Another ripper of a test in the 1GD 79series we head into the high country set up base camp beyond the Dargo pub at Italian Flat and visit Billy goat bluff 2.8 towing our Jayco Expanda Outback
In mine with 3 weeks ownership, the head unit needs to go. Android auto keeps on disconnecting. 2" lift with 500kg constant load happening on monday, already tyre scrubbing on 33's. Reversing without a camera to hitch up is painful at times. Got bullbar on order, off-road animal, but now is delayed till aug/sep 😮 brakes works heaps better than my 2010 with a few close encounters. Might have to re-evaluate other options.
Would you consider the transfer case reduction gears for the 2.8? I understand Marks 4wd sells them for the 70 series transfer case. As you know the V8 and 2.8 use the same transfer case. The reduction would assist down hill.
@@TeamBulletOffroad I have a 2020 GXL 70 V8 and impressed after driving the 2.8. In terms of autos, generally they run away compared to manuals on the decline. If I recall the 4.5 has a 44:04:1 crawl ratio and 2.8 is 38:05:01. The 300 is 42:62:1, based on my research, reduction gears in the transfer case will bring the 2.8 to 300 or V8 70 crawl ratios . I’m very close to updating my 70 to the new 2.8. If I do will have the transfer case mod. Love the idea of maintaining highway gears by not changing diff ratios, and nice low low gearing for VHC where I go frequently.
