update your software or check if the presets are compatible with your current setup.
Hi. I have Zoom F6 recorder recently for playing arround with audio. But my in my opinion, seem like my zoom f6 sounds too brittle, metallic, harsh and edgy with every mics. Especially when I use a brighter mic like sennheiser e935. It is hard for me to get a good smooth result with equalizer. Some certain high frequencies spot, like 4khz and or beyond seems too emphasized. Is this normal? I will send you a file sample if you dont mind. Thank you

Hi Mike I have a question, I can't find answer on the internet. Why HP Filter in parametric EQ, when applied, sounds different than FFT filter - I mean that for example cutting 80 hZ down in both gives different sound (and also the track looks different, as if the phase was shifted) - in case of parametric EQ - it sounds higher, in FFT more natural. It's going to sound difference depending on the gain curve you apply (default 24dB/Oct). FFT is more straight line than curve unless you turn on "spline curves".

Can I ask Where the hell has the initial and final stage of all the filters gone??? It was there since Cool Edit Pro. So does it mean that in LEADING audio editing software I can't just go gradually from high pass to full range etc? The most popular DJ effect? WHERE is it?
Why do you ignore the fact that the FFT filter does not affect the phase? I agree that parametric-EQ is more convenient. BUT. Do a low cut (high pass) in parametric-EQ and in FFT and compare the results (both frequencies and waveform).
Hi, are you looking to change the EQ over the length of the audio? If so you'd use keyframes to control the various elements of the FFT filter through the duration of the audio.
