Pretty cool trip ur on. That was a good idea making it a charity run. U might want to grab a extra gas can or gas bag. The intervals between fill ups in the land of the cunucks and Alaska are pretty far, if ur having issues down here itll definelty be a problem up there.

I usually get 30-32 mpg on my 2003 Road King which has a fuel injected Twin Cam 88 engine. I believe you have the Milwaukee 8 engine and a bigger fuel tank.

I also only have a 5-speed transmission. I've learned (the hard way) that speed and headwind greatly affect fuel economy.

@@CrunchMoto That is correct. But your engine has very nice proper harley exhaust sound. Here in Europe because of emissions Milwaukee 8 sounds mild, mellow and quiet. Had to buy after market exhaust to get some sound.

Haven’t ran out of gas yet on a trip but was pretty close once. Put 5.45 gallons in and my bike holds 5.5 gallons 🤣

@@CrunchMoto I see you have the saddlemen dominator seat did you also get the pillion? If so how secure is it with the suction cup? If not does your luggage just sit on the fendor? Thanks much!

@@ericroadking7564 I don’t have the passenger seat. My luggage sits on a small gel pad that I’ve had for ever. It protects the fender well enough but my luggage scratched the lids if my hard bags during this trip. That didn’t bother me too much b/c I bought these hard bags off Facebook marketplace specifically for this trip to keep the OEM leather bags in good condition.

You need to fill your spare can. I hate that feeling when fuel light comes on and you still got 60 miles to go. Does the road have a reserve. Back in the day in just ran my old Kawasaki until it ran out, reached down and flipped cock to reserve it would cough splutter and keep going until I got to the next gas.

That was my experience too. With the RK, I can restart the bike and get a few extra miles.

I wish. 35 mpg on a great day. I’ve learned headwind, speed, and how much stuff I’m carrying greatly affect my mpg.

From my understanding, the bridge and island are Mackinac. The city is Mackinaw. However, I’m not a local and my pronunciation may be wrong.

@@richpuller1348 To be honest, I rarely do group rides bigger than 3-4 bikes. BUT I firmly believe “to each his own” and support anyone who does group rides, long distance, short distance, bike weeks, solo rides, camping, hotels, whatever gets you on the road!
