I'll watch any video you throw up. Once again thanks for the information. I feel like the cylinder heads are the most important part and people don't take the time to really do the work.

Mark, Clifton Jones. Man I do enjoy your vids. Great info. I work in an auto machine shop. You really tell the truth. I have informed some of my guy with your video. Thank you

Awesome videos! These are absolutely inspiring! I'm a victim of the aftermarket bolt on world, but man you give me the energy to go out into my shop and pull all my old stuff out and start grinding. Thanks for donating your time to make these videos, very entertaining and I share them with all my hot rod buddies. Oh, and I'd love to see the Buick drag test!

I had my 781s ported by a guy in Sioux City that has a flow bench. It completely changed my engine. Now my 496 hit's it's 7000 rpm redline super quick.

Mark thank you for sharing all this information about the heads. In my opinion, this is the most important part of engine preparation for horsepower. Can’t wait for the next video and yes, I’ll watch anything you work on, even a Buick!!!! They are awesome as well!!!!!

Amazing Mark, such great attention to detail...GM heads too, although they are iron-heavy! I would like you to try a similar prepped rectangular port and see what they do!

I still want to know why he doesn't use aluminum, he obviously knows what he is doing but I don't think he has ever actually said.

@@jorgyr36 iron heads and stock block better bang for the buck. He does all aftermarket builds as well but he is proud of his all stock builds because nobody can do it.
@Anarchy-Is-Liberty
@Anarchy-Is-Liberty 2 года назад
@@j.e.d.8065 You ever paid anyone to port a set of iron heads today? The better bang for the buck would be to buy aluminum ready to go, unless you attempt to do your own porting, and then you're in a whole other class from just about everyone else out here!

When you mentioned overrevving i could see off the line was amazing but you did have to shift to 2nd quick and if you peaked out before the 1/4 maybe try some 410's or a taller tire if it will fit-Not many cars can pull the front wheels like that

I build custom Buick,Olds,Pontiac engines similar to how you do bbc stuff, can't wait till u see what the buicks can do, mine is a 464 my ported E-heads 5cc bigger than stock, 10.8:1 compression runs 32* timing on 92 fuel cam is a hyd flat tappet cam 236-245 @ 50 .517 lift Fully ported TA SP1 intake which is like a giant Torquer 2, in a 3650lb street car camero 3.73 gears,th400 3000 stall, 950 aed holley TA 1-7/8 long tube headers 275 drag radial, best et of 10.93 at 123mph before getting kicked off the track for no cage lol

Also, if I keep the stock valves, can I still pull power from them if they're ported right and I give them a back cut for low lift power? thanks again

What was the 'porting' flow gain before larger valves were installed. Please show, 1st flow gain then total gain with new valves.

Question I already have a EFI 4xt intake square port, would it be a bad idear to port match my 781 heads to match the intake?

This is the best engine building sereies on all of RU-vid. Especialling in regard to head flow. Mark, How do your 781 heads flow in comparison to the AFR 265? Given a 620HP build, how do the dyno results compare? I sure weould like to see the dyno results 3000-6000 compared with the only difference being 781 vs AFR 265.

I have some 781s and 702s and some big port heads that say TRUCK on them and I think they're 236s big port but everything says they're small port but they're not, they're the same as the 781s... what head would work best with a little clean up porting and a good street able hydraulic flat tappet cam, also, can you point me in the direction of a good all around cam, street/strip. I have either a 3000 or 3600 converter, i don't remember what it exactly is but in there somewhere also just running a performer intake with carb spacer and 850 dual feed double pumper and HEI... the block is .060 with .100 dome pistons and sleeved in ALL cylinders... that's how I got it, there was only 2k on the rebuild, I got block, intake, water pump, balancer and flexplate for 200 bucks, I didn't want the heads because they were peanuts... I can rip through a small block all day long but this is my first big block and with my understanding, they're temperamental beasts... any help or ideas would be grand and appreciated, thanks

@joediblasio1846
@joediblasio1846 6 лет назад
I figured that out after I posted, hahah... I just don't know big block like I know small block and I'm still trying to learn, I better hurry up too because i only wanted a 454, now I'm up to 1 bone stock 454, a .060 over one and a 396. and 5 sets of heads, lol... 400 total into Everything. now I'm going to be stripping out my small blocks to put in the big blocks
@derekstewart8175
@derekstewart8175 6 лет назад
Joe Diblasio yeah wait till you see most 454 blocks can go .125" over bore, i love 505's on a budget, it's a .100 over 454 or 427 block, scat cast steel 4.25 stroke, make bad ass torque for not a lot of $
@joediblasio1846
@joediblasio1846 6 лет назад
hmmmm... well I'm all about budget minded especially now after my motorcycle accident that left me handicap with no use of my left arm and hand and a rod across my chest and from the base of my skull to my tailbone... soooooo I'm on a huge budget because uncle Sam don't pay much... I just want to build a nice all around motor, hydraulic flat tappet, with as much stock and good used parts I can find, with the exception of rings, bearings, Tchain, oil pump, pistons and gaskets... I don't know many guys with big blocks anymore because my ex scared all my buddies away or we just lost touch, they moved etc... I'm always looking for a decent deal on the bb stuff but it's totally different from smb, that's for sure... I'm kind of thinking I should have gone small block but I wanted to build my own first bb... I just don't know where I should stand for compression and cam, I want it pump gas friendly and street livable, so nothing over 11:5 I'm guessing and nothing over. .600 with the cam but nothing under 500 but dur maybe 240s at 50 and around 110/112 lda... I really don't know to be honest, I want to get it done once internally, the external crap I can swap out later. any ideas? a guy I know has a pretty trick 440 making 750s with factory oval at the crank but he's also 13:1 and huge solid roller etc... I can have it for the low price of 7k hahahahaha, I'm thinking 700 bucks is still too much for 550hp and 550fpt lol... help lol
@derekstewart8175
@derekstewart8175 6 лет назад
Joe Diblasio Oh crap bro, sorry, umm yeah, you have high compression heads so either find a good 454 core and rebuild it or stay small block, these are not cheap, not the most expensive but not a bigginner engine, BBC are a little sensitive to compression try and stay at or below 9.5:1, use a summit hyd flat tappet cam 224-234 at .050 Stock rockers, stock pushrods, dished flat top or dished pistons, stock rods and crank are fine, use a edelbrock rpm intake. 750 holley, don't go giant on headers, if you get a regular core 454 it will have flat tops already. You gotta have some money otherwise stay small block imo
