It's really fun knowing that this tower has randomized drop sequences. The randomized drop sequences in the original tower of terror made the ride even more iconic and now that this has it it's terrifying because it feels like the elevator has a mind of it's own and its not a good one. This ride was already creepy yet sprinkled with Disney magic to make it child friendly. They just made it even more better. They should've done this to Californias one but Disneyland is never complete. 13 stories straight down the Hollywood Tower of Hotel.
Actually they did the same thing that they done for gotg mission: breakout, but keeping the Twilight Zone theme That is pretty good! They make the Twilight Zone even more present with some monsters for the "cage story" or even the 5th dimension!
The updated version seems to be alright and I really like the idea of having several ride profiles, but none of them seem to be as good as the original one. What bugs me the most is the sound design. It barely uses cheesy overly dramatic Twilight Zone music anymore, and the narrator is completely gone, instead they have this little girl with ghostly voice-thing that every bad horror movie of the last 20 years utilized and is kinda cringy by now. And apparently, all 3 profiles suffer from that. This takes away a good bit of the original's character and gives it more of a modern horror movie trailer feel, which seems kinda out of place here. There aren't really any new effects, just the old effects somehow reutilized, and some cool effects were even scrapped completely, like the door in the back of the corridor or the part where you see yourself become ghosts. Also I don't like the fact that you pretty much start dropping at the beginning of the ride and it doesn't build suspense like the old one did. It does give you more "freefall" ride time overall I think, but I liked the "calm before the storm" feeling the original had during it's show scenes. So in the end, despite the new variety of ride profiles, I think I still prefer the original version of the ride. The good thing is they probably could revert it back in just one night because none of the changes were "physical". Maybe they will occasionally bring back the original ride profile in one shaft. But I have to say, this is still waaaayyyy better than the Guardians of the Galaxy abonimation in California.
And here in California we are stuck with the massive pile of shit. What could have been if corporate greed and Marvel's influence hadn't won over the CEO's.

Impossible, because the first shaft is a normal elevator. The one with powerful motors is in the shaft after the 5th dimension. Only there can have drop profiles.
@@towerofterrordatabase true, but maybe Paris’ format can be tweaked to fit Florida’s version. It would just be interesting for the ride experience to have a bit more variety outside it’s normal format: corridor with shattered window and ghosts > traveling through the twilight zone between shafts > drop sequence > end. Imagine if the Floridian Tower of Terror had more terror to it’s experience. The ghosts could interact more with the guests. More rooms in the hotel could be explored. Numerous monsters or spirits from the Twilight Zone could be lurking in the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s walls. All that stuff can happen to build up to the drop sequence rather than being included in it. Honestly, it could even work without the narration from Rod Serling (no offense to him).
