Would be even better if they did show something else than the tutorial. You guys missed many cool parkour moves that can be done in the game, sadly gamology always manages to show the worst gameplay possible.
We need another video with somebody who knows how to play this game. This person missed so many opportunities to show off the different moves and abilities you can have and use.
- Always has runner's vision on - Minimum field of view - Exclusively uses the starter movement Mirror's Edge Catalyst rewards players significantly for doing the exact opposite of this
I wished they used my Mirror's Edge Catalyst gameplay instead :D (I wouldnt even be mad if it was stolen) I have played over 500 hours of that game and know how to make it look cinematic and cool with different kind of movesets and shortcuts and first of all I ROLL a lot :D
I mean, it's Catalyst, where you have to unlock the roll as an ability. Would've been better if they were shown gameplay from the original Mirror's Edge where you have the whole moveset from the start and it is up to the player to figure out the puzzle of each environment.
I feel like having someone who can actually play mirror's edge well would be much better for them to react to, the lines would be way smoother and more satisfying for them to watch and critique. This gameplay is pretty much just stop and start and they're also missing cool opportunities like at 10:05 they didn't wall-run into swinging on the corner pipe to turn faster, they just walked around it.
Agreed. I love this channel, but this is the only problem, and it keeps happening. I'm sure the person playing in the footage never played the game before.
@@infinitespinergy1220 the funniest thing to is that they’ve used other people’s content before. I’m guessing that they cut corners to get these out faster. They probably have someone play it, get at least something of merit, that isn’t completely trash, but is still kinda bad. Then they probably try to ask some creators for their footage, and if it takes a bit or the creator says no, they probably just use the backup since these seem like they are kinda pumped out quickly. Which I’m still okay with them at least reacting to lackluster footage since almost all of the reactors seem really good at working with nothing lol. I do think that better footage and better context would drastically increase this content’s quality, but they are prioritizing quantity over quality in this case.
@@exuv.3654 speed runs are a little iffy in this game, lots of exploits and sorta glitches you can use to basically cheat your way through, bouncy bounce
Alright time for some constructive criticism: The gameplay didn't at all give the game any justice. There's so much you can do in most of these games that I'm sure the experts would appreciate. But whoever you have providing the gameplay doesn't at all know what they're doing. Perhaps in the future there needs to be a better way of finding gameplay from someone who actually knows the ins and outs of the game you're showing. There wasn't a single roll. How can someone play a game about parkour and doesn't at all know to do it in the game. That really grinds my gears. X^)
Right? Idk why they can’t get some good people to play the game the way it’s suppose to be played. Rather then how it’s played when you’re learning it. Very unsatisfying.
I remember that you had to unlock the roll first by playing a bit so I thought that might be the reason why there wasn't any roll in the beginning, but unfortunately there wasn't a single role or unique move in the later stages of the footage either.
@@DevlVergil If I remember correctly unlocking the roll was one of the first upgrades so most (if not all) players should have it by the Elysium mission. And yeah I agree, so many missed opportunities for smooth techniques or cool environmental takedowns
It’s the same for every game review, they have actual gamers in the channel but they decide to use some random who seems to have never played a game in his life
this is what game review are like, i guess they just invite someone who's never played the game before to play the game so they can get a neutral evaluation
I know every shortcut and glitches, the glide glitch, the wallclimb quickturn glitch, the high jump skillroll glitch, the backdash glitch, the double wallclimb, double wallrun, bunny hopping and the barbed wire springboard coil jump.
Yep, on PC you can mod the game to see Faith in third person. The animations are janky af tho because, according to the developers(at least with the first Mirror's Edge), the model was never designed with the intent of being seen by the player.
@@LetterNumber Other FP games are like this. Dying Light (in story mode), there are some hilarious videos of the cutscenes from a 3rd person camera. They don't bother animating the whole body correctly and so the arms and legs and head look really goofy at times.
I think the whole Shard level, especially the fan blade, made me super queasy and anxious. No other game has ever evoked my fear of heights, props for that.
Next can you have them react to high level dying light gameplay? There’s so much more parkour the game offers that you during cover in the last Dying light video
Unfortunately the recovery roll is an unlock in this. Many important traversal techniques are locked behind progression, which is very counterproductive to a mastery game You can increase the width your character can see as far as 90 degrees, which is what I play on. It not only makes it easier to tell what technique you're using, but also the see your environment around you so you can plan what object to use next during improvised sections
Do an episode 2. This game has so much to offer and you can see that they're really mad about Faith not being able to roll, even though she can do it in the game. Granted, rolling is an unlockable ability, but it's an ability that you get really early on in the game.
