Nice work on the floorboards and the front bumper. Crazy how those brackets don't line up with the mounting points on the floorboards. Hoping the rear bumper mount debacle can be resolved. Look forward to seeing the next one. Be safe and stay well.
I have my steps all redone and ready to mount with the 504 kit I got. Now I am afraid of the alignment and bolting it down. I admire how you deal with the frustration in this aspect of the project.
I edit out all the wrench throwing 😂😂😂. I just tried to keep a open mind on this one and really take it in since I was noting but new to this. Your concerned with the running boards to body alignment ?
@@LeftForDeadGarage I have the Code 504 kit and the brackets for the steps could not be more different. One they bolt on to the frame. Two they are adjustable up and down. My problem begins where I had issues getting the cab mount bushings from them. I finally had to just go and buy them direct from their supplier. So I don’t 100% know if my cab is high enough to give me a big enough gap. I am close to putting them on and should know soon. You can see some of what I am doing on my channel.
Nothing against RussD, I purchased the 504 kit in 2017. Everything is based off of existing holes or mount locations. Then you cut or drill ince you locate certain holes for the specific bracket being installed. The 504 kit is fully adjustable, up and down and forward and back. Based on the instructions inonly had slight adjustments up or down to make, everything else fell into place perfectly. Both high quality, but theb504 looked to be an easier install for me. Just based on your current video's. Great job tho, i like seeing and comparing your progress/install, compared to my own experience.
Ok I have a question, in stead of all this gap fudgerydoo, would it not have been better and simpler to have the box tight to the cab and all the other gaps all tight by just moving the rear fenders back? Drill new holes weld up the old ones? Great job either way
Iam sure you could move then fenders but if your not doing paint and body it’ would be very obvious. Next time I’ll use a Barnes 4wd spring perch and move the rearend forward. Thanks for watching
My question is this would you recommend this Russd bracket kit or should I just try to make my own thanks and great videos by the way keep up the good work
Personally I think the kit is priced cheap enough for me not to even hassle with making my own. The 4” high cab mounts and 4” set back motor mounts only required minimal floor trimming for the transmission. I have a 50 3100 lined up to do and I told him I’d only do it if we used Russ’s kit, so that’s what he ordered. Thank for watching!
Hello, I was wondering…. At the top of the filler or splash apron to the bottom of the bed, where does that attach to? Have the holes to where it attaches to the running board, but where does it attach at the top? I seen in the video where you have the c clamp on it, but wasn’t sure how it attaches.
It was just kinda floating there, there weren’t any holes to bolt it to the bed. I have another 49 truck here with aftermarket bed and running boards, I’ll look and see if those bolt together.
@kallirowden3104 on the silver truck I remover seeing marks where it had rubbed the bottom of the bed. That’s how I knew where the tuning board needed to land. I should be in the shop tomorrow evening, I’ll look at the pink truck.
Where did those bumper brackets come from?? If I was building a nice truck those brackets seem pretty rickity. Looks pretty jank which you pointed out also so o guess I’m just agreeing lol
Iam not a big fan of the bumper mounts. I’d like to see how the other two companies do their mounting. The kit I used can be found here. facebook.com/russdtrucks?mibextid=2JQ9oc
Iam not cutting a frame to fix a little bit of gap, it’s not worth all that. What I’d do next time is use barnes4wd spring perches and more the rearend forward
