Hey mate, I’ve got myself a RN105 with an ecotec V6, looking at doing 80 series axles front and rear, should I change the diff ratios or leave them 80 series standard? Cheers for all the cool vids over the years so much info and knowledge.
You end up moving back to 285s on the last V8 mate ? Just managed to snag a new 23 vdj so just debating weather the gearing will be too high for anything bigger than 33s .. noticed in this vid looks like you went back to the 285s
I chopped and changed between the 285 and the 35, went better with the 285s being a stock motor, but in saying that I did that 7000km trip up north on the 35s towing the Jayco...
Another great video! Thought I'd just add that a cop might pull you up for those number plate lights as they shine backwards, they should be pointed to the ground while illuminating the number plate. Of course it'd be a narky officer to point it out. 👍✌️
Miss seeing these old comps, we just found a stack of old comp videos including woodpecker tuff truck and Nissan trials all the way back to 2000 If only these old comps were still around
Love the content! I was looking to take my 4wd out first time with the kids and family and was wondering if you know of any tracks around sydney (happy to drive out) that are relatively beginner friendly? My boy loves mud and wouldnt mid just driving on some muddy roads, cheers
Thanks for reaching out, the watagans is a great place to visit with camp only 2 hours from Sydney touch base with me here at facebook.com/p/Team-Bullet-100064434649885/
Great video! Loved seeing how the different vehicles delay with that section of the track. Do you mind letting us know which OBD app you use that works on CarPlay?
I've got some 34s on a toyota tundra and I love how they pull offroad. 35000 on them so far and still a good bit of tread left. A bad alignment from the goodyear place where I live will cut down on how much I get out of them
No we didn't get that far this time, didn't want to dirty my new winch rope, hahaha, if you like I can search up old footage of last time we were there and it ended in a disaster...
Best regards from Italy, Florence and I, for my Suzuki Jimny 4x4 truck with a 1.3 lt gasoline m13a engine from 2001, I have 4 all-terrain Hankook dynapro atf RF 10 m+s tires in size 205-70-15 and I have a train of retreaded mud tires from the Italian brand ziarelli modello mud Power ziarelli MT 205-70-15 m+s !! (I am undecided between the two models of Kumho tires, the Kumho at 51 models and the other model the Kumho at 52, always in size 205-70-15!)
Much appreciated mate. Portals are out of my price range unfortunately but thanks anyway. I’m on the west coast. Most companies seem to give me vague and limited info but the few I’ve asked say parabolic as part of a gvm upgrade is straight up ‘no’ or too hard basket. Again I appreciate your help mate!
Now driving bare feet. Thats worse than with thongs. Mate you can't apply force with bare feet. This is why it's illegal. Have an accident you're in big trouble.
Mate thanks for all your time n effort the vids are great. I’m looking at getting a gvm upgrade to about 4/4.2t 6:06 on a new dual cab v8 79 cruiser Ute. What in your opinion is the best company/product/setup to go with bearing in mind I’ll be getting a track corrected diff and increased axel load rating and it needs to be leaf sprung atleast 500 kg constant. Thanks in advance legend
Of all 3 of my 79s ive had, the parabolics have been my favourite for sure.. But I would be trying to incorporate whoever is doing track correction to be involved, if it were my build in the situation you speak of Marks portals on leaves would have to be on top of my list..
Appreciate your effort and enthusiasm with sharing your experience and knowledge. Please keep it up. The loss of braking with the heavy (46kg) 35" tyres is interesting, and is something to consider for anyone wanting tall fat tyres. My limit is the stock 33" skinnys - the tyres are still only 29kgs even though on steel rims, so brakes have been OK. I guess your next step might be to consider an upgraded brake booster. In the old days it was common to replace single diaphragm booster on the 6cyl 79series with the twin diaphragm booster from an 80series. But these days there are plenty of aftermarket boosters.
Toyota did away with the old school proportional valve for the rear brakes when they got abs. That was years ago. There mustve been a mistake on the parts page because theres no way thats correct. They somehow have it so the proportioning is worked out in some other way.
Ok thanks for that, yes there must have been a mistake, and mobs like ARB TJM Terrain tamer all list a proportioning valve and sway bar extension part no. Must just be old news..
@TeamBulletOffroad those proportioning valves never really worked properly anyway. I use the little extension to raise the arm as much as I can so the rear brakes actually get some fluid. You see so many of the older 70s where it's only the front brakes doing any braking. Another trick was to just disconnect that arm and tie it up under the tray so the valve was fully open all the time.
Now I noticed your handbrake cables touching the Rancho shockers. I am running the same as you, parabolic springs and Rancho shockers only on my 2003 Workmate single Cab. I have been concerned as you should be and haven't thought of a solution. Is it a worry as the cable will rub the exterior of the shocker ? Kym cheers.
Ive had the same example on 2 79s prior and on the grey one even at over 100k on the clock it barely took paint off the shock,. so its never really made my "to-do" list.. I guess the ideal situation would be an upside down damper... Thanks heaps for the good point though..
Yes I remember you saying, and you are comparing to your mighty 200 which doesn't help, its like when I jump in Chelles 300 now 1st time I stop kids nearly go out the front window.. Haha
Love the 50 / 50 installation 😅 and all the bush mechanic modifications to suit. It's nice to watch someone completely not afraid to bash this vehicle like it's intended to be and not the usual RU-vid videos with not a spec of dust on their tourers.
Another good one. Interesting to see the brakes going forward. I just added bar and winch to mine last weekend. The factory 2024 bumper and support weigh about 28kg so I actually added 60 kg to mine but stock suspension. I also had same run of cables from winch control box but used a bit of pinch weld to protect them which is a bit sturdier than split tube. Good work, cheers
Dude your videos are jam packed and I love the editing your commentary is so engaging that one can't help but take in what your explaining . So much taken away from your real world testing and no holds barred approach. Keep up the great content . Thank You
