I am 28 years old with a history of Perthes Disease - also known as Legg Calvé Perthes disease.
en.wikipedia.or...
My world changed back in January 2014 where I was suddenly stricken and could not move my leg or walk with excruciating pain. I spent many months in and out of hospital with multiple tests which only had proven a high CRP level - inflammation. I had no answers. I was on constant pain medication and was using a range of equipment to 'walk'.
I finally found a surgeon who scheduled a Left Total Hip Replacement for me on the 7th April 2014.
To this date I don't have any definitive answers as to what 'triggered' the pain and spasms I was experiencing in my hip and why my CRP levels were high sky, I have to accept this has been my path in life.
I documented my long and hard journey leading up to my hip replacement and then my long recovery to walk again. Due to my immobility prior to the replacement I lost A LOT of strength and muscle and I had to reteach myself to walk properly.
I am conscious of judgement in how I look and how this journey has been for me and so if there are any nasty or judgemental remarks made please know I will block you immediately. I have no room for negativity in my life.
To anyone know is going through pain, needs a THR or is recovering from one, know that you are not alone in your struggle and that I believe in you.. if I can get through what I have this past year, anything is possible.
Thanks for watching my journey..
Renée

Your videos are really good to look at. I just had hip replacement surgery done 6 weeks ago. It was a lot of help to watch your videos to compare to.

Thank you so much for the videos. I have been having pain in my left hip for over a year now. it started gradually but progressed to the point I had to go on sick leave about 3 weeks ago. I am 48 and had a back and SI joint injury when I was 41. I had surgeries to correct them but the pain in my left (the SI) side never went away but slowly got worse. I was expecting it because the nerves they burned out do grow back. this time the pics was almost the same as before but was different in that this pain was radiating in my hip, groin and down my leg. now I know why it felt different . I went back to see my neuro surgeon this Tuesday and after viewing my xray, my special immediately see the me to see an orthopedic surgeon within the next 30 minutes. the new specialty told me I need a total left hip replacement. 🙁. the pain and spasms I have been experiencing have been unbearable. I understand the crying and screaming and I have never sworn so much in my life. I am on an urgent priority list for surgery so will be in about 6 weeks. but even with a pharmacy's worth of prescriptions that have been slowly increasing sine June of 2016, my pain is still excruciating . I am looking forward to walking again and moving without pain. My pain now is so bday that I don't want to leave the house. How did you handle the bad painful days prior to surgery? i am rarely under a 7/10 but at times it is a constant 10/10. some days I think the pain will drive me insane. i thank you for sharing as it gives me hope. you are an amazing strong and beautiful woman and I hope you are still improving every day. cheers from Canada.

You poor thing I hope your surgery is coming up soon and all goes well for you. Leading from the surgery the pain was hard, I used a lot of pain medication and rest they were really the only things to help. Otherwise spending some time outside in the sun having a coffee or breakfast really helped cheer me up in that period of time because things seem very overwhelming and difficult. Just know things do get better!! Hang in there x

Nays Place thanks for the good ideas for distraction. I'm not walking much at anymore but since the weather is now climbing to 20 degrees, coffee on the deck is on my radar this weekend. I also have good news. My surgery is booked for May 8th and I am hopeful it will be helpful. Just wondering how much your pain improve after you got your new hip?
