The first Pro Match of Battle Aces! -- Clem vs PartinG in a 15 game series. Also an interview with David Kim about the upcoming Beta! Want to understand Battle Aces?: • New RTS "Battle Aces" ...
Crazy how you can get a huge combined unit army up and running so fast. I can see myself playing this a lot, looks like a really fun great game to play.
Love watching battle aces! Very good addition to the rts! top candidates! Also I like the idé that we "unlock" and make progress to grind to unlock new units
Can't wait for this to replace Desert Strike. I hope they work on a team mode version but given how fast the 1v1s are, there might not even be ladder anxiety since you just immediately move on to the next game. Got really strong sc2 vibes from that ling bane comp and the siege tank marine comp.
It would be nice to see some kind of info about, active workers/income and unit/supply numbers, imo they can be implemented without compromising the very minimalist esthetic the devs are going for.
Playing Starcraft : Your race is so OP! This is ****ing unfair. Apologize for playing that race. Playing Battle Aces: Your deck is so OP! Hmm...I'm gonna use it in my next game.
Game looks great, my only issue right now is that there's no real incentive to mix your t1 units up, if your getting recall you might as well get recall hunter, and so on.
What is the process for the draft? are they going blind against each other and just look for a balanced deck or is it more like a pick phase similar to a moba or something?
@ArtosisCasts2 Regarding the 2vs2, during the base race at the end it looked like the two main buildings share the same health pool, so it didn't matter that Clem's team wasn't focusing a single structure. They share damage.
Would have been nice to be able to hear what David Kim says in the interview, but the sound quality is so low and bad that its impossible to listen to.
I like the game. But I feel like I've had enough of matches lasting 1.5 hours. I was hoping that this was going to be short and sharp - but with a best of 15 it drags out a bit.
I can't watch it, all the games are blurring into one. Early/Mid/Late game looks the same, each expansion looks the same, there is only one building type which is sad, every unit is a vehicle or a robot, there are no factions to identify with, there are only 2 types of events: army combat, harass these workers/building, armies have similar value (size) almost all the time. Disappointing, formulaic, boring
It literally is innovative, since it has a pretty unique twist on the normal rts formula This game seems infinitly more interesting than stormgate for example@@gongal
Before I start: If you don't like the game, that's okay, I can't force you to like it. But your matter of fact way of speaking about a game that hasn't even been available to the public yet is mind bogglingly foolish. For starters, the game philosophy is clearly choosing to hyper focus on a specific element of the game. So complaints like "there's only one building" and "There's no other factions" Make absolutely no sense here. It's like playing Elden Ring and complaining that the platforming isn't as good as Mario. It's not Starcraft. I personally think people have their head in the sand if they don't see the potential of this format of game. Having the ability to mix units with any units IS Innovative in the RTS genre and will allow units that couildn't exist in other rts games. For example: In sc2 air to ground is not really allowed to be that strong UNLESS it's with maxed out capital ships. relegating most of them as harass/scout units. Air units in this game, as you can see with the butterflies, air units are very capable of shredding a unprepared ground army. And since there are no factions. There is less shift in balance of power when one units becomes strong (like if mutas are OP in broodwar, that only benefits zerg, wheras if a single unit is OP in battle aces that can only really effect 1 or two slots in your unit deck). Once they add more specialized units (the raider is a good example, ONLY ATTACKS workers, you could never have a unit like that in Starcraft), and they WILL. Things will get a lot more spicier, which leads to my third point: They already got all the hard stuff out of the way. Visuals are nice, movement looks clean, combat is mostly readable, everything else is a dial that can easily be adjusted, The game might look stale because they only have 1 map right now. But adding maps is a MUCH easier problem to solve than fixing something fundamentally broken with the engine. If the game is too short, adjust the game time. If a unit is too strong, adjust the stats, if a unit has no counter, add a unit that can. If games are too stale, make maps that add more complexity. Or units with more complexity. Summary is: Game is literally in the womb and your complaining about it. Just be thankful we have another rts, and it feels the closest to actually being able to pull in a wide attraction. Which may lead to more rts players in general. Believe it or not some people play starcraft ONLY for the micro aspect, so there IS and audience. And if one game can't be allowed to be like this then rts players don't deserve nice things.
artosis will shill anything as long as he's paid enough. to see a guy that rails against certain sc races as braindead say that this looks good or exciting is a bad look.
