Hey Tito, how is possible that you dont have at least 500k views in all of your videos? Easy to understand, good explanations, no high volume intro, good editing, clear voice and videos that looks better than most of "top" youtubers in this subject. Good luck and cheers for all the good times that are coming without a doubt!
The RU-vid algorithm works in mysterious ways, haha All kidding aside, I really appreciate the kind words! It really means a lot to me. I glad you found the channel and are enjoying it, that means the most to me. Cheers buddy!!
That’s fantastic! It’s a great skill to have for modding and and for doing other repairs. So happy you are enjoying the channel buddy, I hope the videos are informative! Cheers dude!!
Its nice seeing the progress on the build you got going, would also adding a small bit of thermal padding help out with the heat? I would really like to see if you would redo this once you get your 3D printer and make the battery plate larger.
Thank you omniemon! Yeah, I was looking at adding a thermal barrier of some kind to protect the battery from the heat. Once I get my 3D printer I think I'll be able to make some really cool improvements. I can't wait! Thank you for watching the channel! Cheers buddy!
That makes a lot of sense! Thank you Ben! The amazon listing called it a “magnetic spacer” and strangely enough it didn’t really seem magnetic. I tried attaching it to my steel cabinet drawer but it didn’t grab. Appreciate the explanation. Thanks again! Cheers!
Wireless charging works via magnetic resonant coupling which is basically electricity passed through two magnetic fields in circuit boards. The reason it was stopping and starting without that magnetic buffer is because you essentially have a magnet right next to the batteries circuit which interferes with it
@@MachoNachoProductions Bit late to the party but the wireless charger you're using looks really similar to one I've used a couple times that I've always had problems with. The chargers just seem to die randomly after a short amount of time. Maybe a different charger would work? But also I'm sure phoenixconcentrated's point still holds
Hey man, I have been binging your videos since I saw your Game Boys on My Life in Gaming. Your production quality is excellent. If you're curious about temperature, you can pick up a temp gun at Home Depot for around $20. Thanks for the video, keep 'em coming.
Awesome! Welcome to the channel Cody! So glad you’re here! I was thinking about doing that. I was hoping to be able to take the temperature while it was charging. I think something I could do is remove the battery cover with the wireless charger and place that in the wireless charger pad and then use the temp gun to measure the exposed charger module. I’ll have to look into that! Thanks for the suggestions! Cheers buddy!
Hey brother, been keeping an eye on your channel for a while now. Top notch modding and camera work! The fact that you are able to put out videos this quality just a week apart boggles my mind! Keep up the great work, man! 🙂👍
Whoa! Kyle, thank you man! I really appreciate it! I've watched your Benn Venn videos so many times! Thank you so much, it really means a lot buddy! It's a lot of hard work and late nights, but I have a lot of fun doing it! Take care buddy and thank you for reaching out! Cheers!
hey Tito, if you need some help with modeling a new battery door Id be glad to volunteer my time, I'm pretty good with fusion 360 and I have a cnc machine that I can mill it out on or I can 3d print one to test fit too
Oh man! Thank you thank you! I will definitely reach out to you, or you can send me an email. I’ve been looking at videos about fusion 360 from Lars Christensen to learn about modeling before my 3D printer gets delivered. I ordered a Prusa mini and it’s on back order until mid September. Thank you for reaching out Kyle! Talk to you soon. Cheers buddy!
@@MachoNachoProductions Why not try and sand down the battery area slot and trim it down enough for it to fit? It would probably be less expensive, nail files are really good for removing plastic. Its probably a lot cheaper too. And you can always repaint it with spray paint.
Thermocouple wire and a meter with a temperature function could get a decent reading under the battery door. Great content. I look forward to it every Thursday.
Thanks for the tips Matt, I really appreciate it! I'll have to look into that method as well! So glad you are enjoying the videos and thank you for watching the channel buddy! It really means a lot to me! Cheers buddy!
I bought the qi wireless pad in anticipation of this mod. I even spent a couple of hours desperately trying to find an STL file for the shell of a gba sp. No luck. A compromise would be to make a battery cover that screws in with the battery cover screw, but with expanded dimensions to cover all or most of the bottom of the SP to keep It from being a bumpy eye-sore. I would probably have to make a brute force copy of the battery cover STL on thingiverse in fusion 360 and go from there.
