Ex - We are happy (to be sent) there.
Ex - I am glad (to have been fired) from that job.
What is a passive gerund?
A passive gerund is a gerund in the passive voice.
Ex - I love (being challenged).
Ex - She hates (being questioned).
Ex - Jon regrets (having been beaten).
Watch the lesson until the end to learn everything about it.

With some phrases at the beginning of a sentence, the concept of inversion is employed. It’s a complex sentence, syntactically.

It's a coincidental difference, not even accurate though. For ex - He is talented. (Not a temporary state)

We use bare infinitive after would rather ,had better etc ex:- I would rather die than beg . here after than we used bare infinitive . But my question is do we use bare infinitive after 'than' always ?? Ex:- It is better to stay at home than go/ to go to market?? here after than what will be appropriate?? bare or full infinitive?

Hi, I have watched the video several times, but I am really confused about converting the passive gerund to active gerund... The reason is when you convert the examples, you repeat it a few times, but each time you have spoken in different sentence. Could you please write it down for us? Thx.
@EnglishWithAshish
@EnglishWithAshish Год назад
Usually, that would not be needed. Both voices have different usages; and therefore, they need to be used separately.

Yes. LOVE is one of the verbs in English that can be followed by either gerunds or infinitives.
@ambikad.4871

I think the first sentence should have been like, "I love Babu being called by my mother". Here the subject, 'I' love an action to be done not to him but for his friend, Babu got invited by his mother, isn't it?
@EnglishWithAshish
@EnglishWithAshish 2 года назад
You got it all wrong. BABU is a name that he loves being called. It is an object to the verb CALLED.

I wouldn't be teaching here in Hindi. My students here belong to different parts of the world, not just India. Hope you understand this. The Hindi channel would get active soon.

As I said, don't watch these videos if you don't understand English at all. English has to be learnt in English. Translation would not work in every situation. If you can't be appreciative for the work I put up, even after being ill, don't at least shit on it.
