I know this was 10 months ago, but this video helps me to sleep soundly...the waves, the water splashing onto the boat, the calmness inside, and the ambient noise..so, peaceful. Thx guys. Post more videos, please!!
Thank you for watching. Lots of people comment saying how calming they find these videos, that’s why I put an extra long video together. Apparently it helps people sleep. 50+ videos on our channel 😊 💦 ⚡️No Music-Blizzard, Waves & Thunderstorm ASMR ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6vnyXgIvDhc.html
Brings back memories. I was on the US Coast Guard cutter in the early 1960s and remember all too well the heavy seas on ocean station Bravo and Charley for a month at a time. (south of Greenland) The ships were custom built to withstand heavy weather and were called weather cutters. They were steamships and 327 feet long.
I'm so glad these kind of videos were not around when I was a kid, my dad worked on tug boats towing with a 1800' line tied to oil barges from N. Y. to TX. I know he was working during some storms almost went overboard during one. I would have been worried so much more about him. :) peace Be safe out there.

This was amazing therapy for me because all night I had to listen to my drugged up/drunk knuckledragger neighbours. Today I feel like showing them this video and saying, "This is what REAL men look like!" I feel sorry for the 2 year old. Before anyone asks why I don't get the police round..well, they are known to them already. The bloke even waves to them when they go past in their cars. Because it's 'only' cannabis nothing gets done. Honestly, they wouldn't last 5 minutes on that boat, they'd be crying like babies.
Ryan Leith Thanks. We just sailed from there on Saturday evening but I expect you already know that? Quite a lumpy job getting the pilot back on board the Knab.
@@Bigwavemaster1 Yes, you sailed just before my shift started. It was a windy night. The remains of the Buchan Alpha rig, that is being decommissioned at the Dales Voe base, broke it's moorings. Have a safe trip and keep posting the videos!

We film some of the largest waves ever caught on camera. We work with 2 oil platforms that can accurately measure wave height so no guessing or exaggeration. These videos are very enjoyable for me to watch. I was thinking that they also serve a more important role: cadets and seaman learning in schools and academy's around the world get to see real-world sailors working and it is very educational. Bless You.
Excellent video! Nice to see how you all perform such a risky job with what seems to be no difficulties. Seems you enjoy, and have fun, yet take it seriously with some smiles and laughter! Enjoyed this one alot! Stay safe out there! I see your respect for the ocean! I'm still to afraid to try it but will try to muster some courage!

Do the bridge "windshield" wipers have an automatic setting? I noticed that the one on the far left swiped back and forth while the test did not. Also, have you ever had one of the bridge windows break do to a wave hit?

Just streamed it on the big tv with us all pished after watching football.( thank fuck I am a rugby fan). Quality viewing as always and you may have another 8 subscribers as they are watching older vids on their phone after seeing this. Fair play pal.👍👍
Was getting worried about use haven’t had a video in a while always look forward to these videos. It really shows what use do and what you have to put up with when the weather decides not to play ball. You’re boats are getting to the stage we’re they really need replacing with much more up to date ones and a bit more comfort especially what use have to go through. Well it’s coming up to the silly season for the weather so keep the videos coming and stay safe you all do an amazing job 👍👍👍👍
We work a month on/month off so a new video every couple of months. Not sure if there is anything more up to date on the market. At least not capable of handling the conditions.
Yeah I knew you did that month on month of rotation. Yeah it really has to put up with a lot I like that xbow ships they look good. I was a lorry driver but due to having major heart surgery I’ve ongoing problems but I always parked up beside the water so I could see the boats especially when I was driving the fish lorries out of Aberdeen. Just an amazing job you have and the things you see like the killer whales etc. Maybe in my next life lol 😆. Well keep safe and doing an amazing job god bless 👍👍
@@Bigwavemaster1 brave men to do that job. The sea frightens me to death and I'm not the easily frightened type. I suppose you get used to it but my recurring nightmare is the dark and the deep sea waaaaaaa haha. "Fair Winds and Following Seas" friend. Take care.
Whats the purpose og the big hydraulic cylinder at around the 5.40 mark? looking on drawings of your ship online, I would guess that it is to lower the maneuvering thruster? great vid, keep the good work up, and stay save
Hi,its a schottle, which isn't as powerfull as a bow thruster,so we use the schottle for st/by duties or harbour manovering,in calm weather a ship without main engine propulsion and with a bowthruster/azimuthe will give you 7 knots,a schottle will give you 3 knots maybe,a bow thruster is a main of propululion,a schottle isn't a main means of propulsion, hope this is help, regards
Very interesting video, I watched an earlier one from last year in very heavy swells which was mesmerising, it was interesting to see life on board such a vessel. I think it would be interesting if you could show some instrumentation, such as engine revs, speed through water, depth and chart plotter position but I guess that may not be allowed? Still interesting job and what a job at that.
Bigwavemaster1 I understand but I hope you’re able to show a little something? I used to work in a yacht chandlers years ago and then for one of the big marine navigation companies, so I have an idea of what you’re using, not that I supplied any commercial equipment mind you, I know that’s in a different league, I’m just interested in what you use.
A rogue wave is just a wave that comes at you from a different direction to the rest. That’s why they are called rogue. We get them all the time. The wave at the end of this video is probably the largest wave I’ve filmed. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oPNQVQgrwbo.html
Njugglesvatn It’s a ship’s manoeuvring system he used to work with. You jest point the joystick in the direction you want the ship to go even if it’s sideways
No this was only about 4 years ago was working for real McKay I’ve also done a lot of work for Stevens of wick. Don’t drive anymore would be irresponsible to get behind the wheel when I know I don’t keep well. Started of at 14-15 working in a shop then onto steelfixing on jobs like sizewell b nuclear power station etc then onto the lorries and done a variety of jobs from fish waste to whisky, fish , sewerage you name I’ve hauled it. At the end of the day the money doesn’t smell. I was brought up to work no matter what the weather like my dear old dad says head down arse up and get on with it unlike today’s youth who won’t do anything am 48 years old and I struggle not being able to work but I know I can’t do I just get on with it.
Sounds like a varied career. I’ve been at sea since leaving school when I left home to work on trawlers out of Looe in Cornwall then Brixham. Right enough what you say about a lot the youngsters. If they’re not sat in front of a keyboard, they’re not interested.
Yeah I was brought up to work and sometimes had 2 jobs finished one then off to another had a very greedy ex wife who loved money more than me lol 😂 certainly didn’t do me any harm and unlike some I wasn’t a guy that turned round and said it’s not my job I did it regardless now am knackered going to the shop and left fighting for my benefits it’s a funny old world if you know how the system works you get all the hand outs. Look forward to your next video say hi to me lol 😆
Julian V. We are paid for by the oil companies. We are a dedicated rescue ship for 2 oil platforms but we would rescue anyone that needed it. Thanks for taking the trouble to look at these videos 😊
@@Bigwavemaster1 I enjoy it! It's good relaxing footage... The only way of getting rid of bad moments of the Mariners '''cold Turkey'' Simptom... it's the lack of going out to sea... I am shue you no what i mean??
Julian V. I’m sure I’ll get to the cold turkey stage one day when retirement beckons. Right now the only time I get the shakes is when I get the phone call to join again 😂😂
Hope you gave that little birdie something to eat..he is kind stranded on your boat being so far away from shore...he probably would not be able to make it back to shore via his own power
@@Bigwavemaster1 I'm from the United States but I'm always checking the NOAA buoys and weather reports out there. 90% of the time it's nasty in that area. You guys are a different breed. Cheers to you all!
