Watch this video as I coach Renee (@rtt7374) through strategizing vocabulary targets. NOTE: First question I ask--- "what is being used spontaneously?" AND "Are the words being generalized to different activities/communication partners?" Getting this baseline is CRUCIAL to assessing a child's vocabulary so that we can expand a child's language organically. When we do this from a foundation of what children are already doing on their own, we're more likely to have success. NOTICE: I ask Renee what she thinks before I tell her what I think--- #reflectivecoaching! Also--- selecting two words/phrases during an activity can streamline your approach.
