Parents Want Change After Bullied Daughter Dies by Suicide 

DISGUSTING! My child was being bullied by a teacher, and when I reached out to the school, everyone, including the principal, made excuses and thought my child should ignore the teacher. After nothing was being done, I took it to the district office, board of Ed, and filed a police report. This is when the assistant teacher decided to stand up for my daughter and spoke up. Now action was being taken. Sometimes, we have to become vicious beasts as parents just to protect our kids.

Ridiculous how Flora was suspended for being bullied. Absolutely ludicrous.

To continue bullying her after her death, is downright evil and despicable.

A parent finding their young child dead from suicide has to be one of the worst nightmares.

You transfer your kid, home school them, do anything possible, but DO NOT EVER trust the school to handle bullying. This is so heartbreaking.

Get a really GOOD attorney and sue the school district and the families of the brats that bullied your daughter!!!!! People need to be held accountable!!!!!

I was bullied. I did everything right: I told the teachers and the principal, but nothing changed. I was taught to use self-defense as a last resort, and it ended when I broke my bully's nose. When the principal made me call my parents and tell them what happened, my dad answered the phone and said, "Did you start the fight or was it self-defense?" I said, "No, I didn't start it, and it was self-defense." He said, "Okay, you won't be punished when you get home." The principal wasn't too happy when she heard that on speakerphone. The principal wanted a meeting with my parents about what happened, and my mom put the principal in her place regarding me being bullied. My mom snapped at the principal and said, "He did everything right! He told the teachers and you what was going on, and nothing changed! The other students knew he was being bullied, and they even told the teacher, and nothing changed!" Finally, she said, "If I hear once more that he's being bullied by this person, I am taking it to the school board and pressing charges for you not doing anything." And my mom and dad just walked out of the principal's office after she said all that. It stopped permanently. You don't want to go to war with my mom when it comes to bullying. I feel so bad for this girl.

It's more than just bullying. It's abuse, it's harassment. They should've been expelled.

Bullying is just horrible but bullying someone who committed suicide and is still bullied in death is just evil.

My daughter was bullied in school. My husband and I would go down to the principal constantly and nothing was ever done about the bullying. Schools pretend that it doesn't happen in their school. My heart goes out to Flora's family.

When my girl started not wanting to go to school, I thought it was part of the pre teens rebellion, until she finally told me that a boy was bullying her. She was only 12 years old and the boy was 14 years old. The young man's parents and he lived very close to my house, I went immediately and told the mother what was happening, she called the son and told him: "the next time you dare to insult or bully this girl, I myself will go to school.... and tell you... I will bully you in front of your friends, since you started this problem....now you have to defend her from everyone" and that's how it was, no boys or girls ever bother my girl. I would not give this problem to the school principal who does nothing to protect the kids...

When I was bullied back in school, I got suspended for "tattling" on the bully three times. The way bullying is handled needs to change ASAP.

We had an eighth grade student commit suicide two years ago. He was bullied because his father had killed himself. Bullying NEEDS to be taken more seriously. I want lawsuits.

She was getting bullied, but the principal even suspended her for getting bullied? The school needs to be shut down permanently and the bullies, teachers and the principal must be charged 20 years in prison for murder. I am so sorry for what the girl and the family had to go through, rest in peace, she is in a better place now for ever.

My son was being bullied in primary school by two older kids who couldn't manage to pass 5th grade. When I went to see the teacher she said that "her hands were tied." I went to pick up my son one day after school and he was crying yet again, with a black eye! I waited until the two jerks came out (no parents picking them up, of course). I took them by the collar (I'm a tall woman!) and told them to leave my son alone in future, or that I'd be back with the cops. My son had no further problem with these creeps. But online bullying is much more difficult to fight. The school was very culpable of this child's suicide. Shame on them!

That school district should be held responsible. That is unacceptable to punish the one who is being victimized over and over again when they knew about it. RIP Flora so sorry they failed you 😔

Suspended for speaking up about the bullying? Victimized by the bully AND the school. Tragic. So sorry that Flora was treated so poorly. She deserved better. I think it’s the most kind and compassionate that find the bullying so difficult to manage. Kids shouldn’t have to deal with this.

My daughter started getting bullied at school. The teachers didnt take it seriously. I showed up to the front door of the bullies home. I did 6 months in prison after that night. I will defend my daughter to the death if need be. I know I cant defend her from prison but at least now she has the reputation of having a father who will defend her.

I wouldn’t keep bringing my kid to school if they were being bullied like that. “Make it a great day.” That’s just crazy to me.

We should stop calling it bullying and call it what it is: harassment, threatening language, and assault when it gets physical. I feel like calling it bullying just minimizes it to teachers, staff, and parents.

Schools act like they can fix bullying, but they don't even try to fix it. I got bullied a few years ago for an entire school year and the bully was not even forced to give an apology at all.

Parents need to encourage children that if a child is being bullied online remove yourself from social media. People had a life before social media.

A year ago, when I was her age, I almost commited suicide. Both times because of bullying sometimes in person but mostly online. All these people can talk about the pain, but it's nothing compared to living it. Waking up everyday, wondering if you should go on like this. It's a truly horrible thing that I think should be addressed more in our country.

This is why the Ten Commandments need to be taught in schools. When I was in school, we were taught the Golden Rule to treat others the way we wanted to be treated! Punishment for being bullied is inexcusable! We send our children to school to learn not to be put down and bullied! My daughter was bullied in fifth grade and switched to internet academy; it was a good choice for her. I'm grateful we have those options nowadays.

It hurts how much I actually relate to this case. Me and my older brother (both with mental illnesses) were bullied, my brother verbally and me sexually. When I was started high school (in the UK, so I was 11/12). The school did absolutely nothing, and I constantly isolated myself when I was home. I never left my room, and eventually I developed really bad anxiety and depression, considering my other mental problems. I put up with the bullying until I was 14, until I finally told my parents about how I wanted to self-delete. I was so insecure about myself, and was so close to doing it too, that it’s actually scary. I’m homeschooled now, and I’m currently applying for colleges to study criminology and criminal justice to become a homicide detective. I genuinely hope her parents can find peace, and know that Flora will always be remembered

I was bullied at school I never told my mum as I new the head teacher wouldn't do anything about it as they same thing happened to my second sister, my mum went to see the head teacher with her brother and he thought he was from the press. The girl who bullied her didn't get thrown out of school until she was found to be pregnant with the caretakers child. I was nearly strangled nearly raped twice and hit with hockey sticks. Schools never do anything about bullying 😢😤😡

I am so sorry this happened to your family. My child was bullied her entire school career. I look back and think I should have home schooled her, but as a parent, I kept thinking it would get better, they would stop, she would be okay. It was the worst time in my life. My daughter made it. She is a beautiful girl inside and out. Now some of those bullies try to talk to her when they see her. She just holds her head up and walks right past them. She doesn’t even acknowledge they exist. So sad that bullies have to make themselves feel good at someone else’s expense.
