My Grandmother who died in Herne Bay at yhe age of 98 ,used to travel with her parents and 6 siblings from Gillingham on the train for l day a year thier holiday back in the early 1900s so good to see what it looked like then

Born here in 1951 and our beach hut was about 4 down from the red spider cafe. Brought back amazing memories as a child thank you

I used to live in Marine Terrace near the Neptune. When the north wind came off that sea during the 70's it was a real killer especially if you were a student living on toast. I used to collect drift wood to burn in the fireplace. We had no boiler because it was damaged in the flood before. Whitstable at that time was the cheapest to live, far cheaper than Canterbury. Look at it now, you need to be a millionaire to live in the Terrace or buy a beach hut.

@@JeremyVaughanPostcards my uncle John Keam lived in a house called Shingleside in the 50s and my Great grandfather was the landlord of the Neptune at the turn of the century . I have passed on your videos to all my friends now who went to school in Whitstable. My father had his coach and body building works on now what is Keams yard car park .

Yes, I used to use Steve's shop to buy my cans of Toasty Toppers. Ham and mushroom was my favourite. I lived on them when I was a student. You don't see those anymore. He was always playing Deep Purple on his background music.
