The short story is "Guts" by Chuck Palahniuk. He likes to read it at events. I saw him do a reading in DC and people passed out. He was most pleased.

Didn't it also end up in a compilation book about a bunch of really messed up people? "Guts" got folded into it and he calls the character St. Gutfree. I remember reading it, but it could be a fever dream. Think the book itself was called "Haunted".

@@Nenacu I read Haunted, and you're right. The one that really stuck out to me was the story of the rich people who started dressing up in rags to pretend to be homeless. Great book.

i also have time-traveled in a semi-conscious state. i had to apologise to my coworkers when i realised i am not, in fact, a time lord who manipulated time back 30 minutes each time i hit my alarm's snooze, and was 2 hours late to work.

The biggest thing for me is that Fox News really makes me question the protections for the freedom of the press. In this case, we're eventually getting the fact that the primary source is literally a crazy woman, but how much else of what they've historically reported has been entirely made up whole cloth. Honestly, this is a good case for the FCC to just cancel their broadcast license. Their primary shows are "opinion" and "satire" according to their own legal filings, but they label the network as a news network.

True. 'Haunted' was basically a collection of 23 of Chuck's short stories, with a frame story tying them all together. And 'Guts' was one of these short stories.

Sydney Powell sadly escaped disbarment, but if she isn't a private practicioner, and if I oversaw her firm, I'd pay her to quietly go away, and to never use us as a reference.
