In this video, I have discussed an overview of different components of a Removable Partial Denture (Cast Partial Denture) or different parts of the removable partial denture.
- The RPD, or the removable partial denture is a very commonly used treatment option in dental practices. A removable partial denture is any denture that can be removed by the patient and does not require any expert dentist intervention to aid for the removal of the denture.
- A removable partial denture has in total 8 different parts or 8 different components, according to most literature.
- The components of the Removable partial denture (Cast Partial Denture) are named as:
The Major connectors
The Minor Connectors
The Rests
The Direct Retainers
The Stabilizing Component
The Indirect Retainers
The Denture Base
The Artificial Teeth
- Each of these components has a specific function to perform which in turn contributes to the overall stability and longevity of the removable partial denture.
- In this video, I have discussed the basic principles of these different parts of the removable partial denture simply and interactively.
