Hundreds of parents who were defrauded of millions of shillings in the Uasin Gishu scholarship scam are now demanding for a refund from the Uasin Gishu county government. The angry parents narrated how they sold land, buildings and other property to finance their children to the Finland-Canada academic airlift program, only for the millions of shillings to be squandered by the county officials. over 150 parents put the leadership of the county to task over unexplained withdrawals from a bank account where the parents had deposited fees for their children. And as Laura Otieno reports, an MoU between the Uasin Gishu county government and the Tampere University in England complicates the dicey situation, as both parties agreed to not pursue legal means in case of a dispute in the course of the program.
