in this video i will be taking you through more stages in how we carried out the Repaint / Respray on this Ford Anglia 105E , This includes Gun setup and paint mix setup using 2k direct gloss Ford Ming yellow through the Sata 5000rp Digital, i have included as much information as i can.

One huge benefit of your videos is that the music isn’t the heavy rock at three times the volume of your commentary, what a refreshing change. Lack of swearing is a benefit that i can watch it with the family around. The tips as you go are all helpful and much appreciated. It’s good to find some solid colour instead of the usual clear over base this is more fitting on classic cars. Fell ready for a dance and some lasers in the workshop now.

Great work Tony. Your well aware of my interest in this gun and the direct gloss finish for older classic cars so to see this video in it's entirety is brilliant. Really helpful and informative and the longer the videos the better for me. I hope you can find time to do a long flat and polish video too. That would be ace. Keep up the good work. is that a mobile/inflatable booth? how does that work? does it have an exhaust system? looking for something similar, but smaller. something like 10ft by 10ft. something I can assemble even in my basement in colder months. I only do instruments. would be nice to see a walkaround and a little details about the booth. great work as usual

Another great video in the series Tony. Why do you prefer to spray around the car in sequence, then go back and blend the dry edges, rather than leap frogging from side to side, which I'm led to believe, prevents dry edges occurring?

+Malcarper it does prevent dry edges but I personally prefer to paint it in a way that feels more comfortable and thus making the job easier as there's no running back and fourth all the time , sometimes a respray can be stressful enough when it's a certain car or an important job so doing it in a more comfortable way just helps keep me focused on the task rather than running back and fourth intime

Thanks for the video! I've been looking for a 105E getting painted with single stage and I finally found the video. I have a 1966 105E here that I've done all the welding and body work on and I'm almost ready for my paint (SS) I notice you're doing the shell and painting the hood, trunk and doors off the car, I'm going to be doing the same thing, if I mix my paint my same, with the same amounts of activator and reducer , do you think I will run into any colour issues when I bolt everything back together and do a wet sand? Thanks in advance for any advice!

+Dr Knight hi and no all I'd say is mix the tin through well first and the same again when you go to paint the doors ect that's the only way you will end up with colour issues if your colour settles or you don't mix it through properly

Great series on the Anglia Tony. I'm really enjoying it and have watched all of your earlier videos. Also delighted to have seen The Gunman call you out earlier today. In the second coat you seem to have left the wet edge on the middle of the roof for at least 5 or 6 minutes before picking it up from the other side. Is this OK or should that have really been quicker?

+Sean Fay depends on the hardner you use , we used a medium hardner for this and also when I do my last run on the centre I try to leave it a touch wetter so when I get back around I can pick it back up intime , if it did end up a touch dry I'd just use a touch of blending thinner to blend it together when I'd done my last coat , but the right paint mix can make a massive difference , so great to hear you've seen the channel from the beginning and hope your enjoying the channel evolve as I learn more on the editing side , and yes it was a very nice thing for him to come to us and offer us as a channel support , have been a follower of his for a very long time

in the warmer months its fine but in the winter i direct a heater towards the intake fan at the rear so it pulls the warm air into the booth

Would you recommend a booth like this for a small 1 man bodyshop? Do the filters take care of the fumes and smell? It would be in a closed up shop during the winter months.

they take the fumes out and most of the smell too as they have carbon filters fitted and dual exhaust filters, i believe they also make vented side covers too now so you could run that to a flue to exhaust the fumes straight from the booth to atmosphere

Tony got a new Sagola 4600 today in 1.3 havent had an opportunity to try it yet, but i was wondering if you prefer the 5000 rp more than the extreme? Ive been using the 5000 for over a year and find it puts out a lot of material in 1.3 so i bought the 1.2 kit as well and it i like better. I know Sagola sent you and gunman the 1.3xl but after the Sata I decided to opt for the smaller tip-hope i made the right decision. Have you tried the sagola in the 1.3?

awesome question that bud and it would be my iwata w400 bellairia 1.3 just because i can do all the materials through it , base ,clear, direct gloss, wet on wet primer ect, but if it was for a clear gun then id say the sata all the way

Not sure if you're still checking comments on this old video, but if Carcoon had asked you to paint the body color-matched parts of the interior as well as the exterior, would you have done them both together or would you have made two jobs out of it? I'm getting ready to paint my '68 Beetle inside and out and can't figure out if I can do it all at once or if I should tackle them separately.

always check all comments buddy on all videos and just in the process of doing them another car of theres atm , i would paint the interior , then mask off the interior then paint the exterior i find thats the best way to get a clean finish overall

@@TonysRefinishingTV BTW, do you remember about how much paint in total the Anglia needed? It seems about the same size as a Beetle...I bought one US gallon (3.78L) for the Bug but am now wondering if it's enough. Looked like you used about 3L for the Anglia, not including bonnet and boot lids?

for a buf that should be enough if its 2k, 2k gloss is 2:1 with hardner so for every litre your mixing your adding 300ml of hardner plus thinners so with a say a rounded 4 liters of paint you will have atleast 5-5.5 litres of mixed paint , depending on the colour ie not a bad one for covergae like yellow or red that should be ample tbh

@@TonysRefinishingTV The 2K direct gloss I'm using (a light blue, same as the original color) is actually 4:1. Even with some thinner added it seems like I might be cutting it close, especially since I'll be practicing on a spare boot lid before actually painting the Bug. Maybe buying an extra liter of paint wouldn't be a bad idea just in case...better to have some extra than not have enough!

Why didn't you paint the door hinges?

we painted all the areas of the hinges that show the rest of the hinge slides into slots inside the door so paint build would stop them from sitting up correctly