I agree making a newly designed bottom shell would be ideal to avoid a bump. I would be interested to see your progress in modifying the battery door! Best of luck! Cheers!
@@MachoNachoProductions it would make a great vid. There's only two pins on the charging port for a ds. Power and ground. Easy ;) You just have to desolder the DS slot to make room LOL
Oh snap! That could be a fun challenge. May be a good excuse to get a hot air station. Do you know which pins on the pcb are ground and power for the charge port? Thanks bro! I really appreciate it!! Cheers!
Great video! Thanks Tito. I'm already ordering the parts the the wireless charging to my game gear, would fit easily into the battery compartments! I would love to do it on a pocket to, but after some measuring seems impossible to fit.
I forget what its called but the battery was probably interfering with the magnetic field the wireless charger makes and the magnet strip acts like a lead vest when getting an xray. In which it creates separation and isolation to the other coil (the one in the gba)
@@MachoNachoProductions if you haven't done one already I'd love to see a linup comparison to all the gba 'everdrive' style carts there are to know which is best
Thanks for the info Eddie! Oh man, Fluke makes some really nice stuff! But they're so expensive:-( I'll probably make a trip to the ol' hardware store or maybe check out what Amazon has to offer. Thanks again buddy! Cheers!
Great video, your channel is more interesting everytime!, I wonder if you are going to do the GBA SP headphone mod, it seems easy, but there are several ways to accomplish that
Thank you Dave! Absolutely! it’s on the list. Nothing is off the table, haha! It will be fun to see how many upgrades I can cram in the GBA SP! Cheers Dave!
@@MachoNachoProductions No worries, you have a good show. It was tricky to get it to fit but if you fenugle the wires and be super careful where they go it fits. The Mahko board is a brilliant little thing 👍
Lol, I was researching this mod around the same time yoh probably were to make these two videos. The receiver is out of stock now, good thing I ordered mine as soon as I figured out how simple the mod was.
I have a 900mAh 603048 lipo with one of makho's boards in my modded ags 001 and my original phat ds. Both are working great and last alot longer than any 3rd party batteries I could find. For the ds I had to put some plastic spacers in the battery compartment to keep it from knocking around , so it could probably fit a battery that's a little bigger.
I really like the idea, but that bulge would absolutely drive me crazy. Lol. Thanks for doing all this testing, I'm sure there's something out there that will work in the end without any issues.
Haha I totally agree, still plenty of work ahead. The bulge drives me a bit nuts as well lol. No prob Dark Samus, we get there eventually! Cheer buddy!
Interesting, another person said the same thing. I'm going to have to look into this. Not sure what it could be. Have you seen other RU-vid videos with this issue that I could watch? Thanks for letting me know. Cheers!
@@MachoNachoProductions no only yours. It could be your mic itself, mixer, or even your video export (unfortunately I'm not an audiophile when it comes to studio recording)
@@MachoNachoProductions it might be one of those pitches you can't hear as you get older. I dont hear it on my pc (though I use an audiophile dac, amp, and headphones) but I consistently hear it on my phone.
Thanks for letting me know. Interesting it doesn’t show up on your computer with high end equipment but does show up on your phone. Could it be an issue with your phone? I usually listen and sound check through my monitor speakers and don’t hear the noise. It could be my old ears can’t pick it up too. Have you listened on other devices? I would like to resolve the issue. Thanks again for letting me know. Cheers!
I'm watching this while at work, so I apologize if I missed it... have you had any issues relating to the heat given off while charging wirelessly? - If this is done to an aftermarket plastic shell could it result in melting the plastic?
I think this mod would make more sense in the first gba, because it doesn't have a DC port, so you could make a rechargeable battery mod without making any hole in the shell..
Awesome! Thanks for the info! That’s good that it acts as a heat sync too! It does get fairly warm after a full charge. I’m going to find out the exact heat reading to see if it’ll cause any degradation of the battery! Thanks for the info Dave! Cheers!
I am a measurement scientist. Are you looking to monitor real time temperature or see the maximum temp while charging? A thermocouple would be a moderately accurate and inexpensive way to do a test.
Love your videos. What about a 3d printed battery door that dissipates heat better? It coud accomidate larger batteries as well I was surprised it lasted as long as it did.
Thank you! So happy you are enjoying the videos! Absolutely! A larger battery door with vents to dissipate heat would be a fantastic idea! Yeah the battery totally last much longer than I was expecting, I guess I got so used to IPS modded GBA SPs haha! Thank you for your input! Cheers!
