The former Conservative Attorney General, Dominic Grieve KC, says the Standards Committee is "quite capable" of ruling impartially on Boris Johnson's statements made during the pandemic.
Mr Grieve said the photographs of the "gatherings" the former PM attended will speak for themselves in front of the cross-party group of MPs.
He added that parts of the Conservative Party appear to be "delusional" about Mr Johnson if they continue to support him if he is found to have mislead parliament.

Sue gray, having been appointed by Johnson, reported on what she found. Again, Johnson did not dispute any of it. No wonder, she did not report on a few gatherings. Instead of MPs investigating themselves, it's time for a PEOPLE'S COURT to do this. A group of 15 PEOPLE selected at random to judge each case. Then maybe we would then HAVE HONEST MPs.

Although not a supporter of Dominic Grieves politics, it is a joy to listen to someone who can present an impartial and well reasoned set of responses to a journalist. How I wish others on both sides of the House of Commons could be equally reasonable and well reasoned.

Dominic Grieve is quite right when he said Sue Grey(who was appointed by Johnson on account of her excellent credentials) was not talking to the opposition when she compiled her report,she remained impartial. Don't confuse talking to the committee (12 months + later) with the report,which was rubberstamped by Boris Johnson and other cabinet members. This clip sends out the wrong message to the viewers,Ms Burley

He's obviously lied, lied and lied, but I fear that the MPs questioning him are, like most MPs, far from the Grand Inquisitors they fancy themselves to be, and will therefore cock it all up and let him off the hook. I so wish Dominic Grieve were chairing this committee, but of course he and the other Tories of integrity and decency were all ditched during Johnson's vile and catastrophic leadership.
@thepoliticalhousethatjackbuilt
Burley is talking nonsense, the way in which something is regarded, understood, or interpreted is not necessarily reality; Just because Johnsonites chooses to perceive Sue Grey as biased doesn't make her biased (however much the biased Burley might wish it to be true).

Dominic Grieve is a reminder of what the Conservative Party has lost in Johnson's purging the party of any kind of decent people it had in its ranks. I am sure I would disagree with a lot fo what Mr. Grieve stands for but I know I could have a civilised discussion with this man. Something I doubt in the case of Priti Patel.

On the Sue Gray point, does that go in reverse? Big business figures going into Parliament for the Tories…. And what brought down Johnson was not the Sue Gray report, it was the mass resignations of his cabinet after the Chris Pincher scandal and his attempts to cover it up….

Well said! His excuse that it must have been obvious to all those civil servants that the rules and guidelines were being broken is beyond belief--who made the rules, who explained them to us every evening. WHO WAS IN CHARGE? Isn't it enough for Mr Johnson that 126 fixed penalty notices were issued to 83 people in 10 Downing Street for whom Mr Johnson was ministerially responsible? How many FPNs did Mr Johnson receive? One, yes ONE! Come on Committee, do your duty by the British people--make amends for letting this despicable person ride roughshod over your Inquiry--throw the book at him--it's time for justice!

1. This could have been avoided if the police gate keepers had done their job. Swanning through security with a carry out. Those hedonists should have been told to do a 180, and if they protested, arrest them. Will it come out that the police tried and were told to let them through? By whom? If that scenario happened then how can the ‘I did not know there was a party’ argument get any traction? 2. What happened to leadership by example? Clearly from top to bottom no one in this organisation even considered this. 3. Perception is reality. Excuse me? On the 20th anniversary of the Iraq war starting? And just after a liar got eight and a half years in prison for false rape accusations?

Was it wise for SkyTV to put Kay Burley into the TV news anchor chair to interview people about Boris Johnon and Partygate. She was herself suspended from Sky for some months because she broke lockdown rules herself and it was well-publicised. Shouldn't Sky find someone else to appear this week during run-up to the Privileges Committee hearing and its session this week?

“Boris really has adopted a disgracefully cavalier attitude... Boris sometimes seems affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility (and surprised at the same time that he was not appointed Captain of the School for next half): I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else.” Johnson's Eton school report, April 1982.

its actually true, because everyone looks at smth in their own way, through their own believes, understanding and amount of knowledge. Which is why many people still believe mainstream media, because they think mainstream media cant lie. And some people don't believe mainstream media, because they understand its lying, and prefer to do their own research where they put pieces together to see larger picture
