VERY INFORMATIVE! thank you so much for posting this! I just had to take my best buddy of 13 years for her last ride to the vet on 1/6/22 . She was diagnosed with advanced stage lymphoma. I firmly believe that this was in a large part due to Sorresto collars which was making her vomit then her vet prescribed sympirica. I feel so guilty now that I thought I was doing what was best for her. I have been doing some research. I have changed my other 2 dogs diet and will never again use conventional flea and tick treatments!! I have since fired my vet and found another one that specializes in natural medicine.

Our pup was prescribed Simparica and a few weeks later he started throwing up and returned to the vet and he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Our pup has mostly been fed nutritious homemade foods and treats and an occasional brand treat. We are devastated and thankful he is still with us but now I make safe flea spray.

So sorry for the loss of your buddy♥️. I lost my precious toy fox terrier, Lila, who was only 9 years old. My vet’s office recommended the Sorresto collar for her and she had a seizure in the middle of the night that required me to drive 30 miles, with her screaming the entire way, to an emergency vet. They stabilized her and sent her home the next day. $1,300 for that visit. She never fully recovered; was walking into walls and just falling down. She had a second seizure 3 days later and was euthanized at my vet’s office. NONE of those involved with her care wanted to hear about that flea collar and denied any possibility of it being the cause. I told a friend what had transpired and he said their cat had the same thing happen about 2 weeks after they put a Sorresto collar on her!

When I go horseback riding and the Deer Flies, Black Flies, Gnats and mosquitoes are terrible, I look for or bring with freshly picked Catnip plants! I crush up and mangle the whole plant in my hands then wipe the plant and my hands all over my horses heads and special areas where these bugs love to bite! Chest, groin, under jaws and even myself! When I do THIS to protect my barn cats, you have to do it FAST because they get SO HIGH and playful, they can get crazed and wild! I've been accidentally bitten, so go fast on cats! If you put it on dogs...cats will love them but the flying, biting pests leave them alone. Catnip grows wild and really fast! Try transplanting some in your gardens, too!

My tiny dog had a terrible reaction to the Lyme vaccine. She started vomiting foam for 2 hours straight. My vet wouldn't acknowledge it was a reaction because it happened 2 days later. She wanted to give my dog the Lepto shot that same day, but I told her I would prefer to split them up. My dog wasn't right for at least a couple months afterwards, very lethargic all the time. Until I gave her homeopathic Thuja, and she finally recovered. That was her last vaccine, we never went back for the Lepto.

My dog developed neurological problems following use of seresto collars. It took us 3YEARS to work out what the problem was. I wrote to Bayer and they replied that it was obvious the dog wasn't used to a collar, or that it was put on too tightly. Laughable I kept a diary and wrote again, asking how they explained the symptoms. They couldn't, and eventually they gave us compensation - a very small amount though. These big pharma companies are too big to sue. All I really wanted was an apology and a recognition that the collar was at fault.

Excellent info. Thank you so much. You would likely find lectures by Barbara O'Neill (a series called From Sickness to Health), very interesting. She also describes causes of disease from a natural perspective. This is for humans but I think excellent principles for all natural life. In the 1800's, a writer called Ellen G. White wrote: Drugs never cure disease, they simply change the form and location of the disease. I do believe these words still hold true in many cases. Her books are excellent for crazy insights into holistic health, like her book: Ministry of Healing, completed in 1905 or somewhere there. She had incredible wisdom regarding true causes of disease and using the laws of nature to support health.

I haven’t used prescription flea medication for my dogs in over 25 years. I always have a dog or two in my life since I’m five years old. I’m 73. I do everything holistic even when I buy the kibble it Hass to be all natural I even buy either the freeze dried or dehydrated raw dog food and I make them my own chicken soup for them and they get bone broth. I also give them fermented probiotic foods that I make for myself. Such as Kiefer and fermented carrots. They are healthy as can be, they have no fleas. I have no flea infestation they have a beautiful coat. They are lovable they have a beautiful personality. They are very affectionate and well behaved, and I have no issues with them, because I treat them as those in my children. Which I love them just like they’re my children and I make sure I have time for them each day. We truly are a family. We connect very well with each other. And they do not destroy anything in the house or outside of the house.❤

