Can you just intercept your speaker wire in the rear for your line level converter. That would avoid you taking the the radio out and running a lot of RCA cable?
For those wanting to know how to connect the line out converter in.. Step one- take out radio Step two-locate the green plug behind the radio Step 3- depending on if you have a single cab or a 4 door if you have a single cab you just need to connect the blue wire, and the wire below it ... you need to locate the blue wire and split and sauter or split and use a wire connecter, with the wire labeled “left positive” on the converter Step 4- connect the wire below the blue one to “left negative” Step 5- repeat those steps with the wires to the right of the blue wire and the wire below it. The top one is right positive “right next the the blue wire” and the wire below that one is right negative. Hopefully this helped!
When I plugged in my remote to the prong my female end was also touching the prong above it. Once I removed it and fixed it everything went back to normal. I then moved my remote cable to the 2nd fuse in the fuse box in the drivers side dash and it works just the same as the prong underneath. Great video thanks for the instructions.

I have a full bose system 2016. Silverado z71 ltz 2500 duramax. I'm leaving factory head unit. Adding Lc6i, 1 1200w 2ch, 1 1000w 4ch and small high amp. I'm replacling all speakers. 8" 2ways in all doors, 4 new highs , 4 8" subs. Not using a harness. So questions are.... 1) should i leave dash speakers alone for calls and chimes? 2) if yes. How do i power the high input? 3) do i have to tie in all 4 door speakers wires(2-,2+) to each line in. There is a left and a rt ch on Lc6i 4) how do i wire in for the Bose factory sub?there is a left and a rt or does it matter? Thanks alot!! Also im tying in at bose amp. A nice detailed video, good Job the only thing I would change is to get the power from the battery instead of the Junction box you are adding more load to a just for factory stuff wire from the battery. Straight to the battery will give you more power to your amp under full load conditions of the factory equipment like the lights, AC, Wipers, Fans that cool your engine and your AC system.
Excellent Video I just bought a 2015 and I am starting to plan a total over haul. I have 4 6x9 speakers from another build I did and I would like to put those in the door as well as replace the dash speakers. Do you have any info on this? I have the female connectors that fit the Bose stock amplifiers male connectors.I can build a harness that connects to the factory low level outputs so there would be no cutting or splicing.Would this be easier than cutting and splicing,using a line out converter?
What did you tie your speaker wires in to. I have a 2016 silverado which is the exact same as this truck and had great success running my power cable just as you did.

I have the same truck and I'm installing 2 Type S 10's with 1000 watt amp. What made you choose the front speakers for the low level input on the LOC? I used the rear inputs for my 2011 Chevy. Did you ever find another 12vDC switched source?
OMG! Thanks so much for this video! I do have a couple questions for you. I have a PAC SNI-15 adapter that I had in my '08 chevy but I dont recall how I had it wired behind the head unit. From what I've read else where online, the consensus seems to be if you're only running a sub, you can splice both positive and negative wires of the adapter to a single pos/neg. If so, from your video, I would spice it to one of my front speakers. Thoughts? Also, as stated above in this thread, this install will work for 2014 silverados. I'm guessing its safe to say that it should apply to my 2014 GMC, crew cab, non-bose? Thanks again, keep up the good work!

Doesn't tapping into front speakers amplify door chime and turn signal too? I'm waiting to upgrade door speakers with an amp but I'm not sure what the best way to get around that.
great video. I currently have my output converter wired in behind my head unit. Where can I wire in a volume control nob into my system? Converter has a remote turn on wire but I am not using it because I have the remote turn wire going in under the dash. Any suggestions?
When you tapped into the front speakers with the line converter did your chimes get amplified. I have seen a lot of posts where people are saying the seat belt, turn signal and door ajar chimes are very loud after tapping into the front speakers

Great video!!! I am following your steps and so far its been easier than I thought it would be. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado All-star Edition crew cab. Running the power wire was very helpful!! However my big hands made it difficult to reach..lol. im at the point of installing the amp to the back fire wall. Now I did that in my 2010 so I understand the screw size. Question is how much room do I have between the back wall and the seat for the physical size of the amp? Haven't removed the back seats yet but it looks like a tight fit back there?

Great video I have a 15 silverado crew cab and want to install 2 10's and 2 rockford 500 w amps for each sub i also want a 1000 watt hi fonics for my 4 6.5's and tweeters waiting for box to get here from fox not sure if that rear wall will have the room for all 3 amps or not may just put the RF's under the seats and the hifonics on the rear deck.
Question, had a buddy of mine do an amp and 2 10 subs, on my 2016 Silverado 1500 LT non Bose using factory deck. After install the door chimes, turn signals and idiot chimes now seem to be amplified and ear splitting. What can be done to return to a normal non ear bleeding level? Thanks in advance

Have a question my friend is putting his system in the same truck and he is having a problem with the radio cut out at high volume. I installed a lc7 as the converter and it seems the output voltage is very high I had to turn it almost all the way down for it to stop happening but the sub is def not hitting as hard as it should.
I have an all terrian model, there are no wires in that connection, any thoughts on where they would be or the colors of the wires are the same but just in a different location? Thanks

I'm going to install an lc7i audio control converter on my 2016 Sierra reg cab would I be able to mount it under the center console and just run wires to the radio harness instead of it being behind the radio I know my converter is quite a decent size or am I sapouse to Have it behind the stock radio?

