34:00 I think the reason they’re doing less single ip lands is just because they’re running out of strong ips that can carry a land. They’re probably also finding it difficult to add on to single ip lands like galaxys edge.
Star tours is just such a superior ride experience to millennium falcon. I think they need to go with a more traditional star wars space battle scene for millennium falcon, but also, the ride profiling is just so limited. Swapped thrill for novelty and interactivity.
There's also just the fact that Star Tours has instant same visit re-ride value, where Smuggler's Run getting budget cut down to one version makes it just feel like the same thing every time.
@TheNamekianClown they really took a great ride concept with star tours, tried to expand on it, and then somehow shoehorned it into a more limited and unrewarding experience. If you boarded the falcon after that queue (or a variation of it not on batuu and w different characters) and then boarded star tours somehow, home run haah. But galaxys edge is so lacking of something... i wish that star tours, jedi training academy, and any other successful star wars experiences from the parks were brought to the land to better satisfy guests.
Wow, what a great episode! I feel like this "Boat Era" started with Fantasy Springs--two water boat rides (Tangled and Frozen) near a flying boat ride (Peter Pan) not far from another boat ride (Sinbad). I'm wondering if the Encanto ride is a re-skinned version of Japan's Tangled boat ride. There is already merchandise of the Avatar Otters (in a pin set). The creatures were cut from the Way of Water. I think the birds in the concept art are the seagull like bird creatures that were in the film.
Makes sense for it to be a reskinned Tangled boat ride. I think the Avengers E-ticket at DCA will repurpose the ride system from Peter Pan. However I feel like DCA is in desperate need of a major new roller coaster. It was rumored years ago that they want to put an indoor Avengers or Captain America themed roller coaster in Hollywoodland at DCA.
@@SalivatingSteve I was kind of wondering if the DisneySea Peter Pan ride will show up as a Captain Hook ride for the Villains Land Beyond Big Thunder.
For a Rockin’ Roller Coaster retheme, I’d still want it to keep the theme of music (as opposed to abandoning it all together), but instead of just replacing Aerosmith with a newer band that the younger generation is familiar with, make it about Goofy and Max trying to get to a Powerline concert. Though I’d also be okay if they just made a generic “dad rock” band for it so they could keep a lot of the same aesthetics.
Inside Out taking over Play (Life) Pavilion is a concepts I love. Would the simulator ride be reborn or can we get more boat rides! The pavilion has an odd placement with Epcot’s 3 thrill rides next door.
Great episode! At least there is some juicy stuff to gossip about with the batty ideas floating around for Disney parks - Alica, you're so accurate with the Uni rumors, you've kind of taken all the intrigue out of Universal speculation!
18:04 Building AVATAR beyond Critter Country/ Tiana’s does make a lot of sense given Critter Country will close May 1st and Disney specifically said they will improve crowd flow in the area. I think you’re onto something there!
My Blue Sky dream for a good Villains Land would have a Maleficent's Fury Dark Ride, a Cave of Wonders Magic Carpet roller coaster, an Underworld Cafe, a Cruella fashion clothing store, and a Dr. Facilier Voodoo Parlor Stage Show. Plus a general Meet and Greet area for other villains.
Have a differing opinion about location of pandora. I see it as being south of pixar place hotel, so the seaside pier manifestation theme gives way to a beautiful coastal manifestation theme. Extraterrestrial or not, kind of see this being the big IP version of big sur. Carsland is the desert, grizzly peak for the national parks/mountains. Would be a really incredible payoff to work your way back there, and would flow nicely from the more real world buena vista street, toward the oier, to full blown fantasy. Or minds would naturally fill in the blanks as far as set extension is concerned, if we imagine that the pier is on the ocean nearby this wild pandora waterfront. Tearing out the built environment of hollywoodland to have a hard cut toward a wild natural environment makes no sense and disney so far has been really frugal when renovating dca, keeping existing assets and infrastructure and building locations in place. So in review, tearing down hollywoodland to build a natural env from scratch, and then building a city scape for zootopia for example in the parking lot beyond pixar pier someday, would just be abysmal financial planning and reay redundant. I think its likely we see hollywood blvd remain, but then the backlot area gets replaced with a version of zootopia. This too would be amazing because hollywood blvd is pretty right now but it is the highlight of the land since the backlot is so weak; having hollywood blvd as an appetizer for a more rewarding themed experience would be an awesome arrival sequence.
Regarding the Dinosaur/Indy thing. Look up the dinosaur Ica Stones. South America artifact that depicts dinosaurs. Think of how much money Disney could save shoehorning Indy into a Dinosaur ride and recycling all those animatronics...