Hi, I love your story. I would love to go all natural for my dogs and cats, but I don't know what to do. I do cook their food and have done this for years but some of my cats won't have it. And for fleas I'm clueless for both my cats and dogs. What might be safe for dogs won't be for cats or some ingredient may not be safe at all. Can you give me some tips? One year I decided to not do anything for their fleas and oh my lord my cats and dogs got fleas all over them! I had to treat my house, yard, bedding my bed theirs use flea combs on everyone it was never ending and a nightmare! I don't like using toxic spot on treatment but I had to go back to that too get rid of the fleas breaks my heart and so costly but I'm lost I don't know what to do.

@@susan4981 I’m not sure about what safe for cats. I don’t know when a cat I have only dogs. To start off with my house has no rugs. I have tile floors throughout my whole house. In fact, I just have one tile pattern through the whole house. I cover my furniture with blankets and sheets, so they don’t dirty my furniture and I wash them at least once a week I definitely vacuum. I also underneath my my sofa and chairs anything upholstered I sprinkle baking soda, and then I am put the blanket over it or the sheets this way absorbs odors, and it also kills fleas and mites and bedbugs. As far as what I feed my dogs as I make them chicken soup and I put carrots and celery in a few spices in the broth. I don’t know cats could have that. I’ve heard that nutritional yeast are added to their food helps with the fleas. When I give them a bath, I leave the shampoo in a few minutes and I use shampoo like Castile soap with a little bit of baking soda in it, and I leave it on there code for a few minutes, so in case they have any fleas, the soap kills them. And then I rinsed them with the apple cider vinegar solution because vinegar also kills fleas and keeps their hair soft and it’s pH balance, and kills bacteria and fungus on their skin. I brush them at least every other day to make sure they have no knots in mats and get all the loose hair off. And they spray them with apple cider vinegar. A few drops of lavender oil diluted in water and spray bottle before I comb down I clean your ears with witch hazel. I brush their teeth with coconut oil. I give them fermented foods and probiotics. My German shepherd eat, sauerkraut, carrots, and she loves milk kefir. Both goat and whole milk and I give my Yorky the Kiefer. He does not like fermented foods at all. The broth I get from the soup I give them. I know that sounds like a lot of work. But it really isn’t. It’s just a routine that I have and it works. They don’t have fleas. And I also clean the bottom of the pads and sometimes I rub oregano oil diluted with coconut oil. That’s about it. Good luck.

I do lightly cooked meat and or raw. The cooked I have mixed in some garlic and or AC Vinegar and they haven't picked up any ticks since. I didn't think any thing of it until I found a tick crawling up my leg. They were sticking their faces in foliage in the woods where they typically have picked up multiple ticks. I also bath them with spearmint natural soap. I also stopped vaccines last year since my boy had a very bad reaction to one of the mixed vaccines. I was told they have had issues with it in the past with bad reactions to death. I was pissed because there was no informed disclosure on it. The reaction was fairly quick as he woke me up whining in the middle of the night of the day he got the vax. He couldn't walk and was in great pain. His chest and arm was extremely swollen. I thought he was going to die. I'm calm in these situations but this boy means a lot to me so I was a bit frantic, out of character. Within a month he had a lump appear on his chest. Went back and they said it's a lipoma and it wasn't from the vax reaction. I'm not convinced it wasn't caused by the toxic vax since he's 5 and we eat healthy as well as very active. We haven't been back since.