Am I missing something? Why did you not fuse your power and remote wire? That amp malfunctions and toast your power cable all through the interior and kick panel and now we have a GMC Sierra burned down edition?
Everything worked out great but I still have no bass. I have power and the remote power works. Amp is Grounded well. Maybe this kicker line out converter just sucks?
Did exactly as you did here, turned my truck on and my gauges freaked out on me, all my sensors went off and basically fried my computer. If you could help explain why this happened or have any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks.
+Coly Whipple Sounds like you landed a wire where it shouldn't be. You may have shorted something out when you tried to land the remote wire where he did. Really easy to miscount a pin and short some things out.
i have a question, does the door chime come in thru the sub woofer? or does the door chime not use the door speakers. i ask because i want to do the same to my truck, which is the same as this one.
i just did this and no chime in my subs, most amplifiers have a crossover and if you are just installung subs your crossover will be much much lower than the chimes hence no sound being amplified just gets ignored. hope this helps.
What do you suggest??? Buying a New Silverado this week. I currently have a 2005 w/aftermarket components. Alpine Radio-4 - 6.5 inch Focals and 2 - 10 inch j&l subs. Ihave a Arc Audio amp pushing the Focals and a j&l 500 watt pushn the subs. Whats the best option for me and my New Silverado w/the 8 inch My Link radio, to reproduce the sound in my 05 Silverado. It sounds purty good btw, my 05 , that is, but Im wanting the, 'Punch' I get from the subs and the 'Crispness' I get from my Focals. Id like a lil bit more power to Crispness too! If you want to amp your highs get a JL cleansweep, Rockford 3Sixty.3 or other processor and you can put everything in the 14 that was in the 05 minus the headunit.
why did you put your line output converter behind your head unit? you can tap in to the front speaker wires at the panels by the front doors and run the wires back to your amp location allowing your line output converter to sit beside the amp.
ACR3D1 In case the customer does change out the factory head-unit RCAs will be right there and can be connected to the new unit. Also you can get both sides in one location and not run wires to each side of the vehicle.

much cheaper to pull the rear door sills or B pillar and find the wires running into the rear doors , less wire less time , and sub can fade in/out with fade control
I always go behind the head unit because in the even you ever change out the head unit, you've already got your RCAs right there. Also there is more low frequency signal going to the front doors in these vehicles than in the rear.
the only time i would do that is if it was for a customer that was unsure ! to charge someone for product they are not using and labour they didnt need is not very good business practice! if they do switch later youve made money on the install double by doing the wiring later.
Mcnutts3 We have a set price for amp installs even if it takes 5 hours. so really were saving them money on the head unit install because we don't need to charge them to redo the RCA. So please don't comment on our business practices when you don't know them.
The Amp Lab so I assume you have a set price for head unit installs aswell then? how many factory units get switched to aftermarket after everything's setup? in the 4 years I did installs I don't believe 1 came back for upgrade, most would return with a new vehicle for aftermarket upgrade..
Mcnutts3 Yes we have a set price for head unit as well, unless we did what you said and would need to run a new RCA cable to the front. We would charge extra for that. So what I'm getting at is it costs them nothing extra during the amp installs, and Dave's them money if we ever did the head unit. It's a win/win for them and us. We don't get a lot back, but it does happen. You can do the install any way you'd like. I personally find it easier to do it the way I did it here and as mentioned makes it easy to upgrade later on with 0 extra work.
So I accidentally didn't tap into the lines with the line out converter and I just cut the lines from the speaker and spliced into the line out converter. Recommendations on how to fix my mistake so I actually have sound in the front and get my subs working
In the first part of this video he showed an accessory +12 volt pin under the drivers side dash, when I do my install I'll be sending that to a small 12 volt relay and use that output for amp turn on remote wire.
Is there a reason you couldn't tap your line converter from the rear speakers from the port in the cross bar? also I didn't see your power line fuse, how/where di you place it? I'm used to seeing it right where you connect the wire to the battery.
I could have grabbed it there but I always go behind the head unit in case they ever change to an aftermarket the cables will Already be right there. The fuse holder was on the firewall about a foot from the battery.

Jan did you find out which cables are positive and negative. In one site I found different wiring same cables but the negatives are positives so I'm confused.
virtually no impact on the other speakers. there is a small amount of signal voltage being taken from the front two speakers that he hooked up the line out converter to but the difference is negligible.
The Amp Lab Will this method cause rust or water to seep into the cabin? I have a 5 channnel JL amp that I want to install in a 2013 crew cab Sierra. That looks like a great spot, but i’m concerned for those two reasons. It’s either that or glue an mdf board under the rear seat (below the carpet), but that’ll be in the way in case I need to slide something in there.