I bet a wireless charging DMG would seem so simple compared to this, there must be so much spare room inside one of those shells...I know this doesn't help you any with what you're doing right now though!
@@MachoNachoProductions you are welcome!!!!! we use them at work and you may get some more use out of them after for other projects. keep up the great work Tito
Hey Saul! I pre-ordered on the Prusa website. Well I can’t recommend on experience but I asked around and generally have been told that the Prusa mini is a great value for the money and good quality as well. Also, Prusa has great support. I’m excited to get started as well! Stinks that they’re on back order. Oh well! Cheers buddy!
Macho Nacho Productions thank you!!! By the way; last night I watched your collaboration with the guys at “my life in gaming” I am glad for you man; here’s for more likes and subscriptions!
What if you removed the plastic that is directly behind the battery? That would give it a little more depth right? Or, would it be possible to install the black control board part behind the screen and route wires down to the coil and the charge port?
That could very well work! Both fantastic ideas! My goal was to modify the shell as little as possible. The only issue I can see if that is having the battery contacts align properly. Great idea though! Cheers Jake!
Have you try to isolate the pcb direkt? The wireless coil Loks like a normal for Smartphone adapter. There are some really thin. I let wireless charging in the sp out. Because the heat that the coil produce. And my battery ist hard in the case because my usb c port ( for charging and Headset) and the sound board
Yep! I used kapton tape to isolate the coil and pcb. The magnet spacer helped with the charging reliability and I think it helps to isolate the heat as well. Cheers!
@@MachoNachoProductions mmh at my mods this magnetic thing doesnt change it. I have the gba, dmg and the New 3ds xl with a charge coil. The greatest Probleme is the space between coil and charge coil. And the second is that these 1A coils not really 1A are. They are around 0.5A. The wireless coil in the display part could be a other place for it. When xou want to knew how usb with charging and Headset in the gba sp work then say something
@@MachoNachoProductions imgur.com/a/ruIvKuk the pinout for the usb c. It only work with usb c to headphone adapter that use analog audio. That are the cheap. Adapter with own Digital Decoder doesnt work
Edit: I found the spacer put it in and it still cuts out after charging for around 10-20 seconds. it's installed behind the screen with the spacer to the back so you can see te coil through the clear case So I did this mod and had the exact same issue. My only worry now is I think I've lost the magnetic spacer and I'm gonna have to buy a whole new kit. Has anyone got a place where I can buy just the magnetic spacer?
Interesting. I would make sure that the coil is pressed as flat as possible against the top shells surface. You want to minimize the gap between the coils and the charger. It sometimes helps to put something on top that puts some pressure to press the coils flat to the surface, like some foam. I hope that helps resolve your issue. Best of luck! Cheers!
Very nice vid as usual sadly for me I haven't been watching many Gameboy vids lately I haven't even played mine in a couple of weeks now that I have been drawing again
@@MachoNachoProductions yeah I still have a ways to go yet I just picked up drawing a couple years now still got to get some body types and clothes done yet once I can draw a full character out of my brain to paper I'll be happy
Totally understand! Still working to make it better. I definitely want to do a USB-C mod as well as have a larger battery. Thanks for letting me know what interests you. Cheers Gregory!
Hey Brennan! Apologies, I don't provide modding services at the moment. I think there are some qualified folk that could definielty do this for you on the forums and on Instagram. I don't have any personal experience with any but I'm sure you can ask around in the community and someone will point you in the right direction. Again, apologies. I wish you the best of luck! Cheers buddy!
Pshh... Wireless charging is a cheap toy. What I'd love to see is stereo speakers in a GBA! It'd give me a reason to stop using my DS or my headphones when I use a GBA. Seems hard though, the start and select get in the way annoyingly so.
That’s a great suggestion! It would be interesting to see if stereo sound could be achieve (it would be mono through 2 speakers). Could be a neat experiment! Cheers Lasky and thank you for watching my videos!
@@MachoNachoProductions amp.reddit.com/r/Gameboy/comments/h9tqu8/stereo_sound_gba_mod_using_dual_nintendo_switch/ Turns out someone did do it already. Hopefully you or someone else can do it again, and provide a guide.
Could it be coming from the music? There was another person who was hearing the same high pitched noise, but I couldn’t hear it. I’m hoping someone else could let me know where it might be competing from. Very strange.
