Pure heaaaat! Incredibly groovy and catchy. I've had it on repeat since it's release. It's definitely different than their prior work, but still has that Paramore feel. Sounds like an infused mix of hayley's solo stuff with a splash of Paramore. A very nice cocktail if you ask me.

I don't think Hard Times is better than this. When I first heard Hard Times, It took me couples of weeks before it sank to me. Now this lead single is already getting into my head. This is better I guess and the Music Video is so much better. They are in a real world. Not in those fake place and fake thunder or clouds... Lyrics, maybe I give HT a 9/10 and this one is 8/10. But over all TIW is winning for me.

@@hmadden I feel the same way. I enjoyed After Laughter as an album, but I wouldn’t say Hard Times was something I enjoyed first listen. This is Why had me grooving straight away! Pretty pumped for their album next year. And excited to see Paramore tour videos.

@@bobthebuilderday6leader have you seen the snippet they uploaded? I thought the track on those snippets would be the lead single and it sounds so much like a Brand New Eyes especially Hayley's voice. I thought it was This Is Why snippet but it's a different song. I guess this album is harder than the After Laughter vibe. I also love After Laughter especially Told You So and Rose Colored Boy and that song that has lyrics like "standing here like I'm supposed to say something..." I forgot the title, but based on Hayley's interview last night, she said, she's happy that they were able to put some rock and roll I guess.. That's how she stated that (not word per word). I guess we have some anthem in this album So excited!

I was hooked from the get-go, since I was scared that they would do a retread record, so to see them go in a post-punk direction which also feels like an evolution from After Laughter was both a sigh of relief and pure hype.

5 and a half years later and finally new Paramore. I absolutely loved it from a musical and lyrical perspective. As a die hard Paramore fan since 06, I really vibed with this. I'm a huge lyrical person and I put a lot of my opinion on the vocals and word choice. Wasn't a huge fan of the simplicity of the lyrics but they made up for it with killer vocals, amazing riffs, a great bridge. I've loved them through it all and I always will. This is no exception (pun intended). So while lyrically I wasn't in love, the music got me. So so catchy. Perfect lyrical elements of a simpler pop song with the sound of something...else. Fiance compared this song to Burning Down the House from Talking Heads lol. Hayley is so talented with her vocal range and the guys just constantly kill it. I'm so proud of them. They will ALWAYS be my favourite band.

This is exactly how I feel! One of the things I've always liked about Paramore is that their lyrics are good and relatable, but this time they're so simple it surprised me because I remember for AL Hayley said at first they were writing simple lyrics and she didn't like that so she went and rewrote some lyrics. Good thing instrumentals and voice are fire, otherwise I'd be very disappointed.

I'm really excited for what's coming down the pipeline. I used to be more one note on music, but over the years have really started to appreciate the change that artists bring from growing through their sound. Paramore are playing music that they're excited to make which is a win in my book. While it's different from older past material and there will inevitably be people who don't like it so much, I think it feels like a natural progression from after laughter and also still retains this unexplained element of what makes Paramore "Paramore", if that makes sense. I like that they're actively trying to make music rooted heavily in drums, bass, and guitar as well.

I really really hate to say it & wish I wasn’t feeling the way I do about it, but to me it’s waaaay underwhelming. I appreciate the growth & progression, but as it is, I’m disappointed

I actually liked the song on the first listen itself (and it has been growing on me with each listen). It has been two years since I got into Paramore, so I'm even more excited for their comeback in 2023.

I just got into Paramore at the start of the pandemic so This Is Why will be the first album released while I’m a Paramore fan! I’ve listen to Riot all the way up to After Laughter. Still need to listen to their first but I’m so excited for the new era. I love alt music like this

Okay, not even gonna lie, I was in the same boat as you when I first heard it until probably the bridge and the final chorus. From a simplistic standpoint, this song is so infectious and makes you want to move. From a complex standpoint, there's also just so much going on in this song that one or two listens doesn't give it justice. That's the double-edged sword I suppose. For people who listen once and never again, they won't be able to really appreciate how complex this song actually is. It's definitely a song where everybody puts their best foot forward.

I've only heard it once and I really didn't like it especially the Chorus however after reading everyone's comments I'm going to listen to it a bunch more times.

The chorus is definitely going to be stuck in my head at least for the rest of the week. I really like the tone of the instrumentation. I liked Hayley’s solo albums and what Zac has done since 2017 with Halfnoise (definitely feel some of those vibes in this song). So I really look forward to hearing what they have creatively as a group.

Such a long wait, but Paramore has always come through for me, idk about the song yet, gotta listen a few more times, even the album will only be 10 songs I hope it will be good!

I remember hearing After Laughter back in 2017. I was on a family trip in Florida, and I was walking down the Pensacola beach to the pier and everything was just perfect. Bummed that they take have been taking gaps between albums and that the track listing is so short but I'm ready for some new Paramore, even if I am a nerd for Riot! and their older stuff.

The pop punk Facebook group members are SUPER divided on this one, even though some like it when bands switch up their style.

It took me a second listen due to my wife suggesting .I do and I see exactly how they’ve evolved and grown. Yeah that opening guitar strum reminded me of radiohead king of limbs era and the bass and drum that followed reminded me of cans “vitamin c “ super groovy

I was at work when it came out and decided to give the twitter teaser a listen. Only got 5 seconds in before I had to turn it off but I didn't like what I heard (now I know its the chorus). Then on the way home I gave the song a listen and I got chills from Hayley's vocal performance and the chorus fits perfectly. Zac is amazing on the drums and Taylors guitar playing is just mesmerizing. I love this record and I'm 100% waiting for more singles and finally the album. And they better come to the UK for a tour. I'm not missing another chance to go 😤

I definitely agree with the comparison you make between this song and that Brand New Eyes vibe. I got that too, very swiftly and probably mixed with After Laughter, but I'm definitely excited, and ever since Hayley became bright as a sunset again, I just can't expect anything other than good, old Paramore *reimagined* and *grown up*.

I agree, it definitely grows on you. It's a got a bit of Gwen Stefani in there too. It's a challenging track and may not set the charts on fire but it's interesting enough to make you more curious if it's a direction or a one off. A lot of Paramore's songs really come alive onstage and this could be one of them.