Holy Shit, this game was constantly being requested by viewers, which means the channel actually reads the comment section and cares to provide quality content. I appreciate that.
They listen for game requests. But always pick THE WORST GAMEPLAY POSSIBLE, like ... HOLY CRAP THE AMMOUNT OF TIMES THEY HAVE RECEIVED FEEDBACK ABOUT THIS IS ASTOUNDING.
Seriously, whoever is providing this gameplay doesn't know what they're doing. There is SO MUCH more parkour, the gameplay doesn't even scratch the surface of it. They did the same thing to dying light, I have 2k hours into that game, and the person who provided the gameplay didn't even show off all the parkour only like 15% of it. Now, I understand it is not that easy to find people who know the in's and out's of a video game, but come on gamology I know yall can do better than that.
Yeah, everything they were talking about with Faith feeling weightless and just kind of *becoming* on top of objects without any effort or animation is much more apparent in Catalyst. The original game forces you to slow down more if you mess up, and when Faith has to do something without momentum behind her to carry her, you can see the effort it takes.
Yeah, on the original one you can really feel the weight of the jumps and the climbing. Also the animation of the feet and hands on screen feels a bit more realistic ngl, but still, catalyst is definitely a lot of fun also
@@r2d2sp1 I dunno about animations of hands and feet.. It feels kinda weird, but I'm not a parkourist. Anyways if they'd remastered original I'll look more forward to it than catalyst. Even though catalyst has freerun mode, but that doesn't necessarily make the game better.
They kinda did this game dirty too. There's so much they did not show or do. Like how do you forget to roll when jumping from high places? I think they need a better way to provide gameplay for the experts, perhaps get someone that knows the game instead of someone who just picked it up and forgets how to play while playing it. X^)
@@96Thompson Yeah, this gameplay was wack, but Dying Light's was so bad it actually hurt. They left out, like, half of the moveset, including stuff like tic-tacs, wall climbs, rolls and vaults. It's a real shame the footage is so bad, because this is such a good concept for a video.
Next time please use a player who knows more about the game mechanics, there's a lot of abilities and moves that aren't used here, the same thing happened in the dying light video and on multiple other videos of gameology, at least on some they actually used people who know how the game works
I think people at Gameology don't know what parkour "actually" looks like so they can't tell whether a video has good parkour or not or is just jumping up and down. 😂
A bit frustrating as I think the concept is amazing, just the lack of execution, I'd gladly hand them gameplay footage if it's that difficult to research the game and its mechanics. I bet a lot of people here would gladly do that for them or I'd honestly recommend them to setup a discord/reddit, vote or suggest ideas and get community feedback on concept and mechanics of the game and could even integrate tiers to suggesting ideas and let the community vote on them.
with siege and payday 2 those people prob had 1000s of hours on the game but for other games like what?? these people haven’t played a video game before
@@sunny_senpai true. Agreed. I think they just never show it. It would be more better if they show her rolling and jumping across the obstacles with legs up owo
4:00 I was in a mirror maze once as a kid and saw the exit so i ran forwards and smashed my face into a mirror, it didn't break and i was fine but still...
A lot of the time their complaints were FOV related, which in this game is quite easy to change. Also the not rolling is on the person that played the game, since the roll is the first upgrade anyone should get.
there actually is a movie that is filmed from first person perspective and has parkour in it. The movie is called Hardcore Henry, you should check it out
Love the fact you finally had them take a look at Mirror's Edge! :) However, I do want to add it's also somewhat disappointing to not have the game be played by a person who knows how to play well. There was a lot missing in the smoothness and variety of Faith's moves, which I wish Sidney and Omar had been able to talk about. Unfortunately, this is a theme throughout most of your gameplay samples, so... I'd say there is definitely some room for improvement there. Keep it up though, I'm sure you'll get there! :)
I wish there had been a shot of the original Mirror's Edge showing what Faith's model does out of 1st person THAT is why this series isn't in 3rd person
The original mirrors edge had a lot less fantastical set pieces for its gameplay, but I think it is the best material for these parkour experts to base their opinions off of. It has a design of not wanting to hold the hand of whoever was playing as hope so it would be interesting to see if they would have any particular feedback as to if the movement and dexision making would be their own or if there would be a different train of thought.
