Nope. I've been a 240 Mechanic for 22 years, and I have never replaced these shoes. It's about dealing with the springs ( why I watched this video). He shows nothing about the toughest part of this job. The springs are awful to deal with behind that big hub. Even the Volvo repair books don't give you a clue/tip.
like i said in the video. use some pliers or do what i did and warm up an old screwdriver and make your own 90 degree angle spring puller and you are done with that spring in a second. with the replace the shoes comment you mean the handbrake shoes/pads? i've worked on the 3 volvo 240's close to me. my own and the 2 of my friends. and they all had crumbling and bad, worn out handbrake pads.
Thank you! Not many rear shoe/parking brake videos, lots of good details in this one! Some aspects were skipped over, sadly, not very many though. The bolts for the shoe clips remain mysterious.
thank you for the comment. what do you mean with bolts for the shoe clips? There are no bolts that hold the clips in. Those are hold by the brake pad pins.
@@RollinHeritage Not sure I follow, the shoes are curved, you showed a metal stamped strip that bolted to the back of the brake housing and the shoe slipped under the clip against the back of the brake housing. I am aware the brake pad pins hold the pads in, are you saying they also hold the shoes in?
Nice video, I wish I had this skill level when I had your age. A little more detail on fitting the brake shoes to the notch of the parking brake cable would be very welcome though. Have been struggling with this a couple of times.
@@RollinHeritage awesome! Can't wait to see what is it! Maybe a 340? They are so underated and they are still pretty common in Netherlands, aren't they? ;D
i'm re-making some older video's from now on This one is also on my to do list. so the spring issue turned out to be bigger than expected and that is a good thing. it Can't always be 100% spot on the first try and i'm working on that! every new video posted will be better and clearer!
@@peerik5619 mail mij even. Ik begin 1 april in mijn nieuwe pand in alphen a/d rijn. Daar word rollin' heritage echt een Klassiek volvo restauratie & reparatie bedrijf 👍🏻
