As a vanilla lover I’m really enjoying this one. I’d dare say it’s my favorite discovery of 2023. I completely agree on the cinnamon front, it’s perfectly blended without giving it a Christmas potpourri vibe. I also find it to be quite boozy and very musky.
Tried this at nordstom earlier today. Its probably the most mass appealing in the brand other than maybe their fresher stuff. Ive been looking for a masculine vanilla and i think this is it. Just gonna wait till my bottle of benz black is done and this to hit discounters to get it.
@@thomfuchs benz black is is a smoky vanilla while althair is a bright sweeter take on it while replacing the smokiness with some cinnamon. I'd say it isn't worth 350 at retail but I'f you can get it for around 250 it would be decent. Benz black slightly masculine but still mainly unisex while althair is entirely unisex imo. FWIW this is pretty much exactly what I wanted from angels share lol
I just placed my order for the masculine sample pack from Parfums de Marly, and I chose Althair as one of the free samples for placing the order. I chose Layton Exclusif as my other free sample. I've smelled their fragrances at Nordstrom, but haven't gotten to try any yet, so I'm excited! It's cool how they give you a $50 off coupon code for ordering a sample pack. It's almost like the sample pack is free.
Thank you for this review. I can’t wait to try it out. I love all the Delina’s. Oriana has totally grown on me. I am crushing very hard on Haltane. It smells amazing on me, but totally different on my husband. It gives a peppery, mild musk scent then the pralines come through amazingly. Love it!
Althaïr is so friggin amazing! In love! I layered it today with Diptyque Eau Rihla and its a whole vibe! The raspberry and leather compliments this vanilla so well. Just fantastic!
Very expensive for an industry with TONS of vanilla fragrance. This comes across as a money grab/mass appealing cologne from PDM that’s supposed to be niche company. I’ll pass and stick with Layton.
great content. I detect a similarity between Althair and Absolute Aphrodisiac towards the drydown. We know the houses of PDM and Initio are "related" but the similarities of several offerings are quite telling ie.., Haltane/OudforGreatness, High Frequency/Pegasus, Blessed Baracka/Oajan, and the two above. Do you find similarities in these? Curious...
Hey Perfume Guy, I know this is an off topic question, have you recently thought about making a ranking list about the house of The Harmonist? I know you have made old videos about the brand and ever since there hasn’t been anything else. Really have been interested in learning more about that house!!!
but my brother, this is not the correct pronunciation! الطائر بن لا احد which is the name of that character ( the bird son of no one ) is what it means, nonetheless, he is not pronouncing it right.
I got a sample and wanted to order this, it smells like an English butter cookie with extra cinnamon and cloves, no thank you I am not a cookie, it’s overrated
I was so looking forward to sniffing this and it seemed like an easy scent to like… am I the only who gets some sort of camphorous note at the top? I’m not certain what it is that’s doing that but my brain registers it as smth camphor-adjacent. And it’s not pleasant. It goes away very quickly, literally 3 min and it’s gone, and after that I absolutely love this fragrance. But the opening…. I’m still trying to decide if the rest of the development is great enough to muscle through the unpleasantness of the camphor opening.
This is Good stuff.. But Ya it's different DNA then Layton totally!! I guess not so complex, it actually smells good in the air.. Perform good! Crowd pleasure for sure.. ❤
I see the Layton, but itæs 80% similar to Benz Club Black. The same vanilla is dominating the fragrance. Difference is black = sugary and sweeter. Althair = woodier and a little bit more spicy.
Is PDM, Tom Ford, Initio, and Killian reformulated to have more alcohol %, synthetic notes instead of natural, and weaker performance??? I heard Estee Lauder did this to save $. Ive been reading people's comments that they smelled less appealing and weaker. Thanks !
Although I do enjoy the vanilla scent, I feel that powder scent overpowered it and it would benefit from a spicier scent to balance it out. I usually go with a blend of De Flore from Athena Fragrances which gives a good counterbalance and turn heads. If you would, what could be a likely fragrance to layer with?
I still would go for Babycat but Vanagloria better yet but they are so different as it will depend on mood. This is more PDM DNA and definitely fits their profile and catalog perfectly.
