This video drop made my gloomy dialysis Monday much much better! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and y'all have the greatest week ever! 💙🙏🏼 P. S. I had a '78 Bronco with steering like that. Had to start turning the minutes before you get to wherever the actual turn was 🤣
i dont know about those american cars but i have my Lada 1200 from 70's and it used to have steering like that... it took only few minutes to adjust the steering and it was tight and nice again...
Oh man, this is bringing back memories of the green '68 Econoline my father had back in the early '70's. I remember watching him reach over and turn the distributor to adjust the timing while he was driving it.
What a comfortable work space you have with this one Can’t wait to see it cleaned on the outside to see how much blue paint is left on That’s a ripper van 👍👍👍
We had one like that back in the 70's. I was a 1971, 240 6cyl auto and we turned it into camper van and drove it all over the country with the family. Good memories.
That is exactly my story, as well. Ya beat me to it! A Red 1971 Ford Econoline Window van. 240 6cyl auto turned into a camper van. I bought it with a pull-out awning over the side doors... perfect. I insulated it, paneled it, made tufted Naugahyde benches over the wheel wells and a plywood floor with matching indoor/outdoor carpet (think 1976). Wish I still had it!
I love these vans. I had a 1973 V-8 3 on the tree, and a 1970 6 cyl auto. They both had that famous play in the steering. Funny thing is you get so used to that play in the steering that you don't even notice it any more.
I think you’re right!! It’s got a really cool Reading PA Fairgrounds RSCA sticker on it. I was sort of thinking an old, going to the race, hauler 😃 shag carpet would be perfect 🤣
Getting that thing running as quick as you did was an impressive feat. I must say that that is one of the filthiest vehicles that you have dragged in. It’s going to take some serious hours to make it habitable. I wish that you would go back and get that Chevy. I got just a glimpse of it but, I think that it was a ‘51 2-door hardtop which is a pretty rare model. Looks like another epic project for you and your dad.
Same with Jimmys World and Repo Reno airplanes, expensive things to just park and let deteriate over years and then have somebody try to sell it after you drop. Human nature.
@@BudgetBuildz you haven't been defeated until you just can't get out of it. With the plan you say you have.....you will get out of it. This concludes the armchair philosophy lesson for the day!
you guys are one of the few shows like this that I watch that takes the time to clean up the engine bay b4 you start working on anything....finally someone takes the time.....!!!
Another great Budget Buildz video bringing an old Ford Van back to life! This should be quite interesting after a good cleanup and running down the road to see how she does after all these years!
Love it when you bring back the Old School Vehicles back from the dead! These are the vehicles that I grew up with, so it's always great to see them back on the road!!! Love it!!!!
You got to get that van back on the road guys. I’m dying to know what the mileage is on it. Can’t believe it sat that long and those seats are still in decent shape 😮. Definitely have to bring the blue back on it. You guys will definitely turns some heads with this one!!! 👍🏻
I recently sold my 1970 Ford Econoline Custom SuperVan 200 Chinook Cascade Western Trail Wagons 2 Motorvan. One of only five built and most likely the only surviving example. Undoubtedly the only 95-% original one left. It’s basically a bubble top camper van. When I bought it the mileage was 77K but it had been parked for thirteen years. After going through the fuel system I thought I would crank it over to get some oil pressure before really trying to start it. It blew me away by starting almost immediately and it was idling. After 13 years! I drove it for three years before I gave it a tuneup. I did have to go through the brakes and replace everything but the metal brake lines and drums. It actually got 20mpg too.
A friend of mine had a '71 Ford van converted to a camper. It was from up north and a little rusty and had some play in the steering. One day he pulled out of a campground and the steering box fell off the frame. The frame was so rusty that the bolts pulled right through. Be sure to check that location out.
In 1981 when i was 20 years old, i lived in Bastrop,Tx. and Worked at Then Rainbow Oilfield Trucking and one of my fellow coworkers had one of these same vans with the V8 and A 3 on The Tree shifter...Drove it 5 days a week from Round Rock, Tx to Bastrop .
OH my god, memories! I just had a flash back. I had a 71, E300, 302 V8, C6, long wheel base, with swing open side doors, chrome grille and bumpers. Don't believe it had power steering, but had air conditioning. Forty thousand miles in a year, roughly, and then a head on. I had everyone convinced it was a three on the tree. Working in a gas station in the mid seventies, van shows, cruising the streets, going to a friends camp on the Mississippi. WOW! Swivel buckets, and yes, someone shagged this thing out to no end. Thank you guys, NOW, back to reality.
This van is super cool - three on the tree and a v8! Scary that I remember these when new. Actually looks pretty solid considering where it was parked. This one deserves to go back on the road.
I gotta admit, I was imagining the possibilities with this rig. Some nice carpeting, string lights along the back. Find a nice mattress or seats to put in there. Could really be nice to take on a vacation or camping trip. I'd love to have one of these! Great stuff guys. Budget Buildz is one of my favorite channels!
Oooooh. Boy does this bring back good memories, my dad bought a 1970club wagon in 1972 and we went everywhere with that thing. It fit all 5of us kids with room to spare I personally liked alll the windows it had in it it was hard to miss stuff with them❤️😁😁👍👍
the reason the inside of the doors are that green color is because this was once a Bell South van. These old vans where a Bell South staple. Was really hoping yall could make the show at church this past saturday but its understandable you guys are busy. Thanks for the videos.
It’s awesome how you two boys bring these forgotten vehicles back to life love watching you work on the engines then seeing your face when it fires up, maybe get your dad behind the camera more as it’s clearly a team effort? What about turning it into the Mystery Machine?
Oh, the memories. My family had an econoline 200 that my dad custom built into a sleeper unit. We put 200K miles on it. And of the entire family, I was the only one who didn't drive it. Can I come and try it out? I would love to!
Good and you? We pulled just about everything overall save able out of there. 2 Ford Pickups, this and a Falcon station wagon 🙂 Sadly all of the older Chevys there are in very poor condition. That being said, we still may make a trip back out!
I just happened to notice that this van has "Sears RoadHandler" tires on them. Classic indeed! I recall when we used to be this model of tires from Sears wayyy back when.
Good memories! I owned a 72 Econoline 150 302 a/t and used it as a race car hauler from 1978 till 1991 when I parked it in 1991 with almost 300,000 miles on it only let me down once. Coming back from Pheonix we stopped for gas in Tahachipee, the starter gave up. got a new one put it in and we were gone.🤠 🏁
I’ve been waiting for video like this 4 ever I’m a van man I have my 94 plymouth voyager for more than 16 yrs and still going . Great van bring her back to glory 🔥
I'm surprised Dad didn't say anything about the cool green '70's bowl in the dash, probably worth some money to a art deco collector. I would love to see a van build, this thing has got potential all over it.
This thing would be sick with candy paint, ground effects, those little moon eye windows, and a custom shag or deep pile lime green carpet inside, slammed on slotted mags.
Quite incredible you can go to a store and buy parts for a carb, distributor etc for a 36 year old vehicle. And they fit! I reckon that engine survived because it was inside the vehicle even if the mice liked it there ....
