I just came across this video and as a classically trained bassoonist (the first instrument that you hear that starts with the eighth notes)... This passage is being played far too fast for performance with ballerinas. Its actually a little bit painful to watch. You MIGHT be able to get away with this tempo if it is a performance without dancers, but I dont know one conductor that will set the tempo this fast. This piece is marked to be played at 93 beats per minute. A conductor MIGHT take that up to 95 beats per minute. This recording starts at about 102 beats per minute and just keeps getting faster. At the 30 second mark, this is where a good steady tempo is so important because the ballerinas are doing all of the footwork. At this 30 mark, they are at about 105 beats per minute. By the end of the passage, they are running at close to 112 to 113 beats per minute. I have been in many ensembles where the orchestra takes off, but this is in my opinion a conductor who just wanted to show off. We as musicians train for playing up to 20 percent faster, but this is just uncalled for. At the end of the day, the only people who lose here are the ballerinas. They did their best to stay on beat, but with all the footwork that needs to be done, its impossible to do all of the footwork AND stay on tempo. Brava to the ballerinas, but the conductor should be booed off the podium. Thats just carelessness