The fleas are vicious and relentless and I cannot rid them. I clean constantly. I bath her in the sink almost weekly, which is so tiring and I get tore up as well. I am so tired of this, even using coconut oil that is all over my home. I will never get a pet again. Here in Tennessee, you cannot get rid of them. My cat is an indoor cat but the fleas come in on me or however. I have sat on my porch and they will jump on me. I only keep my baby because I love her and she was my daughters cat and my daughter is not with us anymore. I love animals, always have been an animal lover but never again SADLY!!! Just found your channel recently. It is wonderful. I found four feral kittens and a young mother living behind a carport at my job site. I started helping them out. But the mother abandoned the kittens far too early for them to survive so my wife and I made the decision to adopt them. We already have four rescue cats and on top of that these cats are feral so they cannot be handled or around other animals. Therefore I built a massive outdoor fenced in structure the entire length of my house with a ramp that leads down into my basement that I basically turned into the forest where I found them. I insulated the floor and then brought all of the leaves and shelters I made them and sticks and branches. They basically have the same exact life with just less real estate and no dangers. My question is this. I want to protect them as much as I can from Heartworms as we live in Michigan and it is a viable threat. how do I do that with cats that I cannot touch or handle? I cannot spray in all natural flea preventative on them because they won't let me near them. Any suggestions? Please help.

The way that DE WORKS is by drying out whatever insect that crawls over it. I am using it right now on my cat that I treated with advantage11 just a week ago. She was so infested I had no choice ,however it did cut down on fleas, but didn’t get rid of them. So I am now combing her four a five times a day as well as applying the DE. I find because fleas jump a lot,They don’t crawl over the DE to get dried out. I am using the DE in the garden to prevent fleas there as well as in my home until I get this under control. I will never again use these chemicals, but my poor girl was just so miserable with so many fleas.

I have also been told by a veterinarian not to use peppermint essential oil on them also neem oil is what we get for our trees to spray them to keep the bugs off so I can understand some of that but is that going to be harmful in the long run and what's the difference between the time we buy to spray on the trees and bushes then the one that we get for the the dogs

We've been using K9 Advantix and is it sucks. We've tried lots of other topicals and they don't work either. Our Vet who's in the same office as Dr. Dodd doesn't prescribe ANY of the pills. Help we just get overwhelmed from spring through fall.

yup! Usually anything that is safe for dogs and cats is ok for humans, especially with essential oils.

My vet practices holistic medicine as well as regular and we are on the same page. Our border collie has a Max and Molly Soundsheild for ticks and fleas. I have been giving her the drops down the back every other month but strongly considering not doing that any more. She eats what we eat for supper like the farmers used to do with their dogs plus a very high quality kibble mixed in. She is not vaxed to the hilt, just distemper, parvo and rabies given separately a month apart. I use a diy mosquito/tick spray with cedar, lemon and other EO's that I use on her head and nose, down her back. I can't get near her with a comb and she won't let me near her toes or under her arms or legs. That's an issue.

I've been rubbing those ingredients into a bit of olive oil, (glass bottles) rub it through my hands, and wipe my dogs underside and inside legs. And groin. I'll rub his coat. No spray bottle , he hates it. Then I'll comb him through when we have rub pet time. He's 13, I got her m 7 months ago when he was too sick for parents to care for 24/7. He was a nipper, biter growler.. but for that 6 weeks depended on me even to pee and poop. Never had pets before, but knew I didn't want conventional so did what if do for me. He even lets me trim his nails. If he got a few fleas, he is more likely to let me do it, because he had them when sick and had paralyse so couldn't even scratch. So I warmed water and olive oil and sat on a towel just massaging it in little by little. Fleas couldn't move and I combed them out. Hehis a tiny Chihuahua. But was quite defensive. Now , with no commercial dog food, and natural treatments. Hey s like a puppy/ cat/ deer.. lol A different dog ..

This dog peed "jello" a bit before he got sick. After a monthly drop. We still dont know what it was. Perhaps Parvo. It's a mystery disease they said killing many cats and small dogs. 3 vets wanted to put him down. But he kept eating. And watering. And pooping and peeing. I had to hold him to do and spoon feed. But I wouldn't want to "go" either if I was eating filet mignon and sirloin everyday. ( Among other foods. Pumpkin, squash, oregano, garlic, low heat wilted spinache, carrots, banana, blueberry honey vinegar ACV w/mother. White an wild rice bits I soaked to capacity in bone broth. Chicken, pork loin. Raw ground Liver, I've added small dog kibble back, but it's soaked in bone broth each night for next day.

I would thoroughly research EUCALYPTUS OIL before using it, and ensuring the oil you're using doesn't have phenols which cats are unable to metaboiize.

