I remember my grade 7 teacher showing the class this in 2011. He is / was a trekkie himself, so not suprised he found you and shared this video with us
Simply an amazing 2 weeks for Canada. Regardless of race, religion, sexuality etc, we all came together to cheer on our athletes. Exactly what Canada is all about.
@@gregd6706 race, religion and sexuality have become controversial topics in Canada when they shouldn’t be. Was the point I was trying to make. All I remember is togetherness in Canada in 2010, it’s not like that anymore.
I still remember those olympics. We were doing amazingly , everyone seemed happy and the country had a big smile when you were going outside , but the magic touch as the last sport was the golden medal in hockey , when that overtime goal happened , we for a moment the whole country in a state of shock of happiness to a fever dream that lasted weeks.
This makes me cry. 14 years later a beautiful symbol of unity. I’m sure many of our hearts are pure we have good intentions. We as Canadians need to stand together united. These Olympics brought us together and right now our nation needs us to continue the push. Sometimes I feel our people are becoming more divided. Please bring back the time when all of Canada stood together and watched our competitors win and loss and stand side by side and protect this nation.
It drives me crazy people voted not to bring them back in 2030. The Olympics in Vancouver was truly one of the coolest things to happen in my life. Crazy how special it is for the whole province too.
The history leading to this Olympic is also critical to understanding its relevance. In the history of the Olympics only one country that hosted an had failed to win a gold. That was Canada and we did it twice; 1976 Montreal and 1988 Calgary. We never had much to cheer about in any Olympic save perhaps the heavily boycotted 1984 Los Angeles Games. It was quite embarrassing. The “Own the Podium” program changed all that with improved and better directed funding. The addition of sports where we could excel and the addition of NHL players made the lead up to Vancouver 2010 very promising. The result exceeded expectations in all aspects. The organization, Yanofsky’s inspiring tune, the celebratory Olympic village, the record setting number of Golds capped off with the most coveted prize of double hockey gold medals. Such an incredible event.
Same, I remember the day it happened and the moment I heard that he was gone. I was 21 years old same as Luc, and it's one of those things that happen where you remember exactly where you were, and what you were doing vividly. RIP.
I just watched this video , and I’m not sure I quite realized how much these games meant to me. I was in tears the entire time, not the least of which was when they showed Joannie Rochette. These truly were Canada’s games.
Who’s here still after 13 years ?! This video , this song , this golden goal is everything a Canadian could ever dream of . Proud to be Canadian that’s for sure ! Go Canada go ! This goal/ video still sends chills down my back and sometimes a tear will run down my face im so happy to be watching this still .
No disrespect mates, but out of love for Canada and Olympics sometimes fail than win, wish Canada did a little more to further push the record in Olympics and Para Games. Oh well... At least Canada won in Ice Hockey (Men and Women, sadly not Para) which matters the most (Men Gold Medal game had me in tears :)).
I don’t think we will ever get to see Brian Williams anymore after his last coverage of the CTV Olympics in 2012, ten years later… Williams is a icon.❤️🇨🇦
