Welcome! I'm Lori, and I founded Teach Through Love because I'm passionate about helping adults resolve daily conflicts and nurture children's development by using conscious communication.
Parents, teachers, and caregivers are the most influential people in a child's life. My Conscious Parenting Courses and Communication Cards have helped thousands of parents and professionals break free of reactive patterns and unconscious beliefs about "discipline" that keep them stuck in negative cycles with kids.
I want to help adults increase cooperation and connection by communicating in ways that help kids feel heard and capable of change. We can help them reach their full potential and learn to solve conflicts and collaborate with others when we shift how we respond to their needs and feelings.

"When your child is upset, there is not something to fix, but there is something to know". That´s brilliant. You should have all those sayings gathered in like one place, in a printable version, categorized in each topic, so we can hang it on on fridge to remind us :)

Hey, thank you 🙏🏽 it was relatable to my toddler’s demeanor and us parents. Very open and covered multiple scenarios of when my son exclaims for joy or frustration. Asking if he’d like a hug centers our focus on one another and both attentions are neutral. He usually overcomes whatever angst of tragedy he felt and recovery response time is more immediate. Took about a day and a half to establish . It’s like that expression was I learned and forgotten with a happier us. Thanks

My 3 year-old daughter has always had, and still has tantrum episodes every single day. It’s humiliating. Bedtime is so stressful EVERY DAY! And this is not the only time she is out of control. I have tried it all; routine, stories, positive reinforcement, games, etc., still, nothing works. We can't figure it out...we would appreciate your input... I'm all ears!!! Thanks!!!

She was scared of reading at the beginning - afraid of being mistaken. Yet right after 2 months followed this reading guideline *4ChildrenReading. Com* she has started beginner novels and reads on her own! The results genuinely amazed me! Any age level could use this method.?

Gave my screaming toddler a “quiet stone”, wore it off the head 6 seconds later followed by laughter and a hospital visit. My own screaming and crying came after, I didn’t want to show her weakness, she can smell it.

I´m glad I came across you - I predict having a lot of watchin´ to do :) One thing I find so hard is to model the behaviour I want - it´s not easy to keep my cool; I sometimes feel as if my own emotions are on the same level as my childs! I guess the key is to just keep reminding myself, and take a deep breath. Easy said, not easy done, heh.

i've come here cause my baby sis has been screaming nonstop for the past few days, during such tantrums my mom or dad would get angry after it goes on for about a few minutes and it gets bad to the point of smacking with a slipper, today it got so bad my mom didn't actually try and stop my baby sis from screaming so much and it's honestly real annoying, i hope i could get advice from other parents to show to mine, i want it to stop so badly

I have a 3 and a 2 year old and most days I get so frustrated they both go to kindergarten and all das how great they are but as soon as they see me they just change and scream and cry and don’t listen. It’s really getting to me especially her screaming and stomping whenever it doesn’t go her way from the minute she’s awake till we get to kindergarten and the way home as well. I know she may not understand both speak fluently so I just am at a point I have no idea with my husband They are also so sweet

Imagine being a 1year old where you want smth but can’t verbalise. The easiest and most efficient way to get your parent’s attention is to scream to tell them heyyyyy I want thissss or I am bored! Let’s go somewhere plssss! Just have to know that they are not being brats, they just want you to get what they are thinking asap. The best response is to remain calm and delay. You don’t want them to know that once they scream, they get what they want. Else it becomes a thought and action sequence. Redirect their attention to something else and lead them instead to what YOU think or want them to concentrate on.

This behaviour keeps occuring as long as parents give the child what they want when they scream. Or when they give in when they scream

I have two babies who think its hilarious to scream like I'm killing them. A 3yr old an almost 2yr old I have a 10 month old following suit too. So any given day I have 3 kids screaming an making each other scream. My neighbors think I'm hurting them they scream so often an loud I'm on the verge of getting put out of my apartment cuz of this. I've only been here 5 months and I'm in a brick building. Idk what to do nothing is working to get them to stop this crazy screaming.

What about throwing the towel in. Like a wet towel in the face. My aunts son would hold his breath tell he turned blue. Her doctor told her to keep a glass of water in the refrigerator and pour it on his face. He would take the deep inhale, man that's cold breath. Haven't tried that I think that is not a nice way to do it what do you think. I think it is painful to hear screaming and on the bullying behavior side and that screaming is hitting people's ear drums?

Uh, no not everyone deals with screaming children or tantrums. My childhood home did not allow either of these things and neither did my household of two youngsters. And yes, all turned out well and successful.

How about TIME OUTS & taking away toys/playtime/playing w other kids. If you CONSISTENTLY discipline bad behavior with an appropriate time out, it WILL work I promise you!! Consistency, consistently, consistently!!!! I can't stress that part enough. Hang in there 🙃👍😜 you got this, mama!

Search positive discipline instead of any rewards systems oh hahah this is an old comment still if you have children of any age this is what will help.

Okay. No one wants to hear this but it’s time to get tough. Not in a mean way. But, my 2.5 year old would scream every single night sometimes for 45 min when I layered her down for bed, bc she knew I would pick her up and bring her to bed with me. Well I had to say enough was enough. Bc she is way to smart. I set a week were I had to make a commitment that I was not going to bring her to bed with me. Yes it was horrible it broke my heart but it had to be done. I let her scream it out. I would go in her room without picking her up about every 10-15 min while she was screaming and say it’s time for bed sis I love you. I made it quick and brief. After the 4th day she stopped screaming as long and her screaming after that got shorter and shorter each day. Then one day! Boom! It took about 8 days. She laid down and covered up and was just fine! Now she goes and lays in her bed by herself with no screaming. Praise the lord! It’s not easy but it can be done.
