Paschimottanasana | How to Protect Your Low Back in Seated Forward Bend Yoga Pose | Steps

Paschimottanasana or the seated forward bend pose gives a complete stretch to the back muscles, hamstring muscles and hip muscles. If Paschimottanasana or the seated forward bend pose done wrong it can give injuries to your lower back.
In this video, I will demonstrate the right way to do seated forward bend pose or Paschimottanasana for beginners. Proper way to do Paschimottanasana or seated forward bend pose will help your to protect your lower back while doing forward bend.
Benefits of Paschimottanasana or the seated forward bend pose
- Paschimottanasana gives a good stretch to the hamstring muscles and makes it flexible over time.
- It loosens up the hip joint and the muscles.
It tones up organs of the abdomen like stomach, intestines, liver, kidneys and pancreas. It can improve digestion.
- It is good for diabetic patients.
- It tones the pelvic region and is good for the female reproductive organs.
- Paschimottanasana activates the Swadhishtana and the Manipuraka chakra, the spiritual centers in the abdominal plexus and improves vitality of the practitioner.
- It makes the back and the legs very flexible over a period of time.

Wow, incredible session. I am a beginner yoga student... learning mostly from youtube videos and no one, i say that again, no one has explained this posture with such accuracy and detail. I was doing it exactly the wrong way and kept wondering why my back kept hurting. I tried it the way you explained and boom ... the asana flowed smoothly, my body did not resist the posture. Thank you for this video, you are doing an incredible job.

I have been doing Suryanamaskars everyday. Initially after doing Suryanamaskar I was having lower back pain. I found that the second posture of Suryanamaskar (it is like standing Paschimottanasana) was causing the back pain issue. So for relieving the back strain I started bending my knees and it worked well. Thank you 🙏🏻 for this video, I understood the gist of doing such asanas👌. I will definitely try this way.

Strengthinn your lower back first ..there are many specific aasnas for back, or whenever you perform bhanu namaskar bring your concious with each aasanas ...... continue your yog practice

ye baat to sahi hai, aj subah hi maine ye Assan kiya jaise hi maine apna sir ghutane ko joda mere kamar k niche left side mai itna jor se dard huwa hai. mai abhi b dard mai hi hu.. patanahi kitne din lagenge recover hone mai. U r jst awsm sir...i have lower back pain since last 7-8 years....body bahot zyada stiff ho gayi he...so i face this 90 degree posture problem...but maza aa gaya video dekh k...u have awesome knowledge.achha lagega k kuch ese videos bhi dekhne mile aage jake jis se ham jese bck pain wale b body bana sake 😊

My son has that curved back and he can’t get into 90% angle in dandāsan. He would have been a good candidate for the opposite candidate 😂. But seriously how i wish you would teach him the correct positioning of the poses!🙏🏼

बच्चो के भारी bag भी vertebra &pose को खराब करती है,साथ ही body growth को भी रोकती है। बैग आगे की ओर टंगाये वही सही तरीका है,इससे पीठ की समस्या भी नही होगी।

ज्यादतर (हिन्दुओ) का protein intake बहुत कम है,जिसके कारण exhausted & physical development सही नही होता।आप egg के अलावा ऐसे protein सोर्स बताये,जो vegan लोग भी कखा सके,क्योंकि protein intake होना ही चाहिये।