Second tthat, never give your cat Eucalyptus oil it's more than just toxic to them. They can't handle it at all. Small amounts of lavendar and cedar are safer. Eucalyptus is a big no, no with cats.

I can't keep up with fleas this year. I've had no choice but give them flea drops AND Capstar along with diatomaceous earth, daily bathes using Dawn dish soap AND combing several times a day. 😭 I'm going to buy rosemary plants for every room in my house. I'm exhausted!

Of course you had a choice! Flea drops are NEVER ok! As stated, the health of the animal is key, it's the same with people and plants. Bugs do not like healthy hosts. The soaps, DE, and safe essential oil preparations and garlic will go a long, long way to safely protect.

Same here...I just found this channel n feel blessed! My cat was using Frontline for 2.75 years n has now become immune to it!! Yeah, took him to the doc..bc he developed two bald spots..well, doc says, "what he is experiencing is a flea infestation." I couldn't believe it!!! So now he is on Revolution Plus until I can figure it all out. So far so good. I clean at least 4 hours a day here sometimes longer, bc we live in the country..n fleas have bc a real problem n I am exhausted too!!!!! I wash linen twice a week, their blankets, etc...allll the time. The doc on this show mentioned garlic for dogs n cats, but wonder if 1/8 of a tsp. Would be ok..have you tried it??❤

@desertheavens I have used DE earth friendly n my petite maine coon, developed a itching condition. Now she's on a vet prescribed flea topical n she's doing fine...but would like to try something else. She is going to be 18 y.o.a n has a very sensitive stomach..don't know how she will do with the recipe the doc shared...stressed!!!!😮

@desertheavens soaps dry out the skin and animals will itch n itch from being so dry unless one purchases a good shampoo from the vet or pet hospital..shampoos from the grocery stores have pyritin (sp?) N SOONER OR LATER YOUR PET DIES. DE is not for every cat. Mine developed dermatitis n she will see the vet again soon. Essential oils need to be the ones modified for animals only. Garlic is not good for cats.

And you have to crush it and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, so that the allicin (the beneficial component of garlic) gets activated. If you eat garlic immediately, without exposure to air, it’s basically useless, except to flavor your dishes. The allicin is what makes garlic a super food, and allicin needs air to become super 😉.

These very intelligent doctors are reading from a script. Anyone can do this. I would find these videos more believable if she spoke more freely. Or off a cue card rather than a fullout script.

Also, if you could show the process of using the product for the cat and the dog before you go out the door and when you return, that would help cement the process. I was wondering if I could just make some catnip tea and spray that on my cat? can I give my cat a little bit of garlic safely?

Hi, Off Topic comment, I hope you don't mind. I feel awful. My neighbor fed, he had 5 feral cats when he died. He was the false humanitarian. His animals were completely reliant on being fed. He never trained them to hunt. He never took them to the vet. He just died. The cats began coming to me for food, and I fed them. I found that he had died. I am trying to be responsible for the animals. 5 cats, an old neutered male, a 'barely out of kittenhood' Mother, (she went into heat recently I think she is pregnant), and 3 kittens maybe 6 months old, 2 kittens normalized to human petting and affection. Animal control says bring them and have them fixed, then bring them back to their environment, stop feeding them. These cats can't hunt. I feel awful, but I can't adopt all these cats I am looking at weeks coming up where I am in between, when I am out of town. I have no one to care for them. I want the two domesticated kittens. We love each other. I feel I must harden my heart, take the two kittens on the road, and stay away, from home for a few weeks. Maybe someone has an idea for me. Oh, did I say, the old man had an out of control massive flea infestation. Thanks for info on that. The cats have Fleas.

@@thenaturalpetdoctor I didn't realise just how many things we can do to support our dog's health and immune system, or the methods we can use to deter parasites without having to give him pesticides. I also wasn't aware of how effective catnip essential oil can apparently be for deterring mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas. I made Dr Karen Becker's repellent spray and am especially pleased that cedarwood essential oil can calm our dog *and* deter ticks and fleas. We live in a high-risk area for ticks, so vigilantly checking is still #1.
