Which part of my statement is wrong? Linden has scored more points in the playoffs for the Canucks than anyone; Messier has not led the Canucks into a single playoff game. To suggest that Messier has done more for the Canucks than Linden is completely wrong factually. To resort to the bashing that you engage is just low-class. If you can't engage in an intelligent discussion and has to resort to this type of bashing, then you are a sad figure.
It makes me kind of sad to see him having to answer the questions about being a healthy scratch. It's kind of hard to answer, because obviously he didn't feel good about it. But he answers all the questions with such honesty and class. I admire him so much, and would really love to see him back. But, whatever his decision - I will respect it and support it no matter what. He has shown what it is to be a great sportsman. To not only be skilled, but conduct himself well on and off ice.
For your information, my friend: Messier has scored 52 goals and had 110 assists with the Canucks for 162 points. Linden, on the other hand, scored 733 points as a Canucks. I said from the get-go that Messier did more than Linden in his CAREER, but Linden did more than Messier as a Canucks. Which part of my argument did you not understand?
I will say Messier did more in his NHL career than Trevor Linden did in his NHL career. But to suggest that Messier has done more for the Canucks than Linden has done is just outright wrong factually. Messier did not even lead the Canucks into the playoffs in the years he played here! Get your facts straight.
One more year, Trevor. But I will be cheering for Calgary, something I've never done, as a result of that game. Jarome Iginla has earned the right through respect and honour to have me cheer for him in the playoffs. Go Flames go in '08 playoffs. And Go Canucks Go in in '08-09. Hopefully with Trevor in the lineup.
I think the biggest problems for the Canucks is the scouting staff - we aren't drafting well enough... But back to Linden... I'd like to see him play one more year to have a chance to win the cup. But knowing Vigneault, he would not let Linden play much; in fact, he does not respect #16 at all...
Trevor Linden has been a class act on and off the ice. It stings my heart that Vancouver could not bring him a Stanley Cup, but he is forever a champion in our hearts! And shame on you, Mark Messier! You will be forever despised in Vancouver.
For your info too: Linden has scored 95 points for the Canucks in the playoffs and Messier had ZERO points. Messier is arguably the best captain the NHL has ever had, but as a Canuck? You just have to face the facts.
The career he's had, a lot of us watched him when we were younger, and the runs he's had when he first broke in. He's played for so long, and also playing against him, he's a guy that plays hard all the time. He's a leader. He's a guy that's a good, honest, hard player to play against. He's not cheap. We have a lot of respect also for what he's done for us off the ice as a group of players. I'm not sure if it's his last for sure, but if it is, it definitely was an honor to play with him. -Iginla
