When talking about "spooky drugs" parasiticides will always be on the list!
parasiticides commonly used for fleas, ticks, lice, and heartworm include:
Isoxazolines (Bravecto, Simparica, Nexgard, Credelio, Revolution Plus)⁠
Moxidectin (Proheart 6 or 12, Advantage Multi)⁠
Fipronil (Frontline, PetArmor Plus)⁠
Spinosad with Milbemycin (Trifexis)⁠
Selamectin (Revolution)⁠
Imidacloprid with Flumethrin (Seresto)⁠

I do not use any of these products because of the risk of serious adverse reactions. There are no antidotes, but there are safer alternatives!! ⁠

My dog was on Simparica Trio and lost a lot of weight was vomiting yellow bile and had bloody diarrhea several times a week. Vet always told us that they can’t find anything wrong with her. After running all the possible tests put her on Rx diet. And then it got worse . I took her off the medication, started feeding her home made gently cooked food with healthy gut from Adored beast and some slippery elm. Now it’s a year later and my dog is happy and healthy and hasn’t had an episode in months! But she has fleas! And after going hiking covered in ticks for days! Super scary and gross. Trying all the natural flea and tick remedies . Wish me luck!

Finding Fipronil in the water isn’t only from dogs. People rarely take their dogs beyond their property, sadly, so that doesn’t make sense. It’s actually in herbicides sprayed on crops and it’s being washed into lakes and rivers 🙃 the info came out recently. Even scarier.

My dog had epileptic seizures until we stopped using the tick collar. And my friend, because of the pills she gave her dog for ticks, had paralysis of all her limbs, we barely nursed the dog back to health

I have had all kinds of issues with fleas this year. I have also had issues with both of my dogs. One developed oozing sores and bad dandruff. The other has had more serious issues- refusing to look up, not wanting to walk, lethargy etc. Both symptoms improved after not giving them the flea meds. Which leaves me constantly battling fleas. My cats freak out after a spot on is put on them- that alone tells me they shouldn't get it. Now with the dogs....not giving it to them ever again. Will be looking up other options that hopefully will keep the fleas away.

My dog is heartworm positive so has to stay on HW meds. I cannot find plain Heartgard anywhere I can only find the combo Heartgard plus. It's so frustrating. He was HW positive when we adopted him recently. I've never given any of these meds to my dogs before. All my other dogs have always lived well into their teens without it all. The new dog is starting fast kill treatment this week. We've done x-rays and he does have activity in his lungs. I'm doing everything I can to build his immune system. We're in Florida so I need to stay on top of helping him heal.

Had a dog with IMTP... lost her at 11 but she could have lived more... I learnt the hard way. Gad a rescue with severe dry eye. No more chemicals for our other dog...

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years for natural flea relief is that one method isn’t going g to cut it…you’re going to have to hit this from all angles possible…means treating the house and bedding as well as the pets depending on if they are dogs or cats it makes it a bit different cuz cats can’t be covered in the same stuff you can use for dogs as they wash them selves so much…DE is what I find works best for cats and treat their bedding with it as well as LOTS OF CAT NIP …they roll into and when they eat is the oils come through the skin…with dogs I use DE as well as a mix of natural oils combed through the fur but making sure the bedding and house is kept clean and treated as well and flea comb daily

Nexgard was about to kill my bulldog he started being very aggressive and developed a lot of allergic reactions . the drug company refunded me😔🙏🙏🙏

Thank you, I was about to give simparica to my 2 year old dog - I saw 1 flea on her. Got natural sprays and powders and using flea brush for now. Giving me hope. Fleas can still bite them on simparica and jump on the dog. Will try to manage it till it gets cold enough for fleas to die. We just had heartworm test and all clear

Hi guys I saw one of the videos talked about Rose Geranium oil and you put dot on the back of the cats neck and bum area to repel fleas. I can't rem which video I saw that in but think it mentioned it doesn't need to be diluted and you can use it neat for this. Just checking if that is correct, don't want to hurt my cat? Also does it need to be organic Rose Geranium oil or can I just use what is sold at pharmacies. Thank you 👍🏼 🙂

Neem oil has been around forever and is another favorite. The spray I use for my horses (Ricochet) contains neem and I love the smell. Rose geranium oil is safe to use full strength directly on the pet, but you will only need to apply one drop behind each shoulder blade and one drop near the base of the tail. Other oils should be diluted before applying to pets. Oils can be diluted in EVOO or water and rubbed throughout the coat. They can also be diluted by putting a few drops in your favorite pet shampoo or conditioner."
