Thank you for your detailed information. I've been looking for how to make my own cloth diapers... even if I have to sew them.... but all the videos I came across were vague, they were throwing words out that I'm not familiar with yet. So with you explaining what they all are it helps a lot.

Hi! Thanks for asking :) I have a hard time getting a good fit with my birdseye cotton flats. I'd love to find an organic unbleached cotton or hemp flat with lycra to make it stretchy. All the ones I've seen are really expensive! Do you have any recommendations? Thanks! - Gaia

How do you clean your wool liner after getting yeast? I think my liner is keeping the yeast problem going! I'm also curious to hear your thoughts on the effort to fold the flat diapers vs EC where you are wanting to change each time they are wet.

Yikes! Yeast is a tricky one. Cotton cloth diapers are normally treated with a bleach soak, but chlorine bleach can dissolve wool. From a quick search online, it looks like you can try washing with lemon juice and salt and then sunning. Personally, I might just replace the liners. As far as the effort involved in folding flats, my feelings on that have changed over time. With my second baby we used mostly fitted diapers during the newborn phase. I also had Flaparap pads, which were basically half flats. I never seemed to have time to fold them and my husband and son would end up helping me fold. Maybe it was partly because I did laundry in a shared laundry room down the hall, so the whole process took a long time. With my third baby we have been using flats as part of our stash since birth. I normally pile the clean flats on the corner of my bed and then fold them before bedtime. I keep them nicely folded in a basket. When it's time for a diaper change I just reach over and grab one, no big deal. So it doesn't get in the way of frequent diaper changes. I actually enjoy folding diapers. I will add, though, now that my baby is 6 months old, we are using fewer flats and more cloth training pants. He likes to roll away from diaper changes, sit up, and crawl away. So putting on flats isn't working as well. I might try them sometime with a diaper belt. For now it's easier to let him sit on my lap and pull on a pair of training pants. 💜Heidi

What are the best absorbency folds for say a flour sack towel (flat) to use for a baby girl? I want to fold up a bunch, then sew in place to basically make fitted diapers from newborn size to 1 year old, so there's less stress to cloth diapering while our household adjusts to having a newborn.

How do you wash the flats and boosters that have wool in them?

When the wool content is small like 9% I just wash with my other diapers, warm then hot. For 100% wool like the contour I hand wash. I did machine wash on warm and warped/shrunk it a little. 💜 Heidi

Not if it's super soft Merino wool.