Catalyst parkour doesnt feel as weighty as the first one, it feels very floaty, the camerawork in the first one was fantastic and really made you feel every step you took and every fall in a very satisfying yet realistic way, Catalyst meanwhile feels like your floating when running
Tomasz guys i need help im having trouble which game to get Me or catalyst? Catalyst looks more pleasing and Me looks mors polished and smooth in terms of parkour but its very hard to notice (for me) help?
I feel like more consideration needs to be made with these gameplay decisions, it's really making everyone look bad: the guests barely have anything substantial to add onto, the developers look like their game lacks core mechanics, you guys seem like you don't listen to your audience, and we look unappreciative as hell with all these salty comments. None of those are true at all; you've gathered an awesome cast reacting to awesome games, and you've built an audience that absolutely loves the type of content that you're producing. Whoever's in charge of providing you footage needs to step it up, because they really make or break these videos.
You do get a lot of the feet, legs, arms and hands in view, it's just that the player for the clips was playing on a controller, so he wasn't that engaged with the camera. If you play with a mouse, you always move the camera where you're going and you get to see a lot of physical contact with the environment.
Everyone: Talking about the person playing the game. Me: *Intensely staring at Sydney and realizing she was the parkour girl in that one episode of Cowchop.*
Have you played vector if so what do you think about the parkour moves in it are they realistic enough or what? I kinda want to hear a parkour experts say their opinion about vector BTW you can download it in phone Android or ios
@@gamerguy9282 so actually it’s pretty realistic all around. the way he moves is almost exactly the way you would do it but the moves in game aren’t the actual names maybe for copyright reasons and the fact that vector takes ridiculous falls and doesn’t bruise his heel or break his leg. For example the move called the “screwdriver” in the game is really just a 360 dive kong . Its realistic enough to the point that I was able to make a “vector in real life video” and it looked very similar to the game. Also for some moves he doesn’t have the best form but it would actually work the way it’s intended
@@santi_super_stunts2573 tbh i forgot the last at the world 1 where he gets out of the window following his friend and jumps from a high place yet no ankles broke and I was like this man got the ankles of steel
It's pretty funny that playing these games we feel like we're doing awesome realistic parkour but watching it, it's more like "what's going on here, is she floating?"
This is a good request! I'd say 3 would probably nail the realism a lot better (what with V's robot arm and the crazy shock decoys and such), but either one would be great!
"I would love to see a movie that's like set in the future that really utilizes parkour in some way" my good man, Omar Zaki, you want to watch the movie Hardcore Henry
Far cry doesn’t have parkour lol just a climb button on certain ledges. It is still fun when doing stealth outposts and u jump from one roof to another
It's been 4 years since I've played this game, and all the scenes where Faith is on the giant skyscraper, balancing, almost falling and hanging by one hand, and as well when she was falling from the blimp, I nearly had a fuckin panic attack
I think there needs to be a third/second person (if only one reacts) that explains some of the game details or lore. Like when they asked who always puts those crash mats everywhere and what is the runners vision. At least an TLDR and explaing who are runners in that universe. Also there needs to be a person that played this game before/knows about its mechanics. I've seen a lot of similar "players" in this channel, like a guy in PAYDAY 2 that brought a bow and a flamethrower to a heist and that make the guy reacting laugh.
@@lobaandrade7172 You're joking, right? The animations are ridiculously bad, the combat is even worse than the first one, and the graphics are way uglier than the first one who's still holding up pretty well in that regard (but that, I can somewhat forgive them, since it's an open world, compared to the first one).
@@Kisara-ST I can see your points when it comes to animations and combat (those are subjective, I prefer Catalyst to the original) but you cannot deny like you have the beauty of Catalyst’s graphics, world, and art style. I can also appreciate the original’s art style and design (but objectively worse graphics due to it running on an older engine). Catalyst has its issues and I agree with some of them but you cannot call the original superior, they both have their respective audiences and strengths
imo Catalyst is better than the og in every aspect besides soundtrack and combat. Both the stories are kinda on par, okay at best. The gameplay is way more fun and smooth though. There’s just way more freedom in terms of movement and tricks you can pull off, plus more space to run. Going back to the og after playing Catalyst always gives me a claustrophobic feeling. Also the runner in the video made the game look like garbage with how they were playing.
Even without playing the game, they notice how smooth everything is and how you can't feel the impact of Faith's movements. It would be interesting to see them react to the original superior game.
