12:28 Hey Pete. Merry Christmas to you also. I think you and I are doing the exact same video! Square flat packs. lol. I’m holding release till I’m done. I was strongly considering panning because I’ve never done that before. But, I am scared to try, I might ask you your advice on that? Do you feel like the gold bond wires are heavy enough to pan without loss? I’m scratching my head at your AP outcome. 2 possibilities in my mind. 1) airflow too high. 2) stone bubbler creates a Venturi skimmer effect (like a saltwater aquarium skimmer works) and the super fine bubbles create a TON of surface area for carbon particulates to cling to and be pulled up with the bubbles. It creates a firm structure and the effect compounds itself over a short time allowing the bubble mass to literally climb out of the bucket. Exactly like an aquarium skimmer as it removes organics from the aquarium’s water. I use AP all the time because I have little money, frankly, but I never experience the overflow you have. I don’t use an air stone. Try without that and then try lowering your airflow. What ever creates large bubbles should be fine. That will remove the skimmer effect regardless of your AP saturation. Also, if you use such saturated AP, that’s fine, but you have to add fresh HCl to it to refresh it. This is just my experience. I hope this proves helpful. I like your video series and I promise I’m not copying your flat pack video idea. 😊
Firstly, I tried not using a air stone and it still happened, secondly I'm just using a standard aquarium air pump so cannot control air flow, as for panning, yes you can defiantly pan it. that's exactly what I'm planning to do, and you will see it in the next part. with the fine sediment I was just trying to deal with the curse sediment. thanks the comment and look forward to watching your video good luck with your video.
When I used AP to dissolve gold plated pins it take a long time (6 weeks) for the color to change to aqua and when it does it foams a lot. Not happy with AP because peroxide is very expensive.
Do you need perioxide ? HCl + Copper oxide ( copper that’s green) and a bubbler will make copper 2 chloride ( AP) The perioxide is only added if you want to rush this process .
@Hi1l13 yeah I know. It started out as hcl and a small amount of peroxide which turned into copper chloride(A0P). Now I just keep using the AP. The more you use it, the better it gets. It's the copper in solution which is corrosive and which does the work. The peroxide initially just got the process started
After the ash separation, I’m thinking of somehow running the dried leftover through a copper cell. That way I can process the slimes which would contain the metals. Don’t know what brands of hcl are available in you neck of the woods, but I found it much more pleasant to spend a little bit more for the premium brands. Kleen Strip is what I buy. I used to try the cheapest I could find, but I couldn’t tolerate the smell of a chlorinated fart anymore. I have begun to really dislike ap. Thanks for this one.
I got a question when revers electroplating gold the black sediment (gold) after you filter it out can you just melt it or it must be refined ? Thanks !
